That's true. But in high school, many kids get jobs. Are parents just going to take their money away?

This is only for the vacations.

You are only 15 years old, the stuffs like working in the vacations, during the summer on the beach and etc, are looking nice in your point they are not so good at least not in Bulgaria.

I think that it's good that teenagers get some experience with jobs, inspite of the fact that most of them get unfair conditions (according to the statistics here). Usually the money is spent quickly, and they get serious jobs only when they grow. Noone can live from a salary of a 15 years old. Like I said, the experience is worth it, in my opinion.

Experience? Well maybe... it dependent on what are you practising. If you are a waiter or porter or if you sell ice-cream, etc... this is only season work. You don't want to practise it for the rest of your life, right? I can't see much experience in it, maybe for the next summer? If  work on the same place... but not in your after-life - after the school. Again this is only my point of view.

This kind of work is always temporal. And by saying "experience" I mean to experience with employer, employer-employee relationship, experience of what to do with money that you get... These are important things. It's good to know them when you're starting a serious job for many years, it's good to show confidence.

Well, here in America, most people my age work part-time year-round.

Yes, experience may be useful. But, unless you work in a job that's related to your future job, it's usually better to spend that time on education.

Here work-experience is priceless. It doesn't matter where you work as long as you work.

You won't get a work without relations if you don't have experience.
Employers only take people with previous work experience. Now the funny thing is where to get it because no-one takes you to work if you don't have work experience. Really annoying.

My friend for example has been trying to get work for summer vacations since he was 15. He still hasn't gotten any. That's four years now. That sucks.

I don't think I can contribute much to this discussion, other than my own experience.

Background: My parents have been very loose with me and my brother. My father was there to provide a kick to the ass whenever we did something really bad of course, but other than that, we were given a lot of freedom, and basicly, just a lot of love Sappy as that may sound.

Anyway, by the age of 12 I got my very own PC on my own room.. and no parents to monitor. By the age of 12,1, I did cybersex and visited all the naughty sites. Personally, I tend to think this was good for my development, as I grew up to be (in my opinion) very tolerant and open - particularly to people who are sexually "weird" or a "minority".

And that includes pedophiles, actually. I met a former teacher online when I was around 13. Yes, he was a local. Yes, he was a pedophile. Yes, he tried to tempt me to meet up. Yes, I was tempted. No, he was not a rapist. No, I did not give in to his requests, since I reasoned I would regret it later.

There are people who claim young ones need to be protected since they can't see the consequences of their actions. Bullsnow, in my case, I knew perfectly well what I was doing. However - I'm not mainstream. I was content enough with my naughty sites and cybersex that I didn't feel a need to try anything IRL But others could disagree.

I really don't think I am a standard example, since in my opinion, most kids that grow up with too much freedom, grow up with a sheer lack of respect and morals, and expect the world to bow to their will as if they were still that spoiled 7 year old.

I have absolutely no idea about bringing up children xD

Just my 1 cent.

About child upbringing I think someone once said that parents' job is to arrange disappointments to their kids.

You are offing, arent you? Thread is about pedophilism, and not parents.

But a bit off: My parents let me be free, unlike all other childs parents, they let me to grow long hair, they let me to learn guitar playing, bass guitar playing and singing, they let me to make a band.

Pedophiles are bastards !!

Parents should at least tell their children about pedophiles, it the least they can do. My mother always told me not to go with stangers, especially when they're offering candy, because then I might die (When I was younger I dreaded death, and my mother knew that).

However other boys and girls didn't get that advice and didn't end up well at all. In the 1990's about half-a-dozen girls just vanished from the streets, when returning home from school, the local drugstore or a concert. Police couldn't find a single track of them; they were lost forever, untill in 1996 the police caught a guy named Marc Dutroux. He was a automechanic in the quiet village of Marcinelles, not far from Liege. Policemen found a secet passageway in his cellar, where they found several chambers. In one of them they found a bed which Dutroux had customised in order to wrape and then strangle his victims. In another room, they found two girls alive: Laetitia Delhez and Sabine Dardenne were lucky, and their names are eternally bound with childmurderes and -wrapers. The girls were 10 and 8 years old. Dutroux was taken away, as was his wife, who confessed to be an acomplace in at least 5 other cases of sexual abuse and murders of minors.

Dutroux and his 3 acomplices (one of them chatted himself out of jail, the impudent worm) had abducted and wraped 7 children in 5 years. Dutroux was already known for sexually assaulting women, wrapeing and traumatising them, but only got 7 years. Because he "behaved well" in jail, he was set free after three years. He killed 5 girls between 8 and 15, all of them were wraped. The all died, but of different causes. Ann Marchal (15) was strangled when she resisted Dutroux's wrape-attempt. Her friend Eefje Lambrechts (15) shared Anns fate. The three other girls, Loubna Ben Aïssa, Julie Lejeune and Mélissa Russo  where thrown in the same chamber, where Laetitia and Sabine were found, but they were starved to death, a fate Laetitia and Sabine would have shared if they weren't freed by the police in 1996.

Dutroux and his wife each got lifelong sentences. One of the acomplices got 20 years, the other chatted himself out of court (and justice). Dutroux still makes it to the news sometimes, when he is moaning about the dire conditions in which he is kept (ironically Belgium has one of the most soft prisonsystems, so he hasn't got anything to complain about IMHO). Everyone knows he is just crying for attention, a typical act of a socio-/psychopath. Keep him firmly locked up, I say

When pedophiles do manage to get free, I don't think they ever should work with children again. It's like giving a dog a beefsteak and  commandign him to "stay". Once you've turned your back he'll devour his gift with absolute smugness and arrogance.

EDIT: I think Dutroux deserves a death penalty, one of the few cases inwhich I believe they are nessecairy. Other cases would include Jozef Fritzl, Wolfgang Pricklopill and Michel Fourniret

The death penalty is a touchy thing with me. I believe if one can be placed at the scene by their DNA or by own admittance then yes. Our justice system is skewed however and should not be relied on as a way to punish by the way of taking lives unless the above is in play. As far as pedophiles are concerned they have no right to live and breathe. I can tolerate a murderer with more understanding then someone who uses children for sexual pleasure.

You were tempted and think your availability to the internet with no supervision was healthy? Not to say that it would not have tempted you anyway, but this availability to the net at a young age with no restrictions was not of any help.  Prime example of why the net should be regulated to a certain degree. Yes he is a rapist but to a sicker degree.

Fully agree with that.

To a certain degree yes, But unfortunately our current options are mostly: Let the child roam free around the internet or sit next to them every second while he/she is in internet wich wouldn't acutally help cause the child would go to those sites while you are away.Internet has become too uncontrolled.

I disagree. I think it's the parents' job to control their child's access to the internet. There are different ways of doing it than just sitting next to them when they use it.

They have filters etc however they will just go to a friends house etc. At least if you put parental filters on you can breathe at the end of the day and know that you tried you best.

I doubt that children are going to go through all the trouble of doing all that to an extent that it would harm them. And, besides, where are their friends' parents?
