))))) explained so cool !!! )))))
why,why bugs? hate the bugs!! ))))
1) Jadame will canonically have a hive of at least semi-sapient bugs by the timeframe of the NWC games (roughly half a millennium or less after after Olden Era).
2) In the NWC-continuity context, there is a thematic link between the apparently demonic and insectoid hives.

Anyways, I really don't buy any of that post. Like, you mean to tell me that Unfrozen was working on a new setting entirely (plausible), but Ubisoft forced them to change it to an existing setting which also just so happened to have:
- Dark elves, which are not present anywhere else in NWC continuity.
- A hive of giant, intelligent bugs, also not present anywhere else.
- A close relation to an extradimensional plane where you fight Lovecraftian monsters, also pretty uncommon; usually you're fighting robots at that stage of a Might and Magic game.
- No large wizard faction.
Like, any of those things alone would be excusable, but all four at the same time lining up with Jadame as a setting is way too unbelievable. Occam's razor. It's too perfect of a coincidence to be true.
My knowledge of the rpgs is very limited so this is an interesting point.
That said.. I am of the opinion that if the lore doesn't allow for a wizard faction, the team should find a way to add one. Simple as that. It doesn't matter if they have a snow or desert theme nor how many returning units there will be. As long as it feels like academy of course.

Here's my thoughts on all of the factions that aren't in the game, with rankings for how likely I think they are:
Stronghold: It's a thematically and mechanically distinct faction with a currently unclaimed region to be its home country (Ravage Roaming), and it even has significant presence in Might and Magic VIII with Zog's Fortress. It's also the only one of the original four that's currently missing. The devs have dropped hints about adding a seventh faction in EA, and Stronghold is a no-brainer. 9/10
Fortress: Another one that can slot right in, considering MM8 outright starts with you in a lizardman village. The only concession is not having Hydras, Couatls, or possibly even Gorgons makes filling out their roster a bit harder. 8/10
Cove: Regna was a major force in MM8, and pirates are a solid fantasy archetype. Cove has been added in both Era of Chaos and the tabletop game, so they're not opposed to using it. The big problem is that there's no naval travel and no plans for it currently, and you can't have pirates without boats. An expansion that adds boats though? Obvious pick. 6/10
Dwarf Fortress: Surprisingly not an unlikely inclusion. Dark dwarves are one of the major races on Jadame and are thus far totally unrepresented outside of the backstory for one of Hive's heroes. I could see a thematic overhaul that makes them more earthy and evil rather than snowy/fiery and honourable. The biggest issue is that people tend not to like this faction very much. 7/10
Academy: Obviously a beloved town, but there are some major issues with its inclusion. For one, there's no wizard faction in Jadame. Not impossible, but certainly an extra hiccup. For two, we don't know for sure but this might have thematic overlap with the secret faction. A decent candidate for a DLC faction with a campaign to justify its inclusion. 5/10
Conflux: Already covered by Sylvan. As much as I love this faction, there's literally no point. 1/10
Inferno: I've seen a lot of people request a classic Inferno (usually instead of Hive, but that's not happening guys. The whole plot's already been created). I don't think that would be impossible, since you could justify it with the actual demons that exist in the setting instead of it being Kreegans. That said, this has humongous overlap with Hive and would still be a major stretch. 2/10
Sanctuary: This one comes up quite a bit on Reddit surprisingly. I get it; it's a really thematically unique faction that feels wasted being stuck in Heroes VI. But, there is zero precedent for anything like this to exist on Enroth. The devs are allowed to create new lore of course, but this would still feel out of place, especially in a prequel. It also seems like a bit of a miss when Cove makes more sense as a water faction. 3/10
Factory: Sort of the "unloved" of the two HotA towns, with only a fraction of the support Cove has gotten. Nevertheless, I've seen a few requests for this here and there. I have no idea how this could exist since it's based pretty heavily on made-up lore, but anything is possible I guess. I just feel like if they're going to make up something whole-cloth, they'll make up another original faction instead. 2/10
Forge: This is tied way too heavily into the plot of MM7 to make sense. You don't even fight robot mooks in MM8. Plus, town this is still controversial to this day, and I don't think this game needs controversy. I heard a neat suggestion for making it Egyptian-themed since the Tomb of VARN is Egyptian-themed in MM6, but at that point it's not even Forge. 1/10
I would put "something totally unprecedented" at 4/10, although the Secret Faction does already kinda fulfil that.

There is one thing in the lore from MM8 that could be used as precedent for an underwater-themed faction: "the once mighty, ocean to ocean, Triton empire" mentioned in the Trident of Rulership's description.

Sanctuary isn't just an underwater faction, it's also a Japanese faction.
Granted, again, license to change. But it wouldn't really be the same thing if they cut that part out.

Yeah. I said this on Reddit, but neutrals haven't had individual dwellings since Heroes IV. It's honestly really nice to see.

Not to mention that a large part of Might and Magic VIII was making a setting where the "always villain" factions are pretty reasonable. Seriously, someone was playing their first Monster PC campaign in DnD when they came up with that game. The playable races in VIII aside from humans are trolls, minotaurs, dragons, vampires, and dark elves. Both of the human factions are jackasses, especially the dragon hunters. If you wanna complain about morality being flipped upside down in Jadame, complain about NWC doing it first.
Not to keep feeding that obviously fake post made up to stir drama, but the more I think about it the dumber it becomes.

People caring about the nwc definition of balance in regards to a homm game after all these years strikes me as equally incomprehensible and impressive! No, actually more impressive than anything.

Not sure if this is about the lore or a play on the word "balance", as in gameplay balance
In regards to lore, it's hardly incomprehensible. NWC's universe can be quite engaging.

A bunch of Heroes got leaked. Someone in the playtests posted an image of every Skirmish hero except the Sylvan and secret faction ones (which I think aren't playable in the playtest yet). Not a fan of people doing that, but I figured I'd share it since the cat's out of the bag.
There's not too much exciting there and there's no lore blurbs, but we do get a look at all of their specialties and some skills.
