Guilds
I think that it would be a good idea for HC to have a guild system. A guild would be a mini-organization inside the community that has something in common. For example, there could be a guild of historians, guild of tactics, guild of pixelart etc. Each guild would have a guild thread in which discussions about their topic of interest and future plans for the guild can be talked over.
Each official guild would be registered at this thread and must be approved by a mod. Then, a 40x40 pixel emblem is to be created and included in the signiture of each member (should this idea be accepted and put into practice, the Guild of Pixelartists is willing to make emblems for the other guilds.) Each guild would also have a leader, who can be either the starter of the guild or an elected representitive.
Each guild can decide on their own set of rules and regulations. A good idea to have is a ranking system where guild members must advance in levels by making good posts about their guild's topic of interest or by displaying great skills of knowledge on the topic.
In order to make guilds a serious business, it may be a good idea not to allow a member to join more than 3 or 5. However, this is up to the guilds, meaning that a guild could say "a member of our guild must not be a member of more than 5 guilds".
So that's pretty much it. Hope it's clear and simple. So how about it? Shall we try?

I think it's an interesting idea - I would say my main concern is that the board already tends to be a bit clique'y , this could further that,

Tosser and spammer guilds are out of the question. The spammers already have the wastelands, while the tossers will agree that they don't need such nonsense.
A guild of roleplayers would be okay I guess, but it'd be more about RL RPing instead of the kind of thing we've got in the Glade.

Possible Yet....
This is an idea that will need more Heroes Community participation. At current, I see too little. Upon the release of Heroes V we might see a good increase of members. However, a guild at the moment would probably consist of no larger than 3 or 4 people. There simply isn't enough participation. HC finds itself in a sort of limbo until the release of HeroesV. I shall simply wait until that time to reconsider this topic.

But I have an idea for a few more guilds.
A guild for your favorite HOMM game, whether it's 1 2 3 or 4.

Good idea. Either the full name, or just a symbol like (PA) for Pixel Artist. That way you could fit more guilds in there, and maybe even your own custum status.

I'm wondering what you mean by 'mod approval required' with regards to certain guilds - i mean if the Guild isn't breaking the CoC is it really neccessary that we approve?
As a mod I can say I for one will support the idea, and help however you guys think I can - but I don't neccessarily think you need permission as such.
A spammer's guild however is a scary thing, I'd have to say if one does come about they would have to be chained down in the wastelands

I dont think a spammers guild is a good idea. Not that i have anything against spammers but to them its just another thread to spam. o point in having a guild dedicated to talking about spam when we have a whole forum for it.
