Asmo, you're quite a talented young man!
Although No Guarantees isn't exactly my preferred type of music, there's enough of a hard rock edge to it to make me enjoy listening to it.
It's a very good song. Lengthen the lyrics by a verse or two and extend the solo a bit and it would be a great song. Of course, I think Rime Of The Ancient Mariner is too short, so my opinion prolly doesn't mean much in that regard

No Guarantees is a great song.
Though Love Declared, the guitar riff sounds very familiar. It sounds like that song there I know the lyrics...
"Stay tonight, fight the break of dawn,
come tomorrow, tomorrow I'll be gone..."
You know that song. Sounds really similar imo. Love Declared was okay.
The first song, No Guarantees is very good. However I think I would try playing like the acoustic part on like a Les Paul with a nice tube amp on clean setting. Add a little bit of echo and reverb. That's what I would do. Then have the lead solo come in a bit sharper more powerful.
But mainly the first thing I'd do is have a stronger baseline. Make the baseline go along with the little riff. Although it's sort of U2ish to do that, it just works. Make the baseline stronger. I guarantee doing that will be very good, try to picture a nice little baseline coming in there. I can think of something right now.
I'll right it out in 16th notes for you.

I believe you mean, Save Tonight by Eagle Eye Cherry. I wondered about what you said, and played them right together. It does sound the same, exactly the same in fact...
Asmodean, is this a coinsidence?
Playing the beginnings over and over, I think I like Asmodean's better actually.

Must be the rythym, if you know anything about music and chord sequences then you can figure out that in our song it goes from the 1st, to the 5th the minor7th then the 3rd
Whereas Save Tonight goes from the minor6th to the 4th to the 1st to the 5th.
All cleared up?
Though as I've said before, Love Declared was written by the other guitarist in the band.

I was in the school band years ago...but I played the trumpet, so I don't know about chords. I'd say it's all cleared up now.

This is a line from the movie "American Pie". One of the female characters (who acts shy and nerdy) would always start her stupid stories with those memorable, but annoying words. She would then go on about how her and some friends would do these dorky things at Band Camp (i.e. Push someone into the lake, put a frog on their pillow...yawn!). At the end of the movie, when the main character has lost all hope of getting laid on prom night, he sits next to this girl and she says to him: "One time, at Band Camp, I stuck a flute up my *****".
The scene then cuts to her and the main character getting naked in a bedroom. The funny thing is she is acting all dominant, slapping him around, and saying: "You're my *****"! Funny stuff!

I've been getting that No Guarantees song in my head. It's really good man.
Yeah I mean if this was produce and mixed for a record deal, this would be like even better. I wouldn't bother with anything I recommended, it's fine the way it is.
