Let's see how long it takes them to nerf Enigma. With Kaya, Scepter, Refresher, and Radiance he's basically strong enough to wipe out a team alone. Midnight Pulse is OP as it is now, being subject to damage amplification.

The last tournament was pretty cool. LGD was simply unstoppable at the end against Liquid. However, Liquid did won the second match (best of 5) with a magical performance from Miracle playing Invoker. Then, the third game they threw back, in a similar fashion than game one. And the last game was pristine for LGD. They simply went ahead another level of playstyle.
On the same subject, I was pleased to learn that paiN Gaming has Brazilian players, except for the mid, w33haa, which I always liked wonder how he ended up there ... They finished on 7th from 12 teams. Not bad for a start for these locals.
South America community was never a very strong, nor acknowledged gaming power in Dota 2, but some appear here and there eventually.

Epicenter was great. I watched the finals and saw LGD win over Liquid which was well deserved. Kyle and Bulldog made paneling and commentating so much better (for the memes). Not sure why Romanian w33 went to Brazilian team Pain Gaming, as far as I know he's not been doing too great lately so maybe not too many options left before TI.
Biggest surprise to me was FlyToMoon making 3rd, defeating a bunch of big names. I'm a fan of Cinderella stories, but I'm not a fan of Russian teams, so I'm kinda conflicted about them. We'll see if they'll be consistent up until TI or if their success at Epicenter was just a fluke.

Nice seeing that PaiN is doing fairly ok. Took down Liquid in the best of 3 yesterday. Right now, they are seemingly winning the first match against Mineski.
And then they got 3rd place! Quite de feat. I'm specially glad that w33ha had some good results with us, given he's already suffering only by playing on our hellish server.
****
The Battle Pass is ok. As usual, some stupid immortals here and there, some new amusing taunts and the voice-casting for our chat wheel, besides the tipping, which is being pretty much used (and abused) on the professional matches. It's rather a good addition, I think. It makes the game feel a bit more alive not to mention the Plus voices, playing a particular role every now and then.
It looks like recalibration season is about to begin. A pity that in my server things are so chaotic. Never a balanced match. Or it is impossible or it is too easy. And these unstable circumstances are never fair upon us support players.
****
And the China Major is having some nice skirmishes. Although I missed a couple of predictions, the winning teams feel like deserving their wins so far. I was hoping TNC would make it, but it fell in the end.
Tonight, Liquid vs Secret might be enjoyable to watch. And then LGD vs VP might be really blow by blow. In my opinion, one of the two will be the champion.

Still remember Secret and OG from back then, so much has changed over the years. EU seems to be struggling a bit, hopefully teams can still deliver good performances. And hopefully I can watch them without any lag or slideshow or stream crashing or players disconnecting, because honestly it's a tad too much already.

Secret was demolished by Liquid. Rather an anticlimax upper bracket actually, having VP falling for LGD by 2 x 0 too. Hope the next skirmishes will be a bit more balanced. Stomps are sort of elegant, but also feel unfair.
And Volvo is ruining the recalibration. My 3 first matches I got AWFUL mid laners, like, really, really, REAAAAALLLYYYY bad ones, at complete odds with the opposing team. They snowballed and then I, support player, got to see everything crashing down as my team got nuked to hell shamefully.
The 4th match was the complete opposite. The enemy team was really bad. So, it's no fun at all.

The new map is nice! I have it already. The voices and sounds are cast with echoes, as if we are indeed in a cave. The overall feeling of it is great, easier to spot heroes trying to juke and see the differences and paths in the woods.
The new creeps are ... actually I haven't even noticed that much of a change. I'm actually using those Caster phrases here and there and getting stupid stuff at CM's roulette.
The cavern I'm doing slowly. Went the path of support until getting stuck between Chen, Naga and Bounty Hunter.
********
Virtus Pro trashed Secret on the first and third game. It felt like Secret would get it tight after winning the second one, but the third game was simply a non stop show of Void and OD, No[o]ne showing great positioning when saving the team from Axe's initiation. This victory was after beating Optic by 2 x 0.
Meanwhile, Liquid simply passed by LGD by 2 x 0 on the upper bracket, with convincing gameplay.
Tomorrow, then, we'll watch Liquid vs Virtus Pro at the grand final.

Yea, most likely. I'll be watching tomorrow's series for sure. Would be funny if Liquid lost another shot at their first Major ever.
EDIT: But they didn't. Congrats Liquid. EZ Clap

First game for my calibration... I get to pick first because no one else will, so I pick Enigma. We end up without a mid hero, and Disruptor is afk for 50% of the game, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.... I need therapy after this game.
The second game... LC - gotta go for the safe win, right? Well, we had Broodmother mid vs Kunkka, and no support even though we had Silencer and Phoenix in the team. I'm losing hair.

Well, I had a Tinker mid vs something that ended up 1-19. My last game today I had 4 carries in the team, while I was an offlaner. 2 minutes after game starts, people start bickering each other, asking why they are in the same lane as others. That makes me wonder if they see the Strategy Map before the game at all? If they know how to mark their positions beforehand? If they know what they heroes do? Anyway, we still won because my bracket is that awful.
I recalibrated 13 (THIRTHEEN) levels below my previous medal. Now, I need to walk the lane of Hell, full of Peruvians and obnoxious Brazilians. This calibration model is rather awful. It feels like it's only based on wins, rather than performance.

The problem with playing in lower MMR bracket is that the teamwork aspect is almost nonexistent. Looking at the ranks of the people I've been assigned with, I noticed that most of them are Guardian rank. Kind of sucks that the idea of roles isn't even considered.

I surprisingly won my two calibration games after playing nothing but turbo the last 3 weeks
Rising up in lower ranks is maddening. Depending on how low, picking certain heroes (and being able to play them well) really helps to quickly rise up just because a few heroes come off as very over powered in lower ranks cause nobody knows how to counter them.
Arc warden was a big one for me. If you can play him well enough hes like a time bomb that guarantees victory after like 35 mins. Phoenix is also a good one. Easier to counter but can snowball very well imo. Chen will destroy in lower tiers with sheer pushing power. Basically the harder to play heroes thrive.
You have to consider that Dota has been dumbed down over the years to the point where basically anyone that puts in a little effort can manage to dominate in that game. Get creative when figuring out ways to win. The Ubisoft method works well here : throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks. I went a month of playing where I literally bought a divine rapier every single game no matter what hero I picked. My win rate had never been higher lol.

I'm usually a support player, but giving supp in these low ranks feels like it's no use. I somewhat manage to get Godlike with Oracle, but the power spike won't endure much into the late game. The team needs to work and, as said above, teamwork in lower ranks is VERY difficult to achieve. Because if you say something to help or suggest something, the cursing and rant start immediately, xenophoby everywhere.

I love Turbo, but it's ruined my ability to enjoy normal DotA. It just feels so slow. Try to last hit for 10 minutes, and if you die more than once in the laning phase, your part in the game is basically over unless the other team blunders. Playing an active-ability-oriented hero? Have fun not having any mana and not being able to contribute anything. Survive a teamfight at low health? Run back to base to heal, because you'll die when you run into an enemy hero. It only really becomes fun around the 25-minute mark when you can actually consistently do stuff, but even then, items take a really long time to farm, so countering something on the other team isn't really a viable option. And if you die in the lategame, you might as well alt-tab out and do something else for a while.
That sounds negative, but I still like it. It's just too much of playing DotA involves not playing DotA.
That's why I want Turbo Ranked.
