Poll Question: The Way of the.... GOLEM
The new unupgraded stone golem is just so cool. Nothing else comes close. In fact it must be up there with my favourite H5 unit so far.

I agree the new version is cool, but they might have overdone it with the other sword and everything... The Golem's strenght comes from his stone body, not weapons. I loved the way H3 Golems hit the enemy with their fists! Crappy units, nevertheless. Anyway, H3 Iron and Gold Golem came close, but I voted for H5.
P.S. The Diamond Golem is missing, but it must have been the worst one EVER.

I personaly liked the Egyptian Golem look of Homm4. I never liked the Heroes 3 version, since they looked puny humans from plastic (stone golem) and were slow, Iron and Gold were abit better and Daimond Golem was funny looking (with sunglases)... The Heroes 5 Iron and Steel Golems look abit more decent though, perhaps because of the swords...

h5 version looks like the Frankenstein with swords. h3 golems are too plain.
a very close tie between h2 and h4, but i'll go with the former

Another tough decision between versions of a creature.
I would vote for them in this way: H3(any version of the golems), H2, H4, H5.
Bonus points to the diamond golem for having a natural resistance to 85% of a spells' damage, although I could rarely hire enough of them for the hiring to be worthwhile.
H2 were good damage melee creatures that you could have early on in a scenario, plus that hollow metal sound they made when they walked
H4's gold golem also gets bonus points for being a high damage melee creature.

I remember my first few games of Heroes 2 back in 1996. My army consisted of several dozen Peasants, a few Archers, and a group of Halflings. I attacked a stack of Iron Golems and lost, prompting me to think that Golems were one of the most powerful creatures ever. And then later I attacked some Veteran Pikemen...
H2 Golems for me.

Well actually, I must've voted for H2 creatures .6087686754456% of the time. There were several H3 votes and one H5. I consider H3 to be the more complete and more fun game, but H2 remains closest to my heart. It was my first Heroes game, after all.
I was initially disappointed when I learned that H3 didn't have any Steel Golems. I don't think much about it anymore, although I think Bracada's alchemists should've at least made use of steel in some of their creations. The continent was at war, so why stop at iron? I don't think the gold and diamond Golems count, since they're not in the Tower town.

Homm5 golems by far ... The swords adds a nice touch, and they just seem more imposing than the others.

i love H2 golems, especialy the way they strike, although slow, its very loud, and the unusual color of the Iron Golem delights me.In 3 they simply are too small. In 4,they're big,but why all this obsession for Egypt, the new version ruins the golem, why the swords?

homm2 golems look like a poorly drawn version of that guy from the Wizard of Oz.
homm3 stone golems actually look like golems (i.e. an animated stone).
homm4 golems and homm3 gold golems look well... gay.
homm5 golems look like they came from a different game like Mech Warrior. I don't know why, but I also think that golems shouldn't have any weapons.

The Gold Golems from H3 & H4 look like they are from Egypt, but if you look at the Iron Golems from H3, they kind of look like they are wearing armor from Ancient Greece or Rome or somewhere like that.

I don't like the sword. Imo the golem should use its strength (from its "hard" nature) to fight. No weapons...

In most fantasy games, Golems are not-weapon creatures
I vote to H3(Best Iron Golems).
IMHO H5 ver. Golems are "grotesque":/

Come on guys, the H2 one looks like the tinman for gods sake!! It's terrible IMO, seriously, like the worst unit by far.. it doesn't fit the serious theme of Heroes, looks like it's made for a childrens book.

My decision stands. H2's Golems were more impressive.
Did I ever mention that the H3 Iron Golem makes me think of chocolate for some reason? I can imagine one tasting like chocolate-covered almonds.
