sirzapdos,

Outfoxed is an excellent film that anyone who cares about journalism and the effect of media on our society needs to see.  It exposes Fox's constant distortions of fact and its heavily pro-Republican bias.

A few of the people who worked on the movie have a blog, NewsHounds that they use to track Fox and report on its abuses.  Their motto is, "We watch Fox so you don't have to."  It's definitely worth looking into.

You guys are so funny.
I checked out that site, full of crap as expected.  Voter fraud isn't an issue?  Are you kidding me?  It's been an issue for the last 200 years, nothing is different now.
That site isn't objective at all, if you were suggesting it was.  It was hard to tell.
They say how great Alan Colmes is, but in my opinion watching him is like watching grass grow.  He's the least outspoken Democratic personality I've ever seen.
They say Hannity and Coulter are outrageous, Coulter is but Sean Hannity isn't.
They make fun of Bill O'Reilly's "Almost" Kerry Interview.  That was a pretty funny thing, in my opinion.  Kerry said on national TV that he wanted to grant O'Reilly an interview, but he never did.  Same thing happened to Bob Woodward, so O'Reilly had him on the show to talk about the campaign.  It was an entertaining interview.
Honestly, I can't see why everyone is so fanatical about O'Reilly, he's not extreme on the political spectrum at all.  He goes after anyone who is screwing around, so to speak.  If he's so far to the right, why did he go after Bush/Cheney?  O'Reilly is very good at what he does.  He's written some very good books.  "Who's Looking Out For You?" is a very good one, very little politics about it.  A must read in my opinion.

...and the sweating begins

Hey Laelth,

I know it is still very early, but...

Are you seeing red yet?

I am very excited about this election, regardless of the outcome.  I think I will be pulling an all-nighter just to see if the election is decided in the early hours of Wednesday morning.  Unfortunately, with Florida's lackadaisical handling of their absentee ballots, we may not know who the next President of the United States is until Thursday.

Great graphical respresentations of the political maps, BTW.  Almost as good as your Heroes maps!

Love, Peace, and Happiness!

~ K

EDIT: Spelling...of course it had to be Untied States.

I'm seeing a lot of red ...

... a lot more than I expected.  The American people get the government they deserve.  I did my part for democracy.

This is democracy, Laelth!  This is what it's all about.

Just for the record, all of my predictions are true as of right now.

Laelth,

It is far from over, but I think it is down to only Ohio now.

For what it is worth, IMHO, I believe there are four things that an American citizen can do in order to be defined as a true patriot:

1.  Exercise their right to vote.
2.  Exercise their right to assemble in support or in protest of their government's actions.
3.  Serve their country in the Armed Forces.
4.  Educate others about their government and their rights as citizens.

You definitely qualify as a true patriot in my book, my friend, and I hope you will join me in continuing to exercise our rights and patriotism for the next administration, whether it be in support or in protest.

Sincerely,

~ K

No, cos he didn't win.
He was seen as harmless by the more moderate right wingers, and so they tried to use him... And we all know how well that went.

Wolfman, for your prize, you will be receiving the following:

Four more years of death, destruction, desensitivity, and domination (both domestic and global).

What more could a good Republican want in life?  I know, I know, maybe a few more tax cuts.

Someone brought up a good point on CNN yesterday. They said that in light of his re-election, Iraq (and I suppose the entire war on terror) would be Bush's legacy. Our only hope then, is that Bush really f***s up somewhere, leaving the 2008 election for a Democrat, maybe Hillary?

Didn't Hillary secretly hope that Kerry lost, so that she could run for office in 2008?

Or is this just some far-fetched "conspiracy theory"?

Actually, I saw someone in this forum bring it up. I forget who, it might have been Consis or The Gootch. But yeah, Bush back in means Hillary can run in 2008.

Only to give some correct history datas....

In September 1930, the NSDAP reached 18,2% on the "Reichstag"-Election.

In 1932, Hitler became german (was born in Austria)

In March 1932 Hitler lost in second round of the election "Reichspräsident" against Hindenburg with only 36,7% of all votes.

In July 1932, the NSDAP was only second strongest party
and Hilter denied a membership to the government, coz he wanted to reign alone.

In 1933, Hindenburg nominated Hitler as "Reichs"-chancellor coz of pressure of some mighty bosses of the industries.

In the same year, Hitler banned first the KPD(communists) and then later the SPD (socialists)

....we all know what has followed then...

Khayman ...

Head.  I'f I had made predictions based upon heart I would have put my home state of GA in the blue column.  Georgia has always been a moderate state, but Georgia wasn't even close in this election.  Georgia voted for Clinton in 1992.  Georgia had a Democratic congress for a long time.  Our Senate went Republican for the first time in over 100 years in 2002.  Our House went Republican for the first time in over 100 years 2 days ago.  I am, quite frankly, astounded.

And don't waste your time, anybody, worrying about who the Dems. will run in 2008.  They'll lose, no matter who it is.  And the Dems. have absolutely no chance of regaining control of either branch of the Federal Congress in 2006.  No, we're in for a long stretch of one-party government.

And regardless of how bad the R's mess things up, they'll blame Clinton for it, or liberals (who have no power in government, now), or terrorists ... or whatever.  Kerry ran a great race. The Democrats had the money (this time) to fight the R's toe to toe, and they did. Kerry won all 3 debates according to national polls. He won on the issues and he tied on image. The Democrats ran a great candidate (a decorated war hero) against the worst President in modern U.S. history ... and they still lost. There's nothing wrong with the Democratic Party. There's something very wrong with America.

You made those predictions with your head?  I assumed heart.  We saw the same information and made our predictions, but I only missed three states.  Did I use my head better?
CNN for some reason still won't credit Bush with Iowa and New Mexico, which he obviously won.

If you supposedly used your head to vote for George Bush, then no.  I think you used it very poorly.  I gave the American people more credit than that.
