In response to Sir Natuz’ idea of posting my Dictionary for the Noobs, I bring you:
Mighty Mage's Dictionary of Limited Knowledge: Noob Edition
Noob: Common short term for newbie or someone who is new at something or new to a location or place such as HC (Heroes Community).
Mod: Persons assigned to moderate or keep the heroes here within reasonable
limits. They are: Deth8, Vesuvius, Zud, SapphireRavyn, Hexa, Pandora, Treupp,
Asmodean, MightyMage, Shadowcaster, Kuma, dragonsister, ThE_HyDrA, Djive and Dragon_Slayer. Respect them and HC will be a better place.
Valera or Valeriy: Heroes Community was started by Valeriy as well as Age of
Heroes. Valeriy is in other words, the big man in charge, head Honcho, whatever. although he does not show up at HC often he is still important and should be listened to. Val is the one who assigns the Mods their jobs. If there is ever a
post or thread by Val, read it. It is most likely important.
HC: HC is simply another term for Heroes Community, this place in case you still
don't know that.
M&M: Might and Magic of course. One of our favorite games.
HOMM: If you are here you should know what this is, Heroes of Might and Magic. Another of our favorite games and what many of our lives revolve around.
Gold Stars:  These are cool little things that let you and everyone else knows just
how much of a poster you are. The more you have, the more you have posted.
This is a guide originally made by Regnus_Kahn on the amount of stars and what rank they hold:
0-20 posts - no stars: Tavern Dweller
21-50 posts - one yellow star: Hired Hero
51-120 posts - two yellow stars: Adventuring Hero
121-300 posts - three yellow stars: Known Hero
301-800 posts - four yellow stars: Famous Hero
801-2000 posts - five yellow stars: Supreme Hero
2001+ - six yellow stars: Legendary Hero
Red Stars / Quality Points/ QP’s:  These are a little more important so keep your eye on them. These little buggers signify either a bonus or a penalty. Penalties are BAD. Never get below two stars, always strive for more. Different forums award Red Stars in different ways, ask a moderator what they’re looking for! A good rule of thumb is to stay positive, and respect other members when posting.
Penalty: These are applied when one goes against the rules of Heroes Community
and if enough of these add up you can be banned. So don't swear and keep your threads and posts clean. Make sure you read the FAQ, understanding forums rules is the best way to avoid penalty!

BB Code: This is a frequently asked question. Many wonder how they can make their text Bold, Italics, and underlined. This is a lot simpler than you think.
Simply take the first letter such as b for bold and place it in [brackets] at the beginning of the word, phrase or sentence you want bolded and at the end do the same thing only place a / before the b. The same idea applies for adding a link to a website. Simply place the letters url in a pair of brackets at the beginning of the link and repeat that at the end of the link making sure to add the / before the letters url.
Kooka Bar If you feel like adding a few smileys, colors, links, or images but can't remember (or don't feel like using) the BB Code, simply use the buttons made available to your left on the Kooka Bar named for its sponsor, KookaStar
Avatar: An Avatar is simply a little picture that a member chooses to represent him or herself. An Avatar is something that represents your personality beyond your user name. Others will recognize you easily by that picture as you get to know
them. Hundreds of avatars are available for you to choose at Heroes Community.
Click the Avatar List link near the top of any page to browse the picture gallery
and to find out which pictures are the most popular. Once you reach a certain post
level, you will have the choice to reserve your avatar. After 50 posts you may choose a custom avatar that is not available on the site, to do this simply post the avatar you’d like in this thread and Valeriy will upload it for you.
Now for a little info to help you further:
Read the FAQ
or list of Frequently Asked Questions , it contains the answers and other important and useful information.
Stay on-topic
Know what on-topic is and what's off-limits. Every forum is a little different
in what it talks about, and how it does the talking.
Lurk
Read the newsgroup without posting for a few weeks. This is known as "lurking,"
and it will give you the flavor of the forum.
DON'T SHOUT
TYPING IN ALL CAPS IS CONSIDERED SHOUTING. It's easier to read a mix of upper-and lower-case letters.
Ignore "trolls"
Some people get a thrill from posting "flames" (really obnoxious messages) just to
get a rise out of people. Sad, isn't it? If these members are becoming an issue for you, don’t hesitate to message a moderator for their assistance, but don’t worry the mods here will generally step in before it gets to that.
Don't "Spam"(well, maybe a little...and a little more...)
Spam is posting the same message to dozens, even hundreds or thousands of unrelated posts. No matter how important you think your message may be, it's not worth it. Think about it - if everyone posted about every topic, no one would be able to find anything.
If the urge to SPAM is too strong to resist, don’t panic, there is a place here for you too! Visit the Volcanic Wastelands to satisfy all your spamming needs!

Don't over quote: Copying a long post (more than 20 lines) just to add "I agree"
or "me too" is considered bad form.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Remember, every expert was a newbie once. So if someone needs help, don't laugh and 'poke fun' at them...

I recently discovered this thread but found it very useful. Instead of taking up space to say that you are leaving (like so many members do). This thread titled Away and Back is the perfect place to let others know you're leaving.
Posting a Picture: This can be an intimidating task for some, first problem is generally that they don’t know where or how to upload their pictures. Check the Upload Center for convenient space to store your images. Not sure if you’ve got the whole thing figured out yet? Practice makes perfect! Check out the Picture Posting Practice thread, you can learn from other people’s mistakes and make sure you get it right – also if you have questions there are always people who will help you out.

I just want to add:
"GL" or "gl" means Good Luck.
"Foo" or "Foobum" means Fool.
"wOOt" means Yeah!
"wOOt wOOt" mean Oh Yeah!.
Can this thread be "stickied" to the top of Page 1 in this forum, please? It has lots of good info! Thank you!

Well Lich that just doesn't make much sense to me
I play a 4 hour game of heroes, after a really long tough battle I finally defeat my opponant, wipe the sweat from my brow and he says "Guardians Grove!" ?
Why would he say that? I swear Its the most confusing part of every Heroes game, hehe
