Where ya been?  That theory has been on the table since the whole thing started.

Not that I've seen, the Anglo-Americans were very adamant that he had WMD's and still had them in his country. Now it's changed to "had the means and motive" or "moved them to Syria". Watering down is what I call it. Until quite recently and certainly until the invasion, the allies were quite adamant that they still existed in Iraq.

Quote:
Personally, I never considered Pakistan as an ally.

You'll find that Bush disagrees with you considerably. Frankly though I wouldn't be half suprised if he had at least some support from sections of the government.

Quote:
That’s why there are people enjoying their new freedom and democracy in Iraq, right? There is a minority of insurgents, who have tried to send a letter to Al Quaida asking for help. The letter was confiscated today.

Freedom yes, democracy... wait and see. I'd add though that some terrorist cells the US have recently discovered there were formed after the invasion, not before, showing that terrorism doesn't simply go away when you invade somewhere. Does it help to fight terror with war? The jury on that one is still out as to if Israel/US attitudes to fighting terror is any better than the attitudes the French use in their colonies, or the British used in Ireland. Neither justifies his attitude about the US being the sole country capable of fighting terror.

As I said, a general comment, not specific to either Iraq or Afghanistan is that there are dozens of forms of fighting terrorism, and to insinuate that because the allies are using the most obvious, that they are the only capable ones is blinkered.

Quote:
Intense arrogance of the USA? There are many other countries who have a perceived arrogance, like Britain, France especially France, Germany, mostly Western Europe on the whole. I didn’t say they were arrogant, but that’s sure how it seems. That was a “you’re doing it too” thingy that you said you don’t like.

I'm really getting sick of strawman arguments here...

My intention was neither to accuse the US of being arrogant, nor to say it was the sole example. My intention was to show that people like him are the reason people get that impression. If the impression people get about the US policy is basically "we're bigger than you, shove off" and the impression they get is that the population has that opinion, then that causes some distrust and dislike of Americans.

I would have thought that if you'd paid attention to my remark about "percieved wrongly to be the main section" you'd have worked that out for yourself rather than using another strawman case.

Quote:
The war on terror started long before the “War on Terror” started, one could say it started in the late 1700’s or early 1800’s. At that time the US attacked Tripoli and the other Barbary States, that I guess would be the first major battle in the ongoing war on terror. Countries have been doing things to fight terror to it’s citizens for hundreds of years.

I don't need a pedantic and an almost totally unlinked history lesson thank you.

"That’s why there are people enjoying their new freedom and democracy in Iraq, right?"
LOL! You can be sure they are not enjoying anything similar to that. Iraq’s now under foreign occupation, there are no elections and every day there are explosions and incidents. The security is zero and people are afraid.

You keep mentioning the War on Terror in context of the attack on Iraq. I should remind you that Sadam Hussein was a secular dictator, but nonetheless a dictator. However, he has never openly supported Al Kaeda or any extremist islamic terrorist organizations. Such evidence doesn’t exist. Nor did he fund terrorism. However he was a militant dictator, with a brute and harsh rule over the Iraqi people. But still, you can’t cause democratic reforms by waging war. A true change can only come from within. Imposing American (or Western) way of life on cultures that aren’t that receptive or simply not ready for it, will prove fruitless and costly, as it already has in Iraq.
