Revelution of stronghold and Fortress

I think that in HOMM 3 stronghold and Fortress are weak so lettīs iMprove some modefies. In stronghold i donīt like the units, theire are barberianīs, not fragil units, about fortress, the Hiras and the dragon fils , are realy weak so letīs find out one other long range unit.
oder thing the stronghold and Fortress townīs in side are beotifull so lets find a way to put them ok!!!

What do you say!!

P.S. (sorry about the mistakes)

Aside from your message being hard to read and difficult to follow, I think Stronghold is just fine how it is. It is my favorite town, after all.

Yer right Rogue.  I got a headache reading this.  Look kid... there are no problems with Stronghold(except for that Cyclops Cave cost), only Fortress.  Thing is...you probably haven't realized it.  Take a look at the chart that shows percentage chances for heroes' stats when they level up.  Take a look at the witch.  In case you missed it, levels 2-9 say 5% attack, 15% defense, 40% spell power, 40% knowledge.  Do any other heroes compare to this obvious favoring of magic?  Yes, the Wizard.  But, unlike the Wizard, the Witch only has an option of a 3rd level mage guild.  Stupid? Yes.  An injustice?  Yes.  Can it be fixed?  Why bother with HOMM4 around the corner.  3do tried to address to disparity in troop strength by making the lizard warriors and serpent flies more powerful.  They should have added a 4th and 5th level mage guild for the Fortress.

I disagree.....

I think BOTH Stronghold and Fortress are fine towns.
If you start with Witch then you have to conquer a town with atleast a 4th level guild. But you should be able to do so. Atleast from a computer opponent or from a grey town. With Beastmaster you will do fine with just a 3rd level guild, although higher level spells won`t hurt either.
Although it will usually take a long until you have an expert Wisdom.

hey gootch ya bum

what i cant read anymore is: stronghold and fortress suck!!! they have only guild3, omg...

what you forget is: do i want to build a mage guild in my home town fast or do i want to build it in a 2nd or 3rd town?

can any other town match the might heroes of strong and fortress, barbs and beastmasters? is any other L7 as cheap and effective as the ancient? does any other town have faster scouts than fortress, or units that are able to take out much stronger creatures without losses (moouus and hydras on 100%) ?

And not only do they both rock, i think Stronghold comes with easily the best heroes, Crag, Gundula, Gurn, and just about any other barbarian can get you going really fast.

Yeah sure the are great when considered overall ... but there's also the fun of playing a town...and IMHO is sucks to play the Stronghold. Fortress is only slightly better/nicer to play.

Fun

Well, I recently killed 77 ogre magis with 4 hydras. Hero was below level 10, had no spellbook and all I lost were 50 hitpoints. Everybody has its own taste, but for me this IS fun

Of course Hail.. but I’m talking from a different perspective … I don’t play online … nuff said!
Playing the AI will not require that I go the limit! So I can afford the luxury of picking a town I like to play

Andi you're wrong.  The only beastmaster worth crossing over to another town is Tazar, obviously because of his specialty.  Bron is only good if he's available with his basilisks.  And though Alkin starts with offense and armorer, he's still a beastmaster.  If having a higher defense meant a 5% reduction in damage for every point, then beastmasters would have been equal to Barbarians.  But the increment is only 2.5% damage reduction.  Therefore, it seems to me that attack is twice as valuable as defense.  Beastmasters rate below knights and overlords overall because of the way their points are allocated.  Barbs definitely rock and make taking artillery worthwhile.  The witches would work with Rampart, Inferno, and Tower.  In fact, Andara works better for those towns than he does for his own.  And in the competition of which Intel specialty hero is the best, he takes top honors.

In heroes IV, it seems like only the names matter anyway, so they're just going to bring names/faces/pesonalities they like because they don't have their specialties anymore...

Fortress Heroes are not so great as Stronghold Heroes but they are not bad either. Besides Armorer will reduce ALL damage you got while Offense will increase only melee damage.

Gorgon Hero is good. And has good secondary skills. Armore and Offense.

Gnoll Hero is also good. More Gnolls at the beginning and has good secondary skills too. Armorer and Leadership.

Mirlanda is my favourite witch. No special reason for that though.

Of Stronghold Heroes Tazar is the best. In general Battle Mages are better than Barbarians.

I hope none confuses me, rogue or Andi. I would chance my avatar (although I was first here, at least before rogue) to either Orlanth or Humakt (Gods from Glorantha). If someone could find me a good picture of them.

Thunder, you raised an interesting possibility with Miranda.

She might be an effective counter to the Barbarian Hordes, with just one more spell, which is curse.

Water is just about a given to Witches though I don't know their chance to get Fire Magic is.  She needs it and as she only starts with Advanced Wisdom she has a decent shot with it.

The only weakness of the Barbarians is their inability to get Water Magic.  Their strength(and it is truly unbelievable) is the damage they do with their creatures.

Miranda is one of the few magic heroes that can counter these bulls.  Round 1 Mass Curse followed by Round 2 Mass Weakness(her specialty) will reduce the damage of the Barbarians' creatures tremendously.

That would give her some time to lob damaging spells and thus possibly equalize that sort of fight.

I resigned long ago to admitting that the best might heroes are better than the best magic heroes long ago.  Now, it's time to take another look....

Though, Crag Hack + Orb of Inhibition= Death of magic hero.

Even although stronghold and fortress are the Might towns, I like playing for them.

Stronghold:
goblins... hmm...
wolf riders... good for their SPCL...
orcs... nothing interesting here...
ogres... yeah, ogre magi! cool...
thunderbirds... very little chance of striking with a lightning bolt...
cyclops... well, two wall-destructing units in army - that's good...
behemoths... Oh I love ancients! They're cool and cheap and they look very nice!
Heroes: Dessa for logistics and Crag for offense.

Fortress [one of my favourite towns]:
gnolls... hmmm...
lizardmen... bad...
flies... very bad...
basilisks... hehe...
gorgons... Where did you see an Azure Dragon?? Oh, there! One moment, I'll call Alkin []...
wyverns... another bad unit...
hydras... slow but very useful...
Heroes: start with Bron, get basilisks on Week 1 and start clearing up every piece of terrain around your town... then return recruit hydras and - attack!

Yes, magic is the weakness of these towns. But Adrienne (Playing with Fire campaign) is a good witch. Expert Fire Magic at the start - only find the Berzerker and your life will become very easy!

Newsflash Odvin, Adrienne is a campaign hero and under most circumstances is not allowed.

Tazar and Alkin are the best heroes for this town.  You gamble when you take Bron as your starting hero.

Avoid the witches unless you know that you have access to higher level spells.  In any event, the skills that are offered to them would make any heroes vet pull their hair out.

Yes, Tazar and Alkin are good. But for small maps, I think that the best choice would be Bron for his starting basilisks. In this case, you can quickly collect all the resources around and gain control of some useful mines.

And for Adrienne... I know that she's a campaign hero. I just meant that she's the best of all witches, and if I would be given a choice, I would select her. Btw she also starts with the Inferno spell, which can be useful at the start.
