hero devolpment

i'v ebeen playing this game for a bit(Homm3) and i've noticed its much diffrent then homm2 when it comes to everything, my old strats dont work anymore. anyways, i've desided that i liek to use magic alot for DD, so at every level, i take a elemental skill(earth, water, etc etc), and then logistics, wisdom and socery. teh last one is ussully archery. anyone think this is a good skill set?
also, how do you guys manage to have more then 2 heros and devolope them well?

Well there are many strategies... I play for a main hero... I mean... let him take all the experiencie, and the other are just for recolect resources and creatures(from the dwellings) and explore... but a good strategy is to pick up all the experiencie posible with all heroes... for a emergency you know... here in the library you can find a lot of strategies for all... just search

Xervis,
congrats on putting yourself out there!!!
(hell I know what I'm doing in the game and am intimidated when replying to these things)!!!

Check out the thread for favorite skills ("the 8 skills of a hero")...  there's allot of ideas and most have good explanations for their preferences....

I agree with Lord Crusader...  One Huge hero running around doing all the damage...  I use my other guys for defense perposes (until I get TP with advanced earth)....

Personaly I think you're on the right track but I tend not to use Fire and Water.  Earth and Air have all I need but you'll see that allot of others like'em!!  Archery always depends on how many shooters you have!!

Keep it up!!!

Good one Jebus,
But X, do a search and you'll find that some people use might heroes alot more than magic ones. I started playing those tactics and my game is a hole lot better. Basic armorer is actually really good when you find out in a thread that it can actually go up to 400%. Anyways, the search option is really the best way to go.

i just thought of something:
i really like the idea of just one hero running amoke and killing everything(works wonders in HOMM2_, but if you have 2 castles to feed him, why not have one castle feed one hero, and the other castle feed the other? that way you can have the 'main' one still be big man on teh mountain, and teh otehr guy can beef up with wins as well.

I'd agree but hopefully you get TP with adv earth and, not only protect all your towns, but beef up 1 hero so when you meet the opponents the fights are more one sidded and you sufer allot less casualties!!

A slaughter is always more beneficial than a close fight!!

... my way of looking at it that's all!!

Jebus is right,
You should take the strongest armies of each castle to combine them on your main hero. Just be carefull with the morale. Use your other troops only to clear the shroud and explore where you want your main to go. I never explore with my main. That way:
1 - your main is closer to your towns (if no TP)
2 - you know where you want to go with your main and this saves you some blind steps in the shroud.

A slaughter is always better and you don't loose as many troops.

And what do you think how long u will need to clear your whole area when running around with ONE hero only?

If i run around with 8 heroes, and chain my army between them, i get a lot more fights, lot more ressources, lot more gold....and with those stuff, i can buy my whole army earlier and do topes and hives when u even not think about them....and then i can do the really hard fights with my main and get the big points to level him up....until this days, i level up all heroes a bit and can decide a bit later who will be my main (the one who gets logistics or earth first...and so on..).

Your way of playing only works against the computer....but NEVER against other human players....try it..and learn..

You ever tried to kill your opponent on a L size map without under in week 3? (some veterans do it in week 2..)

...see you in the zone mate

I'm totally agree with angelito... the chaining strategy is use for a lot a good players... you can have 4 or 5 heroes in a medium area... and you can use the same army  to fight with all heroes... but I'm still thinkin that you must have a main hero... this hero who take the experiencies from the treasuries and attack the main  buildings (I mean dragon utopias, griffin bastion, medusa bank, naga bank, etc) and have all the better artifacts...

hehe, when you see a vet come getcha week3 with exp fire and curse, you'll never leave your main without water again but then again, some still use crag hack, when imo Gundula does the work much better

Can someone explain the "chaining your armies" strategy???

....  It's funny how when you get use to your own strategies and get comftorble, you might ignore or disregard some skills that you find useless....  until of course you get a friendly threat from a vet (Looking in your direction Lord Lazy)!!!  Makes you really analize your strategy.

Chaining your heroes

This strategy is used usually at the beginning of a game to clear the map (your land) faster. You have all your heroes (more than 2 the first day) at a length where each hero can be reached by the other. Then you use the same army on different heroes to level them up at the same speed and decide later witch one will be main. In the mean time, your army has cleared your land in no time and you are getting all the mines, gold chests and arties. It works pretty damn well!!

I love to play with conflux(use grindan(b.Wisdom and b. Earth magic+350gold) or gelare(b. Wisdom and b.Water magic+350gold), and then i buy magic university and teach them all magics....plus something from this set of skills(good - little less good) sorcery, archery, mysticisam, defence, ressistance , learning, intteligence, or diplomacy....and play them as main heroes, and with little luck and good foreign towns(mage guilds) they can become wery powerfull elementalist...you wonder why conflux? 'Cause they are the most cheepest units for example you dont need mercury to produce firebirds only 1500k gold, and they are pretty strong with powerfull hero...two kind of archers and if you can change pixies with some other ranged unit, win is half way yours......OPINIONS?? )))) or
