Is CH more approved by Ubihole than HC?
They (Celestial Heavens) have Ubihole goodies (H6 t-shirts, H6 USBs, H6 mousemats...) to give out in various contests. We have none (that I know of).
Why we no have goodies?

No active admin might have something to do with it. Also, HC is just a message forum. CH has other components, including a news page.

@Vokial: I remember, but Clash of Heroes wasn't developed by Black Hole.
@Corribus: We have our Age of Heroes headlines, though it isn't updated that frequently. They do seem more organized I admit.

It's not a matter of favouritism, it's just that Kalah and his team are always poking around looking for stuff to give out. Anybody at all is free to e-mail Irina, and I've been considering organising some contests here, but struggled to find the time in the past few months, having started plenty of new projects. I wish we could get another insider for HC who's more invested in contests than I am; it sucks now that Elvin's gone.
But now that you've mentioned it, I will shoot a mail to Ubisoft and see if we can get some bonuses.
As for the AoH headlines, I agree that the updates are much too sporadic for comfort. That one's not down to lack of time so much as a complete lack of faith in myself to stay unbiased as an insider. For a long time I've strongly considered passing the duty to someone else who isn't in the closed forum for that reason, but nobody seems available to replace me. I would love to be posting at least one article a day, and I have been considering asking around to find a co-poster to reduce bias, or even just somebody to quickly convert the headlines I write into html, but I doubt anybody is interested in doing such a task. If someone is, they are welcome to let me know.

I'd be down with overseeing a contest, like an H6 Unique Skill Contest or something. I did a Unique Perk Contest in the Coliseum that ran for quite awhile and it was a lot of fun for me for the most part.
Except there's two concerns.
1) I really don't feel like communicating with some corporate chick to get the goodies. I'd prefer to just do the program management and let somebody else be bothered with the administrative stuff
2) My opinion of the forum has depleted in the past 3 months. The prime function of the Heroes sections isn't to discuss gameplay; it's for people to nerdrage over a game that they don't play to begin with. I'm not sure how much participation we're going to end up getting either way. Having more members isn't necessarily going to translate to having very many members that are actually of any value, or having decently active contests. Just look at the ICTC right now. It's pretty damn dead compared to even the last one, let alone older ones, and I don't think the reason is that people aren't being bribed with a little rubber figurine. Part of it is that I think the rules and layout of the ICTC are currently very poorly conceived, but either way I think it's pretty apparent that the spark of interest in the community is very feeble compare to ICTC 1 & 2.

True... there's an overwhelming negativity surrounding H6 on HC right now...
The H6 release was supposed to spread this light over HC that would draw in new, enthusiastic members. The ICTC would take advantage of this by letting people share their visions in a competitive, friendly community contest.
It's no wonder the ICTC is so small then; most of the discussion on HC isn't about creativity (which it should be, this is a strategy game forum) but rather about bashing or fixing an apparently generally considered broken game. It's hard to ponder on potential expansion of the game when the basis is so flawed.
Personally I am in stand-by mode about H6. I'm not a hardcore fan so I didn't pre-order or buy it on release, I waited and read others opinions. Can't say that the recent discussions on H6 has improved my stance.
I don't remember the H5 release, but I don't think the game was that much better at release actually... why is the negativity so overwhelming this time?

Although I didn't purchase H5 until quite some time after it was released (due to hardware limitations), I remember fan impressions being quite negative about that game as well.
One potential explanation for any putative extra negativity this time around is that the fact there was a H5 at all (given the way 3DO ended) was something of a small miracle, no matter what condition it was in. H6 has no such "Phew!" or "Honeymoon" factor to help sustain it.

@Corribus: Oh yeah you're right about that... the reason I bought H5 in the first place was because I remembered playing it when I was little and got these huge nostalgia vibes.
I didn't even notice any bugs when playing that game because my eyes were just shimmering with nostalgia... loving the town screens and music and everything...
H6 on the other hand has to stand on its own...

Or because the people that think the game is moderately enjoyable or better are hiding under a rock in terror, or - more likely - have migrated to a different website / lost interest in visiting websites.
I'm not going anywhere because I've been here several years and I frequent the Wastelands and the other non-gaming sections, but if I was coming here for the first time in October I'm fairly confident that I wouldn't have stuck around. All you need to do is use your imagination and put yourself into the shoes of somebody that enjoys the game and wants to discuss gameplay. How motivated would you be to become an active member here? Like it or not, this is not a hospitable forum in the sense of offering much for a half-enthusiastic poster.
I'll probably boot up a creative contest at some point for the hell of it just to see if I get many biters, but the forecast is looking bleak atm.

You highlight another serious concern about bothering at all with looking for prizes. If we're engaging in competitions and accepting statues of Michael, that's implicit of lots of excitement and activity surrounding the game, and a relatively happy fanbase. But almost everything I've seen at HC - and CH, for that matter - is to the absolute contrary, either apathy or grave anger. I don't think it's appropriate to reflect a community sentiment that simply doesn't exist.

I didn't know that. What can POSSIBLY be the reason for such a rule?! I'm sure the devs are not even aware %10 of the H6 bugs we have found and listed. Maybe, after the release of 1.2 patch, I must post the updated bug list on their Facebook wall? Would that be appropriate, what do you people think?
