Awaiting for a match Woock. maybe you'll win at least once.
Tower vs Fortress XL, radnom Jeabus Cross (whatever way It's written) No Water, Strong Monsters mpossible (without grails resources and anything that makes the game easier)
Will come tommorrow. Um... No It's today alredy! Or is it tomorow? Or the day before? Umm.... I'm confused.
Anyway I'll come at wednesday.

this is rather difficulty and map size dependant nevertheless conflux is the best in most of the possible situations w/ dominating advantages: gold mine week 1 6 firebirds beginning of week 3 dividable troops and the list goes on
dungeon is not bad on easier difficulties or rich maps otherwise u'll never get those ores and money for end of week 2 dragons whereas half of the races can develope to their 7th before the 3rd week on an average rook but man dungeon has arguably the best mage guild after spell probability analysis my friend did a while back
tower is good but needs relatively bigger map since giants come early but titans late hard to maintain the expensiveness that mage guild tend to make a lot of ppl happy
necro and castles r ownage in most situtations as well but if on a quite small maps then the mighty stronghold and fortress will dominate due to very early developement of high lvl relatively cheap troops rampart is hard to tell since it's never gonna get those dragons but their grandelves r more damaging than titans on weekly production basis
inferno on xl = demon harvesting = victory

Fortress is my favorite town but damn, they are so hard to play. I'm sure someone could get good enough and start beating dungeon and stuff. Most of their units are so defensive and slow. At least they can defend their castles well

I always hate tower because for some reason I never liked magic towns. To me, heroes feels better just fighting units, not seeing who can get fifth level magic guild and stack spellpower first...

I like Tower because it's the only town with three different level shooters. And maybe a little because of the mage guild structures. 
That way I can have Archery and Sorcery so I don't have to get my hands dirty in combat. I know it's pretty cheap, but it works for me!
And my favorite Tower hero is Solmyr, not Neela. I think he's overpowered.

Seriously, I don't think there's any type of "best". If you by best means gives you the greatest chance of winning given the map played is randomly choosen among a set of often played maps by often used rules, then I'd say Necropolis is probably the best choice for most players.

Everytime I read the combinaton "Tower" and "Solmyr" I get a strange feeling near my stomach. I guess it's some kind of noobiism.....

If the combination wins me battles and isn't cheating, I'll gladly use it (how is that noobish?  ). After all, the developers wouldn't have kept it in the game if it was really so overpowered.

I think Angelito's point was not about Solmyr being overpowered, but about him being extremely weak to win any serious battle. He develops rather bad and has a spell he can't use when it is the most important, ie first week.
Was a feared scout when hit&run was accepted but other than that, he is not a bonus or a good hero. But he looks great.

He has the spell at least, and getting to level 4 mage guild is pricy and takes much more time than a week. The fact that he casts the spell with more power than others makes him uniquely powerful in my opinion (that's why Deemer and Aislinn are also quite powerful; if a hero had Implosion as a specialty that would be overkill). Besides, he can easily get the experience from wandering creatures and chests to boost his knowledge. If all else fails, build the Wall of Knowledge. And why would he be a hit-and-run scout? I use him as a main hero because his chain lightning is more powerful when he reaches, say, level 20. Combine that with the Sorcery skill, and you have a really powerful spellcaster.
