As Rikku makes ((err…)) his way to the remaining archway, one of the stones beneath his feet depresses and a shower of energy orbs rains down from above.
((Roll = 1)) ((Roll = 6 damage))
One bursts squarely between his shoulder blades, electric sparks stinging exposed skin; the rest bounce away harmlessly and burst a short distance away.

"Cure? What is that? I do apologize thou, it does not seem like we got a 'heal' staff or the like, not if I am sure anyone here could use them." Mark shrugged and took a look over the group "Actually we got a few who seems like they could use staff, but none of them are priests or clerics of Elimine and don't look like they can use healing staffs..." Mark sighed at the sight of his companions and really felt homesick for a few moments before he added in a commanding tone "..And be careful about using the vulneraries, we don't have enough of them to waste on papercuts...yet..." Mark sighed once again, remembering the crates in Merlinus trading caravan which were literarily drowing in vulneraries and elexirs.

((I'm assuming we haven't made it across the floor yet, since we haven't been told anything about the floor, by the one who has made it))
"Paper cuts?! You call this a paper cut," Rikku asked Mark, clearly not in the best of conditions, or moods.
Rkku frowns, looking on. To not make the same mistake, the light-things are watched, and they seem to be hitting the floor in different areas, avoiding others.
"Well, I guess that paper cut can be put off for a little while. Here goes..."
Rikku starts jumping towards the 'safe' spots, trying to make it across the entire floor, and to the arch.

Rikku manages to cross the courtyard without incident this time, followed by Jack ((and anyone else who wants to cross, just to simplify things  )). Two of the arches have collapsed into rubble, but the third remains active and intact for the time being. Jack immediately starts poking around in her usual manner.

Rikku enters the archway and it crumbles behind him; he experiences a bright flash and a rushing sensation and then he finds himself a few feet in the air ((not far enough up to take damage )). Not for long; even this place seems to have gravity and he lands rather suddenly on a mushroom-covered lump. The whole floor here is covered with the things, and occasionally some of the growths rustle ominously. Two passages lead out; he can faintly hear the rest of the group through the left passage. The lump he landed on, on closer inspection, turns out to be a damp wooden chest.

Rikku yells down the left passage, trying to get the attention of the others. Turning back, Rikku attempts to open the chest, to check out its contents.

Rikku pries open the chest, brushing away mushrooms and scraping away rust to get into the rotting container. He has just enough time to glimpse gold coins and other minor treasures before something attacks him from behind.
??? attacks Rikku and hits for 4 damage!
A trio of the native denizens have used Rikku’s preoccupation to sneak up on him—they look like mushrooms, except they have eyes set in their caps and mouths set vertically in their stems.
((I’ve also tweaked the combat mechanics so it should be easier to hit things now.  ))

Rikku quickly twists around, and sees the things that attacked. Due to the pain that has accumulated, Rikku nearly falls backwards, over the chest, but regains balance.
"Funguar? Great... Well, it would be nice if I could have a Cure, but it didn't sound like anyone could use such magic. Guess we'll have to take these out, and I can make a potion."
Rikku joins Mark, attacking the same mushroom he is, swinging the staff diagonally downward, at it's top.

The grayish mushroom-thing the adventurers attack looks to be severely damaged.

Not wasting a moment, Mark lashed out once more against the musrhoom this time coming with a vertical slash from 4 O'clock.
"One down!" he thought as he delivered the finnishing blow
((taking my victory up front, but hey! I am allowed to hope it works, right? ))
