Well I can vouch there's at least one adult poster in this topic who easily has enough fiery self-certainty to fuel over a hundred hormonal, glandular, ragingly-haughty adolescents. I doubt it's necessarily a matter of age.

@Ohforfsake a soul's definition (as everyone knows) is the presence of a spirit in a human body, that lives on after the body's death.
Such a thing doesn't exist, and I won't be giving my justification because I'm indifferent to whether you believe in it, and don't intend to change your views, that's often impossible anyways..
@Cepheus: ...is that your definition of a discussion? It is natural for people to have different opinions/beliefs, you want me to apologise for sharing mine, and contradicting the rarely-questioned doubtful and unconfirmed stories religion teaches?
Quote: Well I can vouch there's at least one adult poster in this topic who easily has enough fiery self-certainty to fuel over a hundred hormonal, glandular, ragingly-haughty adolescents.
I do not appreciate this highly inaccurate allusion. If this used to be the case with you at adolescence, please keep it personal, and don't blindly associate this general trend of human development with everyone.
I am very different from most individuals my age, and dislike most of them exactly for that hormonal imbalance, lack of morals, and offensiveness/lack of respect. I am however not in that category just for your information. Thank you.

First of all, I didn't mention or address you - well, your age bracket I guess - not to mention I happen to be atheistic myself and have broadly the same opinion as you do, albeit a bit less... boisterously.
I don't know whether it's prime material for discussion, but I would absolutely consider ruminations on aging superior to a blanket refusal to elaborate on your stance due to some nebulous indifference.
In other words, I would rather read the thoughts of a calm theist in an adverse position to mine, like maybe Markkur - willing to share rationales, or at least mutual respect - than a rowdy fellow atheist antagonistically spitting vitriolic "maxims" at the religious "opposition". But I think Corribus already tackled this matter much more eloquently in his now-deleted essay from a while back, and that apparently didn't work. And again, disclaimer: I'm not necessarily referring to you.
As a side note, I was noticeably different from others when I was 16 too. I was a blue chicken who despised Ashan, unsuccessfully ran for moderator and wasn't even fully sure whether Frank Sinatra was alive or dead. Good times.

Reading back on the masterpost all I can say is that the road to hell is paved with good intentions You know the whole example reminds me of a quest in neverwinter nights.
There are two brothers, one of them an ambitious wizard. A demon called Belial tells him that for him to become a higher form of lich, one that is even respected by elves he must prepare a ritual that would require the death of x children. After the ritual is complete he would be what he wanted and the children would return to life, no harm no foul. So the wizard tells his brother that he is starting a party so he should call the town's children. The other brother suspected something was wrong since the wizard wasn't a particularly jovial character but wants to please his brother and does so. Fast forward, the wizard becomes a lich but it is revealed that the children cannot return to life. One lied to make this happen, the other believed him, the third allowed this to happen when he should have seen through it.
Whose fault is it? Gotta love moral dilemmas.

Um... did his brother arrange a party consisting of children for him!!??? That doesn't sound odd at all...?
On the more moral dilemma.
The demon was smart, assuming he got what he wanted.
The wizard is a murderer, and a lich.
And the brother is stupid, and possibly bi-sexual.
Edit: So if you want fault(?) then it's the wizard. Except if all the children decided to kill themselves willingly, in which case it's mass suicide and no one is at fault. Maybe except you for posting a tl;dr thread in the osm just before.

Actually, I find it dreadfully boring. There might be some entertainment to be gleaned from watching two people of limited education make fools of themselves in front of the world, but really is there anything here that we haven't seen before?

I wish only to highlight this. Nothing else to add, really. As you pointed out, I said as much in a long post a while back which was praised, penalized and ultimately deleted - all by the same person. Clearly it fell on deaf ears, so perhaps it's fitting that that post no longer exists.

If you find this so boring, no one is forcing you to be in this thread. Besides, I do not wish to go against Elodin, why make it personal? I am only going against religion.
And my education shouldn't be a concern to you, neither is it a factor for a right of speech.
Make fool of myself? I don't think sharing my opinion, with very logical foundations, is making a fool of myself. The WORLD? Wow, maybe HC, or OSM to be specific, is the "world" to you, but for me, it is a place for discussion, and I am using it according to its purpose. Whereas you, come along not to discuss, but to bash my statements and my person in general, what do you think of yourself?
If it's all boring for you, why don't you contribute with some extraordinary wisdom the world hasn't seen before? I am only discussing, as everyone else in this thread, and I get criticised for that by you. To my knowledge no one has yet told me to leave this thread and stop discussing.
We can be polite you know?
Quote: Extreme theist vs. extreme atheist?

Please, again, stop making this a personal argument between me and Elodin.
I am only frustrated by the fact that, in spite of all the sheer FILTH the nonsense of religion and religion itself has done, and the amount of conflicts/wars/deaths it caused, it is considered somewhat invincible from any criticism or contradiction, dictatorship of some pathetic sort.
Well I tell you this, I don't intend to stop flaming religion and the church, even with all the bashing I get from many (and surprisingly no support), because it deserves to be flamed and challanged.

As always, you have nothing rational to offer to the discussion. Just more personal insults. Oh, I am not really of limited education so that makes you a purveyor of falsehoods.
I've posted the actual Bible quotes that prove anti-theist statements about the Bible/Christianity to be false. You've posted nothing but false statements and slander. Sad, really, for someone who seems to hold himself to be so much better than everyone else. "I is superior to yousss cause I has more credemialtials than youzz dozzz." Haaa! Pure bunk.
So far no one has been able to dispute what I have posted and the anti-theists who made claims about things being facts has been unable to back up a single thing they have said. Atheist evangelism 101.
If I'm a fool like you claim (in violation of the Code of Conduct) then it should be quite easy for you to prove me wrong.

Really, you intend to crumble my whole argumentation with this little extract? This was just one statement that I wasn't even concentrating on. Fine, have this justification - because science has not found such a "thing" and disagrees with it's presence. MOREOVER, I do not consider there to even be any need to disprove something never proven, and give argumentation against some bull completely made up with no evidence.
I may as well devise some paranormal activity right now, and call myself a winner of the argument because you cannot prove me wrong...logical(?).

hahahahaa, amazing, they prove me wrong? And what proves your little bible quotes that have been written by random humans? If I gave you an avalanche of Lord of the Rings quotes, it would be just as big of an argument as yours.

The method of science is based upon measurements. How would you measure this spirit, or soul? As such, our current scientific knowledge, as I see it, is not suited for talking about such a subject.
Quote: MOREOVER, I do not consider there to even be any need to disprove something never proven, and give argumentation against some bull completely made up with no evidence.
I agree. But do you realise you do it yourself?
Also, what do you mean by declaring yourself winner?

Happy that you agree And sorry, I don't. And even if you think I do, no one forces you to believe me.
I meant "declare yourself the winner of the argument, because I have no argumentation against unproven theories, because it's IMPOSSIBLE, apart from a simple one, them being unproven" figure of speech.

Yes you do! You've so far taken the approach that it's wrong until proven otherwise. That is the same fault as assuming it's right until proven otherwise. Not that they're eachothers opposites, but you assume knowledge, upon an event of which you have, none.
OK I think you failed to see this:
Quote: And even if you think I do, no one forces you to believe me.
Let's put it this way, I am 100% certain that what I believe is true, just like theists are 100% sure of their beliefs. There, I admitted it (though never denied it to start with).
From the beginning I have stated that I am only sharing my opinions.
The thing that makes me different from theists is I don't state anything that hasn't been proven (one exception, I'll explain later), and yes, I do state religion, that has never been proven, is false.
Now you'll say I'm a hypocrite, because "no one has proven there is no afterlife", well, believe what you want, but for me, given I know how my body/mind/brain functions, the fact my neurones rot after deatrh is enough proof. And only desperate fear of death will make you deny that.

No. I read it all. I merely ignored parts I found irrelevant. Such as personal comments, which have nothing to do with what they're a response to. Like: "no one forces you", "good for you", etc.
Quote: Let's put it this way, I am 100% certain that what I believe is true
In that case, any reference to science from you would be out of place.
Quote: The thing that makes me different from theists is I don't state anything that hasn't been proven
No. You state things which hasn't been proven all the time. Saying something is false, without evidence, is the same. It's stupid and lame.

I did mention there is one exception in my statements, namely afterlife, however even this is IMHO proven false by the fact our brain decays.

So they just appear magically? So far, I believe there hasn't been any evidence to support that matter can be created, nor destroyed.
Are you serious? They appear from stem cells during their specialisation at the "8 cell stage" of human embryo development.
How is this an argument anyway?
Oh I see where this is getting at. But matter is MODIFIED. And recreation of your mind after death is impossible because your neurones are decaying (broken down) and that matter is TRANSFORMED into other materials.
In the crazy and impossible scenario of recreating your neurones from the soil you are buried in, they would be empty of information anyways, hence not your concience anymore anyway.
