But back to the topic.. H5, does anyone know when its tentative drop date is? Usually with 3do u add more time..lol
Also, anyone got a URL for good H5 news? I lost all my URLs from where i used to get heroes news 
On a side note, I miss playing Heroes...whether its part 1,2,3 or 4. Might try and get back into it. Just got a new work schedule, so I could play full games again, but not sure whether to play part 3 or 4

Well in that case im sure you figure out the greatness in heroes3 in a few years when you have finally passed that 4th grade

Heroes 3 WAS great game. There is no doubt. However, the key word there is WAS. The game woulda been great even now if maps strategies tactics and total outlook on Heroes woulda be allowed to evolve and change. But for the 4 years I played it. It was ALWAYS the same. Same 10 maps. Same week 3 Rush map designs. Random XL's gave the game its greatest chance for survival, however, as I already pointed out, 80% of the people were not willing to let go of there same old maps that they had memorized. Granted Randoms were not always the most balanced, but with the ability to make player made rules like NO DDoor No FLy etc, you could have a really balanced game.
Anyways, that is all ancient history. The bottom line is, if you Heroes 3er's really want(ed) Heroes 3 to survive you woulda been willing to evolve and change things up a bit. After a player made it to General from playing Desert War - HourGlass45 - and Giant War for 562 times. You would think the kewlness would wear off and you would want to prove yourself and your talents on differnt maps and conditions.
Heroes 4 is far from perfect, but it is evolved and new and different. I personally and excited and wanting Heroes 5. Just hope that they dont add MultiPlayer as an after thought. Would be much easier to play a multiplayer game in single player than it is to try and make a single player game multiplayer.

No sir, not ancient history...after 4 and a half years how can it still be so active? Because it IS a great and always will be. I play absolutely nothing but random L or XL and always have a great opponent to play, whether it be midnight or tel, chubby, kuma, tim, andi, zilo and so many others that I dont play. These people are as keen on the game as me and still play it regularly. The game is not dead and I will keep playing it til we see what heroes 5 brings us, and I wont touch heroes4.

hiya Rychen Buddy! We had some great games on Randoms. You proved my point though. It appears that Randoms are finally catching on among the majority, or atleast enough to make it worthwhile. To bad it wasnt realized amongst the majority a year or so ago when activity got dull and started to decline.
Andi plays random? Wow... I am impressed and PROUD!

i hate to use cliches but.. this just really applies well here... dont judge a book by its cover! you h3 guys played h4 for a couple weeks (some i bet played even less than that) and declared it crap when really you had just seen the tip of the iceberg. trust me, you might think you do, but you dont know ANYTHING about h4. Hell, if you read the first 10 pages of The Hobbit, you'll put it down and say its a terrible book...

The thang you dont understand Jinxer is that it dont matter about the comparison of the two games & your so forth limited strategies when many other players seem to learn somethang new everyday.
It's like playing cards or DOminoes etc.
You play it for yrs & it's been around for centuries, well at least cards, but you have fun playing it, playing your friends it just dont matter.
As long as your having fun playing with your friends or tough oponents, you choose it thats the example.

The reason h3 people wont give h4 a chance is...
Cause 3do themselves gave up on H4 and said it was crap. they never fixed the long data transfers for multiplayer did they? will they ever? prolly not
H3 used to be pretty bad, but 3do worked to fix it up and it evolved into a great game...a shame 3do didnt help fix h4 to make the h3 lovers like it. I remember rychen wanted to give h4 a chance, but due to his modem speed it was nearly impossible to play it

Indeed Jb@stard, mp was totally impossible for me, who wants to play against someone with a dial up loop all the way out to Australia? I still play hotseat with the missus sometimes but it always seemed to me that 3doh destroyed this game before it was even released and that was the sad part for me.
And Jinxer, Andi has probably played randoms for 2 years now, conservatively I reckon me and he have played 100 games on random XL, and another 100 unfinished ones

ahh but that's where your reasoning fails you.
I think bacharakis put it best when he said something like "it was divine intervention that h4 was a great mp game.. designers didnt know they made great mp game". Just because the designers think it's bad doesnt mean it is Does it matter whether or not the game is purposely good, to make it good? Does symbolism hafto be purposely placed by an author of a book in order for a reader to roll that symbolism around on his tongue? Do certain fun strategical aspects of a HoMM map hafto be purposely intended by the mapmaker in order for them to occur in a game? I know the latter is not true, due to personal experience 
Anyway h3'ers, throw out everything you have been saying and weigh only this.. IS H4 A GOOD GAME OR NOT ... anyone who has actually tried it (that means NOT you) will tell you it is.
