Bush has Won.
In Denmark, 15:22 Danish time, we were told that Bush had won, that Kerry couldn't do anything to win now.
Congratulations to the President! 4 More Years! 4 More Years!

That's not quite true... Ohio is still too close to call, and whoever gets that gets the nation. It's the 2004 Florida.

I just watched on BBC news that it could take 10 days to verify the absentee and overseas ballots under Ohio state law.
Will they really wait that long?

My first thought when I saw the name of this thread:
"Nooooooooo! Not four more years of Bush-bashing! I can't take it anymore!"
But, no, it's not decided yet. Ohio is still counting, and that's a state with 20 or 21 electoral votes. The last time I checked, it was Bush: 254, Kerry: 252. So nothing's decided yet.
Although I seem to remember hearing that Bush is currently leading in Ohio.....

It's possible but not realistic that Kerry can win in Ohio.
The Amis have the choice beetween dumb and dumber. It doesn't matter who'll finally win.

Well Real_Deal at what network did you hear that prognosis?
Yes I understand danish aswell. And nope, the coverage hasnt been great at the 2 danish networks. I had to switch to BBC and CNN during the night, because it simply wasnt adequate.
All said and done it looks like Bush will take Ohio, but with 250.000 provisional ballots still uncounted and 120.000 votes in bush favour, it certainly isnt a mathematical impossibility for Kerry to win. Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No.
And I can understand why Kerry wont concede, if you look at what happened to Gore in 2000, where he conceded only to learn afterwards, that if he had pushed for a recount in all of Florida (instead of just the democratic precinct), he would have carried the state, and the presidency.

Ohio is one of two states that as of yet has not been decided. Since Ohio carries 20 Electoral College votes, it is the state that will determine who has won the 2004 Election.
At this very moment, George Bush is winning the popular vote in the state of Ohio by approximately 136,000 votes. There are an estimated 100,000 - 200,000 provisional votes outstanding, which must be sorted out and counted before a Bush victory can be officially declared. Unless John Kerry receives a disproportionate amount of votes from these outstanding provisional votes, George Bush will win Ohio and all 20 of its Electoral College votes, thus securing him the presidency for another four years.
IMHO, the gracious thing to do would be for the Democrats to concede victory to George Bush and let things move forward; however, John Kerry and John Edwards both have promised their supporters that "every vote will be counted." Basically, the Democrats can accept defeat now, or they can take legal action to ensure that every last voted is counted and re-counted, which will drag the election results out for another 10 days or more. Both sides will be making statement here shortly, so perhaps Bush will deliver his victory speech or Kerry will deliver his concession speech.
I hope this explains things a little better.

Kerry will be making his public concession speech at 1300 EST ( about 35 minutes from now ). I assume Bush will make a victory speech shortly thereafter.
I'm one of those Ohio voters and was up till 3:30am watching TV. It was becomming pretty clear by 1:00-2:00am that Kerry had very little chance of winning.
Much of the heavy voting and long waiting lines were in the larger cities. These were the votes Kerry was counting on getting. But during the night the Bush lead was actually increasing not decreasing.

This is great, he won by 3.5 million votes in the popular vote too.
All of my predictions for the states came true except three. Not too shabby.

Hmmm, Im sorry Real_Deal, but actually Bush has started 2 wars. One just in Afganistan, and one a little more dubious in Iraq.
At the same time Bush, to clinch Florida, promised that he would remove Castro during the next 4 years. If that is not a latent threat for yet another war, I dont know what is.
On the notion of stfu. Well a small anecdote from a catholic priest.
It was written on a wall in Auschwitz (Not that im in any way comparing Bush to Hitler mind you).
When they came for the Jews, I stfu (Offcourse he didnt use those words, but bear with me) because why should it concern me.
When they came for the communist I stfu, because why should that concern me.
When they came for me, nobody spoke up, because they where none left to speak.
Hope you get the drift, and I hope you pay attention in school on the subject of history.
