Lotus Inside Us

Inside me was Pocus the insatiable gnat
He'd bite and he'd claw from under my hat
Under my skin into my chest
He'd find a quiet spot to rest
Long overdue for his favorite treat
A black and purple flower he wanted to eat
The flower unknown to the host he had taken
As he sat there for breakfast eating his bacon
So he took a trip north to the brain of the man
He looked up Black Lotus locations on hand
Nigh did he know where the flower did bloom
Nor had he been to the island of Loom
But Pocus was focused as gnats tend to be
He searched on the internet and then out to sea
Together they sailed both he and his host
All the dreams they had about lying on the coast
They dreamt of the flowers that grew in the sand
Just off the shore barely on dry land
They sailed and they sailed and finally came
To the island of Loom or so it was named
Off of the ship and onto the raft
They paddled and paddled with one wooden shaft
The air became drizzle
The spray of the fizzle
All of the waves crashing the beach
Not a person in sight nor sound of a screech
Barefooted paces through the soft sand and water
Black and purple plants growing near the straight of gibraltar

They ate and they ate
It was morning, noon, then late
Attacked by the hunger for sleepiness cake

At last the two laid
on the beach with no maids
The two of them dreamt of beautiful days

No people or buildings or even a bus
The two of them ate, both Pocus and Gus
There are nothing but dreams and moist little crusts
Of Lotus cakes and Lotus pies inside of us

Unregulated Lust

Two lives before
Three lives after
Two lives to express
Both in laughter
Both to cajole
Both for rapture

After the fact
Youthful alabaster
The lackadaisical factor

A moment of lust
A lifetime to give
Moreover the pair
And nowhere to live

Lost in the zoo
Kids prancing with glee
Two lives to live
And now there were three

Wow. Don't know how I missed this thread, but there is some great poetry in here. Here's one of mine, I apologize that it isn't 300 lines long.

You overacheivers.

I'm struggling to hold my own,
I know I must be strong.
But though I reap what I have sown,
I won't be sowing long.

I'm hanging in, I'm pressing on,
I'm fighting to advance.
I'll run the race until I'm gone,
There is no second chance.

So on I run, I cannot cease,
There is so much I lack.
But such is life, I've found my peace,
and I'm not turning back.

The Wall

I rubbed my eyes and checked it twice
I was sure I hit something because my hair was spliced
Inside my head I must've stalled
Along the sides I must've crawled
Under the cranny and through the nook
I tried to push forward but narry a shook
I bumped and I stumped
And even I jumped
The last I tried with tears in my eyes
Let me go free to fly in the skies

But
it
did
not
budge

But confused I still tried to get through as it vexed
I pushed and pushed until noticing text
Knock three times politely you see
I stood there and felt as dumb as can be
Knocking I did and open it was
The door to my life I started to buzz
I finally saw what I did wrong that day
I leaped without looking in a very painful way

More to come...

Original thread (with my comments ): Respect towards J.R.R.Tolkien

Night of the Hobbit

Sitting by the window,
Looking at the sky,
Stars become your friends now,
Flying here tonight.

As you fly together,
You become their friend.
They now know what your name is:
There and back again.

In gloomy spot you're sitting
You see your mirrored face -
A hobbit's looking at you
From shaded, moonlit place.

As shadow's crawling nearer
Your blue eyes start to blink,
The scarred face doesn't notice
"who am I" it just thinks.

Your brain now seems so restless
Without a long night sleep,
So it just close these deep eyes
And watch the running sheep.

In dreams, you see a tall elf
Who's walking with a dwarf,
Plus wields it golden crossbow
Which hides an elven scarf.

They walk through hidden dangers
And sparkling tunnels too,
To see the sacred forest
And fight the Shadow Doom

But when you reach this forest,
You wake up from this dream.
It looks so real and strange now
But not as it could seem...

AND NEW ONE:

Lands of holy Pellenor

When lands of holy Pellenor,
Are covered with the blood
I see only sadness
Below, on the mud.

It says how much humans,
And orcs have died here
And legions of ghosts,
Bring death with big fear.

Few heroes only
Are able to fight
And be so courageous,
Without any fright.

When gloomy night comes here,
And shackles of pain,
All go and touch humans,
With things that are vain -

With swords, axes and spears,
And longbows of elves,
They fight with their bravery
And the bravery of theirselves.

The war between races,
And dark within wind.
And light that's not vanished,
Enlightens within...

Maybe these are not the best (I'm not American, do not look at the grammar! ), but they came in mind now.

Some stuff by me

Atlantes (A translation of a Russian poem/song)

When your heart is not light
And your chest is cold
Come to Hermitage at night
And watch the stars unfold
Where lacking food  supply
Forgotten and alone
Atlantes hold the sky
On their hands of stone

To carry such a content
Is not a painless fate
Their backs are arched with torment
Their knees are strongly bent
Their troublesome work
Is most important of all works
Let just one of them tire
And the entire sky falls

Widows will weep in the dark
All the fields will burn
A mushroom cloud will spark
The end of earth will turn
And every year the heavens
Press yet harder still
They shake under the pressure
Of rocket ships’ loud shrill

The lads stand at rest
Their bodies hot as flame
So long ago they were placed
And no replacements came
They do not sleep at night
Not cheered by light of day
Their beauty pure and white
Will crumble at war’s way

They stand there for the ages
Their foreheads pressing rock
Not gods – they're mere mortals
But used to ruthless work
Yet hope to live and try
Is never overthrown
When atlantes hold the sky
On their hands of stone

In Each Note A Memory(Blank verse)

A tight metal string pressed against the frets
by old fingers that feel pain no longer.
A simple minor open chord he held,
The same he played on that long day
When he first saw her eyes and heard her laugh.

He sang the first few notes and fell silent.
With each vibration of the strings he saw
Another feature of her face appear;
The rythm of her heartbeat in the base,
And in each strum - the contour of her lips.

For long the last note hung in the thin air -
He could not let that face escape from him
As it did years before, when the sun set.
And yet the song's end then had to arrive,
And he sealed his lips as though on her own.

Trapped Notes(A sonnet)

My quiet song is sung in a cold room.
The notes are born in the hard wooden shell,
And then they escape to a certain doom
And scatter, flooding the lonesome cell.
They bounce and refract from these walls of stone
And though they warm my heart with their fair sound,
My ears hear each one's soft and confined moan,
And I then know that they feel trapped and bound.
From wood this song was born, from nature's womb -
It wants to leave me here and fly away.
And in its swift flight see spring flowers bloom,
And by some lake or stream forever stay.
I love my notes and choose to come along;
In the woods content I am, with my song.

And some Haiku:

A flutist plays notes
Under soft and warm spring rain.
   My heart feels each drop.

And a limerick (remove if too vulgar):

There was a Drummer from South-Bay
Who taught herself how to play
she had little luck
'Cause she happened to suck
But that's why she was a good lay

Wolfman,

When speaking of poetry there is no king, only an endless sea of contributors. It may seem like I am the most contributional here but that's ok because everyone contemplates and contributes at their own speed. It isn't the amount of contribution that matters but the degree of its effectiveness.

How do you want to affect the world?
On whom will you have the greatest impact?
Will the impact be progressive or regressive?

Everyone has so much to offer. Don't think, for even a single moment, that your uniqueness is any less than that of anyone else. You are special in the only way that you know how. By being you it may very well help the rest of us in this world to learn how to react to certain situations and circumstances in a different light.

I read your post and I see a jumble of crowded ideas and thoughts. Now that you have spilled yourself on to the page, take each thought or idea and expand upon it in an unlimited fashion. Write unabated with freedom and dance with your words. That's how you'll learn to create your identity. That's how we, as readers, will learn something from you and about you.

Take it slowly, one idea, one thought, and one heart at a time. Only you can offer us you in the only way you know how. Don't worry about it, just do it.

The Queen To Be

http://aa.1asphost.com/Dubbioso/Joanna.JPG
How in the world does a woman lead men
To monumental goals of now and then
Normally a king or lord
Of might and regalia and courage-forged sword

Once in every thousand years
A woman is born with strength of tears
Strength forboding in youthful years

In to the world she steps and falls
Down the only path her fate allows
Along the road many men she'll meet
Along the road even more she'll greet
A quest for her though not of the hand
But historic goals and recorded lands
Every look and stance and glance
Brought men thither and made them dance
Not for weddings or birthday celebrations
But for regal administration
By herself she'll accomplish this task
The natural leader upon her mask
So true they follow for not but hollow
Death and sacrifice and mud to wallow
The heart of a man is not easily swayed
His sword and judgment not easily made
But for this he will commit his service
To be but inches from his mistress
Tis a presence she carries about herself
Devotion from men and gods themselves
All who knew her remember her well
In memory's books they sat to dwell
The woman who would be thy king
More or less when called the Queen
Strength and tears and mother's years
Of all her men who camped with gear
The lot, a children, to her mind
All their fates are intertwined
By her command alone
They'd march to battle and unknown
But certain were the men she led
The promise of a tear she shed
When all was over peace would reign
In all the sky and sea and plains
Noble was the warrior woman
The strength she held with warrior linens
So as I said of history
You may see the Queen to be

'Till the Silence Ends

'Till the Silence Ends

A tumble of words still trapped in my lips
Now rushes forth
through my fingertips

It sometimes seeps from beneath my eyes
And the lumps in my throat,
they muffle my cries

The faith I keep is that it must be so
There was no other way,
that you had to go.

But you were the truest of all friends to me
You opened your soul
so that I could see

And then before us a great feast was spread
Upon a fine table
to which we were led

Such delicious morsels of laughter and caring
Then a goblet of tears
we drank with this sharing

Peering together into past lives
Chuckling and weeping
at great flights and dives

Seeing the world through shared eyes
Telling the truths,
confessing the lies

To an etude of sweetness, playing softly nearby
we danced with such fineness, a lilt,
then a sigh

I raised my hand gently, touched the warmth of your face
It was only the pain
I sought to erase.

I should have known, that night, long and slow
You looked up, your eyes glistened,
and you had to go

It was the last time we spoke, that night,
Yet your glistening eyes
have not left my sight.

But where is the Oak on which I leaned
The friend I had,
the strength I gleaned?

I must tell you I still do not believe it
When someone loves,
one can simply receive it

Nothing is greater, or simpler, more dear in the end
Than the great, simple truth
of a most precious friend.

It was a great gift, I still believe
A treasure
I was so glad to receive

For only rarely do truest friends meet
Of all concerns,
this is the most sweet.

Have I become so selfish? I fear --
A mere vessel
testing your honour, my dear.

But the outcome shall be only as we decide
Within me I cannot find it,
to run and to hide

The wonder of friendship is all that need be
Only when we all see this
shall we really be free…

And one more thing dare you read I must say
This infernal silence
does not make it go away.

Now sadness and anger have become my friends
They’ll accompany me

‘till the silence ends.

This may not be the best poetry. It is called "blank verse", I s'pose, 'coz it has a meaning, but it is not rhymed superbly.

Looking Inside

Something's glowing deep in my chest,
The way that thing threatens my life
And I can't find a cure that is surely the best.
From such pain that's like thrust of a knife.

It's name is so hideous,
I can't find a way for it to reveal
While the flame is taking my life away,
In the shades where it is always consealed.

Like a fiery dagger it burns,
Keeping my joy and the happiness away,
But not easing the pain inside,
Still giving a hope that will end someday.

With a chance of my mind exploding,
I close my eyes and look deeply inside
To desperately search for its name,
And defend from the pain in my mind...

Well this may not be such a good poem, but it's something that I can create. However, I advise you not to look at the grammar mistakes.

Scribing in the shadows...

I remain silent all the time,
Considering what's the best in my life.

Scribing and rhyming up high,
In the shadows I own and I like.

Please, don't tell me what to do,
Cause it won't ease the sorrow,

I have forever and ever tried to
Reduce, get him out from my chest's hollow.

It may be so hard to explain,
When you're sitting so cozy up there,

While I'm feeling the pain
And I'm going on the way to nowhere...

These poems may not be interesting or so easy to understand, but they surely have something to think about, because they may ressemble a puzzle in your life whose answer is nowhere to be found.

I suffered things like these. When there is a situation that leads nowhere, eg.: I'm angry on my parents, so I start scribbing letters that is similar to writing a diary. But this way leads nowhere, cause I won't continue scribbing letters like a diary and won't be angry forever.

I also felt a pain like I described. I wanted to find the answer for so many things, whose answer is not found so easily and causes a pain in my mind that I cannot reduce or cure.

My words may be hard to understand (my grammar and spelling's not good) and you have to sit, relax and think, try to search for an answer inside your mind...

At Last I Dreamt For Beauty's Sake

http://images.epilogue.net/users/layanna/mysterious_forest_epilogue.jpg
I'm lost I'm lost in holocaust
I took my soul and paid the cost

For one small glimpse of a peach's sin
Of beauty's tale
The beast within
The slighted veil

What's in my eyes
I've found the prize
Which all men want
My soul's famished gaunt
Laugh and play
With nary a say
From the gawking brute
Your puppet aloof
Mezmorized is not the word
It would suggest her a playful bird
Not to her knowing
Your presence not showing
She simply was
As beauty does
Goodbye cruel world
It all unfurled
As she left me there
The wind in my hair
I fell asleep no reason to wake
At last I dreamt for beauty's sake

Foolish mortals ever yet
The dead live on and fools forget
Steal yourself, behold, and fret
Live unlife in eternal debt

Omniscent power is pale and bold
The unseen factor dawns hero's gold

Ride to glory, straight and true
Beware the presence of the hiding grue
Tomorrow comes not! Invision the lustrous hue
Footprint left adieu, adieu......

A poem?? Sure thing.

God I love writing poems.....anything that expresses how angry I am.....or sad.....never happy. I'll shut up, sorry.

Loosing Control

I don’t know what happened here today
My mind grows dim, my thoughts astray
Are they coming for me already?
Can’t seem to hold myself up steady
Can’t hear myself, can’t feel my soul
Demons and angels are taking control
Throwing me off my feet
Fighting a force I can’t beat
Can’t control
Can’t understand
Can’t hold on
Nothing I planned
Can’t hide from this demand
Being haunted
By my own dreams
Beaten and taunted
As though it seems
There’s no one to blame
Of what I became
All the times I left behind
Took control of body, soul, and mind
What now lingers inside?
Run out of places to hide
Hiding the pain
Falling like rain
Loosing control
What I’ve been told
Isn’t all silver and gold
What to do now
When my hope is gone
What to do now
Nowhere to hold on
Hiding in a shaded place
Trying to cover my face
I’m on my knees
Time seems to freeze
I sit here, feeling the tears sting
I’ve lost my everything

I'm sorry it's so long....it's actually a song I wrote for my band, but I made it into a poem.

basically this poem has no thought behind it,
but like here in life you always doesnt fit.
So wether you belive it or not,
this poem might just be right on spot.
Because as it happens it might just be about life,
If youre trying to fit so much that you could just aswell use a knife.

as ive written one i could just aswell write two,
because who knows..this can be my way of turning pro
but as the sequal usually is of worser quality,
this poem will be no change of reality.
Since this one seems to even less thought through,
it isnt that easy to come up with something new.
But sometimes things stays the same,
like now would be a good time to insert a bad joke about how your stuck to your name.
Now this is starting to become fun no more,
so i might just aswell close my internet door.
Lay down in my bed and turn off the light,
that way this poem can be my way of saying good night.
