This is the worst April Fools joke ever
Seriously, a robot mod that moves threads from the mod squad? KD leaving? MM taking everything hostage?
...
Back in my day, there was one when RSF's profile was "hacked" by Dingo, and he demanded it back. Meanwhile, RSF kept giving QPs to Dingo non-stop. Shadowcaster helped with the whole thing. Now that was a joke. This is just lame. This is even worse than last year's.
There'd better be a good explanation from Val tomorrow.

Mavss, I am such a fan of your work that should you ever decide to end it once and for all in this world I will provide the rope.
Edit: This one took time, preparation, imagination, and a lot of phoney conflict on the part of the mods.
Best April Fool's. Ever.

Gootch, how can you say that? It's not remotely funny. How much are the mods/Val paying you to argue against everyone who says HC is deteriorating? How much do they pay you to say that HC is better now than it ever was before? It's not. The HC of today does not compare with the HC of 2003 and 2004. Not even close.

You know. You aren't even worth a fresh response
And I quote:
Quote: Pfft, every generation thinks they're the best. And every generation thinks the ones before them are snooty losers who've overstayed their welcome. And every generation thinks the ones who've come after them are a bunch of selfish Jerry's kids who've no idea what the word 'community' means.
I never much paid attention to cycles until I went to UIC's(University of Illinois at Chicago) theatre to drop off some stuff for my roommate. If there is a cross section of society whose idea of being an outcast and freaky hasn't changed since the days of Ginsburg and the rest of the Beat, it's these laughable losers. Drama majors....
Me? In cahoots with the mods? You have a higher opinion of the opinion they have of me than they do.

Yes. Every generation thinks it is the best. But, as HC continues, there are more and more old members. Most of them agree that the earlier periods of HC were better.
Yes, I am quite an old member compared to many. But many would agree that HC used to be better.

Why do you some of you complain about something different that might happen here?
Valeriy, and the mods put hard work into this, and you just call this "the worst"?
I for one congratulate Valeriy for his hard work that he put into this, and for giving me a lot of laughs.
And to the mods as well, because they helped pull it off.
But yeah, that's all I gotta say

I congratulate them as well. I just can't help noticing that when 2 mods and a spammer made an April Fools' joke by themselves, it was better.

It was better than previous years, especially with giving out -qps and thread moving by ADAM, which is what causes the most conflict in HC already, and conflict is what April Fools is all about

Quote: But many would agree that HC used to be better.
You're killing me with these prognostications of yours.
I saw this same trash in 2001 from Sha_Men/Subzero. Only difference is, he had a helluva lot more clout than you do.
You mention 2003-2004 as your reference for some kind of so-called golden age of HC. Let's take a look at your date of registration....
Surprise surprise. You registered in 2003.
Joining an internet message board is like being in a relationship.
If there's compatibility the first 6 months to a year is all about perfection.
Everything everyone contributes seems fresh, inviting, and exciting.
Good guys are good and bad guys are bad and get rightly punished.
You develop this relationship and think there's no other reason to go looking for any other.
The human condition, unfortunately, doesn't allow for this to continue. Passion dims, which leads to boredom. Boredom leads to discontentment. Discontentment leads to despondency.
You're despondent and projecting it all across the boards. Truth is, there is just as much interesting stuff that has happened in the last year, if not more, than what was going in '03-'04.
There has been an infusion of new blood into HC in the last year, year and a half, and even two years, that has made this place pretty damn fun. I'll put this new blood's quality up against anyone whom you can think of from your so-called golden era.
Yes, some peeps leave. That's just the way of things. Maybe they'll come back. Maybe they won't. You move on and cherish the memories you have.
So HC isn't dead Mvass. Your passion for it is dead; this passion that I'm willing to bet you mistook for love.
Remember. Internet message boards are like relationships. Normally, if you're like me, you'll have your fun with them and discard them after three months and move onto the next one.
Or you find the right one and find yourself believing you've found something you're compatible with. You find yourself content to linger around for a bit longer.
And before you know it, you've changed your name to Aculias.

He can't say that. HC didn't exist before 2001.
Quote: You mention 2003-2004 as your reference for some kind of so-called golden age of HC. Let's take a look at your date of registration....
No. You misunderstood. From my point of view, HC's golden age was 2003-2004. I think that an impartial panel of judges would number it thus, slightly differently.
1. 2002
2. 2004
3. 2001
4. 2005
5. 2006
6. 2007

You're right, of course. I picked 2003-2004 as HC's golden age for the reason you say. Not everyone will agree with my choice. However, many would say that regardless of their favorite age of HC, now is not it.
Quote: You're despondent and projecting it all across the boards. Truth is, there is just as much interesting stuff that has happened in the last year, if not more, than what was going in '03-'04.
There is no equivalent to Let's Have War. None at all. And, you will say that I am a stupid spammer, but I liked the Wastelands back then: fun word games, instead of being a brain-dead version of Tavern. Tavern's seen better days too. So has Other Side, where now you have people who don't want to debate. Instead of long debates full of wisdom, they either whine or call threads inappropriate.
Quote: There has been an infusion of new blood into HC in the last year, year and a half, and even two years, that has made this place pretty damn fun.
I won't deny that many of the new members are good. But they are not achieving their full potential. They don't know that HC could be better. And some of them, frankly, take away more than they add.
Quote: I'll put this new blood's quality up against anyone whom you can think of from your so-called golden era.
Has there been anyone to match Dingo? Woock? BountyHunter? Trogdor's better than any of the newer spammers (no offense). Everyone who posted in Tavern and Other Side.
Quote: Yes, some peeps leave. That's just the way of things. Maybe they'll come back. Maybe they won't. You move on and cherish the memories you have.
That's what I'm doing.
Quote: So HC isn't dead Mvass. Your passion for it is dead; this passion that I'm willing to bet you mistook for love.
Let's remember that by the time the Roman Empire collapsed, hardly anyone noticed. The people's quality of life declined as the Empire declined. Then it reached a low point, and stayed there for a long time. Then the successor nations arose, but none of them could claim to have such a contribution to culture as their predecessor. The same could well happen with HC. HC would decline and break apart, and the different parts would evolve seperately into ToH, Tavern Wastelands and Other Side, Library and Lands, and the H5 boards.
The trouble with HC is the same as with the late Roman Empire: it can't assimilate newcomers, who, therefore, can't contribute to culture as much because they haven't been exposed to it. Remember, most of the great Roman writers, poets, and philosophers were dead by the time the Empire collapsed.
Quote: Remember.
I may have not understood you correctly here. Are you saying that Acu is an example of someone who found themselves in a compatible relationship? If so, then why does he cause great disturbances within HC? But Acu is a good member, though often incoherent. No new Acus have been spotted within your fabled "new blood" though. They don't accept strategic critisism, they don't debate, and they don't make as fun topics in Tavern as there should be. They can't even spam properly. No. HC has seen better days. Surely you will agree.
