Skills you can't get...

Maybe some of you did not know this...
This is a general example, and I guess it can be applied to other hero types as well (Beastmaster + Fire Magic etc.), didn't test it though. So here goes:

Barbarians can't get Water magic, right? You can't get it from the normal hero development, nor from any university (it's always marked red and unaccesible)... But you CAN get it from the Witch hut nevertheless! Not that it's going to deside every second game but still; it's nice to know. Even more interesting, let's say you get water from a witch hut - but barbarian still has 0 chance to improve it from the normal development, so you will still have to expert every other skill before you can improve your water to advanced? Wrong! You can, and probably will, improve your water magic before the time all other seven skills are experted, the exact probability I don't know, it would require some seriuous testing.

I read all the tactics section, or I thought I did. Didn't see though, so I thought who knows? A question than: if you have a 0/12 chance to get water, how is it possible that you can advance it before other skills are experted? This means that the chance isn't 0/12 when you are aiming at adv and exp lvl?

The chance of getting a skill offered for basic has nothing to do with the advancing of an existing skill.
When your hero levels up, the comp doesn´t "chose" one of your existing skills by picking the one with the most chances for your hero class, that is what he is doing when offering new skills. The existing skills on your hero all have the same percentage to get advanced.

Yes! That I know!

I did thought that percentages are relevant for the distribution of skill advancment.
So, if an overlord has basic air and basic logistics, and everything else filled, he will have 50% chance for each on the next level-up?

Skills

I believe certain character classes never get the opportunity to learn certain skills.

For example, Necromancy never comes up for a non-Undead Hero, and I'm pretty sure Water Magic never comes up for any of the Inferno Heroes.

That being said, I once had Orrin (a Castle Hero) learn Necromancy at a Witch Hut.

I'm not so sure

Heretics are the class, that has the best chance to learn all 4 magic schools. This doesn't mean you should play an heretic, and it doesn't mean it is required to learn all 4 magic schools. It just means, heretics can learn water magic

Here's the complete list of skills you can't get by leveling up. But you can get any skill from a Witch Hut or Scholar

(I skipped necro because only death knight and Necromancer can get it)

Knight
Cleric
Ranger - Fire
Druid
Alchemist
Wizard - Resistance
Demoniac
Heretic
Death Knight - Leadership, First Aid, Estates
Necromancer - Leadership, First Aid
Overlord - Water
Warlock - Resistance
Barbarian - Water
Battle Mage - Navigation
Beastmaster - Fire
Witch - Resistance
Planeswalker
Elementalist - Resistance

Let me know if you find any mistakes

You are wrong because you cant know how many times you will be offered water magic but you can know the chance that you will be offered water magic. There is a diffrence.

OK, a matter of expression. You are right - if you get all the time new skill you will get only 6 offers (or 7, if you start with advance skill).

But for the statistic the chanses are calculated, as Binabik said, per 112 possibilities. You know that.

So to be precise - you MAY be offered water magic only once if you are demoniac and only twice, if you are heteric. If you decline water magic with a demoniac - no more chances.
