Hackprotect and what happened to HC

HC server went down because of an overload. Hackprotect is a server-overload prevention tool. How it will affect your browsing experience is that you can open only one page per 10 seconds, which shouldn't make much difference at all. If it shows up, just wait a few seconds and hit reload on your browser.

Hackprotect or not, this drives me crazy, seeing 'hackprotect, load this page again in 5 seconds'. I'd rather have twice the floodprotect (so I lessen my replies) the this hackprotect (I can't even view a thread.)

Yeah, and ten seconds is a lot longer than one might think.  One of my friends said that if this happened to a board that she frequented, she'd just up and leave.  I hope no one feels the same; I'd hate to see the HC lose a ton of members!

Hmmmm....

Flood protect good!

Hack Protect sucks!

Most of this stuff isnt worth waiting 5 more seconds to load.

Hackprotect because someone attacked HC deliberately to overload it. The question now is not of the convenience, but of would you rather HC be inaccessible? I didn't make that to make your browsing difficult ya know?

Come on, Val! There's got to be another way to solve this!!!

I replied in the "We used to have floodprotect, now we have..."-thread before I read this one, but I think I still mean what I said there.

Maybe I am an extraordinarily fast browser, nonetheless I get this on more than every other click. Ten seconds is actually much longer than it sounds. The only time I don't mind is when I'm reading pages I've never read before (and when you sum up all clicks, these are a minority).

As I said in the other thread, this forum ain't big enough for the both of us. Either hackprotect or I go. I just don't have the time to wait ten seconds between every click. Maybe I'm being unreasonable or impatient, but that's the way it is.

In case you don't remove it: Good luck with the site, and maybe I'll check back when HOMMV hits the shelves. Godspeed.

Unexpectingly the error came back. Me and the host are on it. We'll come up with something.
If I have to choose few members leaving or whole site being offline (all members leaving), the choice is pretty obvious.
We'll see how it goes and what we can come up with.

My QUestion is,

As with flood protect, is there any ways to be rid of the hack protect in individual accounts?

I mean through QP counts or post counts ect..

It drives me mad.. often I load a page and want to read the last reply as I post fairly frequently and view almost everything daily..  Then use the navigator.. but then it says hack protet reload in..

So is there anything other than joining the "holy Modhood" which can get me rid of this hack protect?

I don't understand

why you're claiming that HACK-PROTECT is a pain!
Why can't you wait just 10 seconds? That's not much at all.

Patience is a virtue!

I think the hackprotect sucks. It just came up a few mins ago even though it had been at least 15 seconds since I last visited a page. I am on ISDN at school now, but a lot of my time here will be spent using a slow 56K connection and the net is slow enough without having to wait for another page to load.

Hackprotect exist because someone tried to hack the site a few days after new year this year.

I'm not at liberty to give any further details on this though. (But you can read the messages posted by the admin, Valeriy, in this thread.)
