how to play in GameSpy?

I downloaded ArcadeInstallFull204-google.exe
and everything was ok until the game (h3 sod) started in GameSpy Arcade 2.0.4. When I try to connect to some host(a friend) message appear try again later. Does anybody know what's wrong here?
Is it because my IP is changing all the time, and I must have the same IP always?
I have an ADSL 512kbps connection.
How to play H3 online??!!!

Your connection speed has nothing to do with that. ANd no, u don't need a static IP to be able to play on Gamespy.
What i need from you to be able to help ya, are the EXACT words of the error message u get, and when it does appear...

when i connect to host, then it's loading for 20 sec, and at the end, a message pops up "Sorry, there was an error connecting to that session. Please try again"?

I cant play through gamespy Homm3 (ver 4.0), i dont know why. When i try to join, after launching game screen "freezes" with the background image. And stays like this.
Once we tryined with angelito..but we couldnt get this working. :/
Im Using Sp1, so this port changing thing wont work either, because i just dont have place where to edit this.
Through hamachi everything works perfectly.

with sp 1 there is one place where you just enable or disable firewall. so i disabled it. It has no other options.

If u disabled your firewall completely, and it still didn't work, it's not the firewall causing the connection problem, but your router! (or some other kind of firewall, like zone alarm or similar)
Read my first post in this thread about router settings and port forwarding.
And even with XP Sp1 u can put programs in an "exception list", this feature is just more hidden..
Will explain it this evening when I come back, coz I have to run now...

H3, Error connecting :(

I bought H3 years ago, I was just about to try it online with a friend of mine the other day and it gave me the "Sorry, there was an error connecting...." notice, the only explanation I've seen is Router/Firewalls...

Me and my friend have Disabled XP's firewall and I got my Router on DMZ mode (all ports open D: ) and my friend doesn't even have a router.

Yet it refuses to work when we try TCP/IP

We both got Heroes3 Complete.

Can't say if u r able to connect wallace. Maybe u can add Heroes to the exceptionlist of those firewalls? Or forward some ports in TCP/IP filtering?
Easiest way would be to come to Gamespy Arcade and we test some things...

Or maybe you can try with hamachi - its a program that creates VPN - and you and the other person are like in one local network. I am not sure wich ports use the program though

The thing u r doing wrong (the d-link router guy) is, you are in the WRONG menu. Go into "Virtuell server" and add the port 6073 "both" there.
Look it up here.
The Dell router can be looked up here.
And u shouldn't use the trigger ports for a range. 6073 is an OWN trigger port (start and end), so is 6667. For Heroes3, only 6073 is needed, because 6667 is used by Zone and Gamespy. If u play through IP, only forward 6073 "both".

I managed to fix my problems, sorry for arsing, it truly was the router.

I simply unplugged it and ran straight trough the modem and it worked great with hamachi, server appeared directly.

WoG is also played on Gamespy server. Not too many people for WoG though, but just keep asking in the lobby.
