H5 is virtually exactly identical to H3. Besides a few extra skills and the ability structure... everything else is basically H3.

that's untrue.
heroes build totally different, towns build totally different.. that's not all the differences , but those alone make it a much different game

No NO H4 was a different game. H5 is same basic concept. Alot of same skill setc. Even reverted back to 3 level ups up to Expert. So besides the new ability structure every thing is virtually the same. Almost all the creatures are the same name. Alot of the map buildings have same name and same function...
H5 IS H3 only with fancier graphics etc

hello, I am interested in getting good at HOMM V and playing in TOH. I never quite grasped all the advanced tactics of HOMM 3, and I didn't play HOMM 4.
If anyone good wants to hit me up on xfire (name is bigbadvoodoo), I would be glad to let them whoop my ass so I could learn a thing or two

1.As Lich King rightly pointed out in another thread, we all are noobs right now and all are learning from the beginning, so no hyper-advanted tactics for hommV so early, guess
2.Also until the patch comes out (promised by the end of june), hommV multiplayer is almost unplayable right now...
But anyway - welcome to ToH!

thanks. I used to be able to do a couple AI tricks in homm 3, but it doesn't look like any of them work anymore T.T
anyway, I've found multiplayer nothing but frustrating so far... of all the losses I've gotten (5) I have crashed from the game... how lame

Splitting and using fodder to take retaliation or distract the AI still works fine. There are some set tactics for each town so far, like the gremlin/golem thing for tower. I guess we will have to wait and see what "secret" tactics are implemented by the rushians
I have noticed that if you "hide" a unit that the AI has as top priority (to attack), then the AI will not move its units. Will have to look into this.

well I've been doing some stuff myself... playing only dungeon and necro really
ghost baiting (their evasion makes them kickass fodder)
but I'm having a hard time killing neutrals with dungeon without sustaining losses

Personally I love the game and I'm fairly sure just about anyone who enjoyed HoMM3 will also enjoy it. The graphics may take a bit to get the hang of navigating around but once you do they really look great. There are a number of changes that make HoMM5 a game all it's own but again I personally like the changes because they make for different playing styles and strategies. You have a number of town building choices and the skill tree for heroes is much more diverse. It also uses an inititive system in combat now so faster creatures attack more often than slower ones adding more tactical options to combat. Multiplayer is all but unusable except in hotseat right now however so if that is your main interest there really isn't any hurry until this gets fixed... hopefully by the end of this month.

Preciousss....
Hey,
- Well,Hamsi128 there is always the demo that is still downloadable from mightandmagic.com ( it is limited to Haven and Inferno )
- That way you could get a first hand impression instead of others saying how they like/dislike the game. As I remember it's only around 700mb's dl. Well just a thought.
-Guz
P.S.
- Could anyone please tell me whats up with the celestialheaven.com 's skill wheel page ? It dosent load as it used to do, and I know it was curiosity that killed the cat, but in this case it's my printer and my daughter combo so I cant print anything at the moment.
