Tell Me What You Want

Well I've only been here for a week now and by far this website is the friendliest, clean and by far organized very nicely. Reason being of this new thread is to start my old hobby back up but in a new game HOMM5 map designs. Back during the age of heroes three I created over 100 personal and public maps for players and friends, what I've seen so far people want to get a full heroe and above all XL maps "I too would like to see XL maps"
Going over the new editor seems like making a flash video but alittle bit more simpler, however one problem I see is I'll be making multi player maps until I can understand the campaign creation part so for now tell me what you'd like to see in a multi player map AND ABOVE ALL DONT STOP SHORT ON ONE SUGGESTION
give me all the things you'd like in a map and I'll compile together dos/donts for my series of maps that'll be entirely made for public use.

You may say gee you have to much time on your hands.....well most my friends are married aka have no free time anymore or have gone into the military >.< at times we all get together online and play heroes three for 8 hours but as far as my old hobby I use to dedicate a day to designing maps till my eyes hurt. So instead of getting a bad hobby like binge drinking I'm going to create maps something I liked doing alot.Drinking is fun too but destructive



If you want personal maps post requests and I'll do them too but as for now just multi player maps  sorry
I'm going to let this thread get atleast a week old depending on requests before I begin work. But as of now I have 10 personal XL 2 lv maps that I have made for myself.

You may want to make a map for levelling up,I'm sure it would be in demand Say,you place 6 heroes of each faction next to a sphinx(sand objects I think) giving 1250000 xp(to customize just place the question 'What is the favoured resource of demon lords?' and including the option sulfur).That gives xp enough for lvl 31 for testing how to get ultimate ability.Or place one that gives 35000 xp to test skill choices up to lvl 15.I have used it myself and it has been quite insightful.
I usually like medium/large maps for 4-6 players if you make any BTW how do you upload maps?

Not understanding your question uploading maps from map folder or internet or to a zip folder ? And did you know most major reward depots will regenerate after a certain time period so you can revisit dragon bastions and so on. 25 veiws so far and one post hmmmm let me start this off real quick.

No town portal or instant transporting maps......Island hoppers, peasant wars"nothing but peasants " oh and most my maps were nothing but impossible ranks...so I may make them herioc diffculty with of course making it ai and human balanced tho the ai in HOMM5 is very unique. No tele map with Mt.s and monoliths to travel to and from.......

"saw a computer player in rose map summon a boat and he did alittle dance on the beach never going into his boat O.o this went on for 1 month till I finaly got to him and killed him "his turn would last 3mins b/c he kept going up and down up and down....reminded me of HOMM3 computers hopin in and out of their town till turn was over >.<"

I want new, large, balanced and multi-player maps out fast. =p

It's nice to know there's such a commited and dedicated map designer. I used to do it for H2... but I never have the patience to complete XL maps. The best I did for H2 was a L, Rpg map.

I was thinking of a theme for a mp map. Basically one that can allow a player to choose to specialise in might OR magic, and develop fully in that particular field. I do not know how much can be done to make such a map possible though. Perhaps if you choose to take the path of magic, you can only access to schools of dark, light, summoning, destructive, enlightenment and sorcery, and you will only receive bonus in spell power and knowledge (if possible). On the other hand, you will only have access to the other schools of primary skills and only receive bonus in attack and defence. Considering the importance of light magic to might users, perhaps light (and perhaps logistics) can be made accessible to both.

The game may start this way: the hero starts in front of two one-way monolith the allow you to enter an area with witch huts that offers these specific fields. Once you choose the skills that you wish to learn (specific conditions to force the hero to choose 4-5 witch huts before the next event is triggered), another one way monolith appear and you will be transported to your town.

I meant on the internet.About the guardians' return to dragon utopias(if I undestood correctly) are you sure,is there a chance you reloaded an earlier save?If you are right how much time does it take?

I want a map with everything on, where u fighht epic battles for epic rewards and 2-3 topes in every players surroundings!!!

The Dragon Utopia's regenerate every month, just like other treasure areas, like those Undead Crypts. Pyramids do so as well.

I'd like to see a "too big for you" map with 8 players (if it's possible in h5), lots of castles (also neutrals - but hard to capture!), lots of arties (but heavily guarded) and generally very difficult - don't forget the teleporters taking you close to enemy ranks - that was the most annoying thing a h3 map could bring! An extremely difficult map is needed for h5.

From what I've read here I'm going to start on a To large for you map, as far as limit to castles havent run into that problem

XL map

All races are designated in certain areas in map"all balanced resource skills" however Ai does do stupid things hell he'll probably leave his arts along >.< all in all a multi player map all human.

Fully build a heroe max out skills

Huge numbers of troops 500-1000k plenty of cash to buy your needs.

No instant travel No town portal however there will be two scrolls well gaurded with the spells "only two scrolls"

Many troop depots.

Theme GREED all creatures dangerous some not tainted.

Map may last well over a year so battles will be huge.

All Heroes open all artifacts open yes even wings Now dont worry about the special heroes with special combat skills you should be able to build legions so as to balance it out enough.

Monoliths will not be in this map "b/c they only have two types no different ones so you cant really make a monolith go to a way point you want if you have ten on a map it randomly throws you to random monolith. Ubi make red blue so on monoliths!!!

Whirlpools will make you take them to get to different locked areas.You dont lose many if they fall over

Humorous map READ RUMORS I have gone to jokes thread and taken a few good ones so you may see your joke being told by bartendar, rumors will lead to Tear and scrolls.Being theme is greed alot of funny places built by the races.

RANDOM EVENTS might want to save alot "but its funner not to"

Well gaurded mines "the good mines " Barracks to keep enemies out until big enough O.o

Warlocks and wizards will not get artifact guild that would kill if one month they get to buy wings.

Highly detailed may take me a week to build this map dedicated to this website and to everyone here.

Hidden messages in terrain if your good you'll see my signature in map I always did this on every map I've ever made. Plus it keeps people from stealing my work and claiming it their own unless they totaly change the terrain around to remove my "many" signatures O.o

If you can find my House >.< you'll be well rewarded.

No artifact merchants anywhere this is make sure no one gets relics unless they find them and battle for them "aka well guarded treasures"
Look closly for there will be many coves with hidden arts and so on.

Hopefully Ai will not go screwball on this map I've seen it before on my other works and its annoying. So I'll make it AI friendly >.< but this map is mostly made for friends to play online or on one computer.

Being every race is going to be on map it will be real tight so dont expect to walk around that huge army to get by, the terrain is going to be vallies and tight quarters. There will be safe churchs in many places just in case but not underground...why would there be churchs underground???

GET enlightenment, just a rec there b/c I too hate seeing a map littered with mana wells....there will be mana wells but not that many.

NO WASTED SPACE this is why map may take a week. Be pateint with me folks the maps I usally spit out are no where detailed as this ones going to be.

Victory condition KILL ALL so if you find grail good for you no end game tho

One more thing I've noticed if resources get to a certain number 1000s they tend to stop collecting that goes on money too"300k++" so you may want to watch out for this.But if youre built up and bought everything oh well O.o

You can build a elemental army if you capture there breeding grounds"how they breed I dont know O.o " troop depots.

Sylvan Haven Acadmy start on top of map, Necro Demons and Warlocks below.

Ok heres description before starting map TEASE.

For the past 500 years all races were getting along fine that is until a wizard came across some strange books describing hidden vaults under their feet and right next to their very own mine shafts.
After a few years of excavting every race found treasures beyound their wildest dreams!!! Now no one wants to share and everyone wants the others newly discovered DRAGON HORDE!!!

I'll be checking in on this thread to see more recomendations for I'll be able to read up on it m-f 9-6 "modem at home broken gotta wait till payday to get new one" I'm at my office right now checking in on thread >.< "I own my insurance office I'm not sneeking in "

You may want to check into the "occupy 8-towns to win" victory condition that seems to be hard-coded into the game, though.

As far as Monoliths go, you mean Teleporter Portals? Just edit the object properties and assign each combo its own group number. Suppose you have 9 portals, 3 groups of 2 and 1 group of 3, then you assign the first 3 linked portal groups to respectively group 0, 1 and 2, and you assign the 3 random portals all to group 3.

You will only get teleported to a (randomly chosen) portal within the same group, not a portal in another group - and if the group only contains 2 portals, you know which one you will be teleported to 100% of the time .

Sounds like a map with personality It's been too long since I last played a decent XL map.What about neutral towns?I hope we don't get into territorial wars for ownership of 8 towns-though it would end the map sooner Since the map is big we'll be raiding dragon utopias monthly I guess.Too bad we can't get many artifacts on the hero.I hope there will be a chance we can build tier 6 in week 2 even if we have to fight for that.Finally I hope none can get an advantage over the other: Distant towns for necros to buy and undeadify too many creatures.Some kind of failsafe against training maybe do away with it-NO LEGIONS OF MARKSMEN in a big map it's more fun to amass and battle with 7 tier creatures.All kinds of neutrals for good usage of sylvan's avenger.Neutral creature dwellings(preferrably no player's faction creatures) for dungeon's pit ritual sacrificing.Witch huts for learning rare skills(logistics with wizard,warmachines with rangers).Make sure diplomacy is not overly poweful(being extremely difficult for powerful stacks to join but still be worth taking it).
That's all I can think of for now!I hope it helps a bit.

While I haven't looked into it yet, couldn't it be that the location of the tear is totally random? I know that in HoMM3, you could place the Grail somewhere on the map and specify a radius around that spot. When the map was loaded to play it, the Grail would randomly be placed anywhere in the circular region specified that way.

Here's an idea. In all versions of HoMM, there's always at least ONE Tolkien map. LotR, Hobbit or WotR. Maybe you can be the first to create such a map. =]
