def tool does allow you to place correct shadow, but it makes the island unavailable to walk on with your hero, he will be seen under it. i know you already knew that, you worked on sky islands before i did.

thanks, cor. i also have asphalt patches for forge, not pictured here, but will also be included in my next upload.
as well, i have more forge stuff to make, that i haven't, yet. more buildings and such, but namely, a forge ship, and other water-terrain stuff, like oil refineries. i don't think forge should just be kept on land, do you?

Forgive an ignorant question (and I'm sure I could ask Sal elsewhere) but: how do you use all these things? What'd be great would be able to import all these kinds of objects into your map editor, but that doesn't seem possible any time in the near future.

you mean, as different kinds of objects, not already available to the map editor? you can through erm, but for now, since i still have not tried to learn it, i just use pre-existing slots. i have used the tower in the upper left corner of the forge screen, as a "pillar of fire", for another map. but i plan on scripting them all, once i am satisfied with the objects i have at my disposal for the map editor. doesn't look like i will be scripting anytime soon, though.

Siriously...once he releases the mod, a simple click activation in era is sufficient to automatically move those objects in editor and ready for use. Fred, IMO better release them as dead objects (without ID), so anyone could choose what he wants them to be.

lol, this is the 2nd time you have stated something i have already known today, that i would have thought you knew that i knew. if i changed the way i put out my upload, i would have to change all of the previous stuff i have already put out, right? yeah, i'm not doing that. all of my stuff is blank, just put in the right columns. people can make the objects tapdance, if they want to. it's up to them.

No, in your previous post you wrote that you use pre-existing slots, so I concluded you gave them already used ID's. Both ways are ok, is just that is more work for a mapmaker to change ID using editor properties.
Just a suggestion: as you focus more on creating full layouts than independent objects, it will be handier for mapmakers if your objects are ranged in editor by layouts, not by ID' or what they could look alike. IE: all forge objects in one specific column, all dead town objects in another, etc.

New Upload, 671 new defs(1,788 total) for download: My New Object Patch
THIS PATCH WILL NOT GET RID OF ANYTHING, JUST ADDS NEW AND UPDATED OBJECTS. THERE IS NO NEED TO DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN INSTALL IT.
Screens:
Some objects aren't shown, things I only touched up. For the ones that are familiar from other people's uploads, all of them have been worked on. I faced some objects the right way, recontrasted or reshaded, trimmed others, fixed the shadows on some, etc. I still have a long, long way to go before I am satisfied.
Oh, I added back the underwater giant squid(mostly JimV's work), because they were already done. The rest of the tentacle stuff I am still perfecting.
And again, all of the terrain patches have 8 defs for each kind shown, not just the one def.

Is this patch containing all the defs from your previous mods too?
Cuz I deleted by error the freobjt.exe I already had in box.com. Uploading now the new.

well, you probably already know by now, sal, but i'm just adding to what already existed. that's why i numbered them FRED0001.def-FREDXXXX.def, so that i wouldn't run out of room anytime soon. so any patches i come out with will contain the old defs as well as the new ones, and everything will be drop-in. i will be improving my own older work from time to time(i have this time as well, but not all of it, yet), and all of it gets replaced under the same name it was before, so that there are no errors if somebody has already put my objects on a map, and want to add new ones. nothing gets messed up, just improved.

pal, if you can't read the post that was right before yours, where i answered the question you asked, i can't help you. it IS difficult for me to answer the same question i JUST answered. put a little effort into your quest for knowledge before you post questions that irritate, k? people get upset having to needlessly repeat themselves, because people are too lazy to read.
