Changes in 0.8b
- Added some incentive to go to the underground in the middle
- Removed guardian of abandoned mine (it's already guarded)
- Added a second well on each side
- Added Dwarven Treasury in each underground
- Replaced Temple in center with Hillfort

Download River Amras 0.8c here

Changes in 0.8c
- Based on many playtesting games I have replaced the Treant Thicket with an Ancient Tree, a chest and a wood pile.

I'm still welcoming any feedback.

Well I've just finished playing your map (hotseat) with my buddy...
I really was hoping for some progress after 3 years with the mapeditor around... (the look of the map is kinda early day's stuff)
another down side is all the necro guards in the middle+ only necro guards in the garrsion.... I know 1 faction who may suffer by that... (Inferno)
I did break early week 4 with week of disease week 3.....
1 question does the Aband.Mine down under always give gold?
we both got gold....
+ the other gold mine + 2 in the middle gold where never an issue here....

____________
Hack and Slash....

Yeah the abandoned mine always gives gold.

Thanks for the feedback on the garrisons. I'm not sure what the best army would comprise of (suggestions appreciated!). I was hoping for early week 4 break as that is the time it takes to do all the stuff on your island.

I am looking for a multiplayer map with charm rather than symmetry, which works for Ubi-games. I´d be happy about any recommendations and download links.

I´m also interested in 3.1 single player maps that are really challenging, even for tournament players. (If that sort of maps exists. )

Thanks in advance.

You was pretty good homm3 player, if my memory is not failing me, right?

Anyway, had really good recomendations about map called "Mercenaries" (author - Frenzy). Its single player and a bit not typical homm5 map, but is heaps of fun, or so i've been told. Hope u will find it yourself (at maps4heroes or somewhere else). Also have heard that "Rakshas Revolt" is good single map.

From multi-maps - ToH stuff is da best, as far as I know (start with Fiurs and Jinx creations, really beautiful design), but guess u have tried those alrdy.

If my memory is not failing me, I was a rather overestimated H3 player. (Though not as overestimated as some of my countrymen ).

Thank you for the advice. The map has been quite fun to play so far, even though I am to lazy to read 90% of the text stuff. The most enjoyable thing about Heroes5 is being a newbie again.

Greetings to the multiplayer community!

I need some help for a map I am about to finish.

I need to know your opinion about this army:
4 Archangels
14 Paladins
30 Imperial griffins
30 Priests
60 Marksmen
60 Squires

I know that the question is rather open, so considering you are about to fight with or against this exact army leaded by a level 14 Klaus, is it weak, too strong, badly arranged etc??

I need the help of experienced multiplayers so much.
Thanks

(I hope this isn't too much off topic. By the way, the map is finished and I only await your opinion about the army, so I would post it in here anyway.)

That is a bit vague. When will you face this hero, what level will you have, are there any dwellings? Or how many arties/stat bonuses are you likely to have by then? Will he be human controlled?

Unless you mean it's in a garrison and you have Klaus?

It is meant to be a kind of a duel:

Two (human) players start with identical heroes. (same to the last skill). Then they are to make a series of decisions to pick artifacts. One artifact of each kind (head, shield etc) and two rings. They do this via one-way monolits. At the end -by chance- either have golden horseshoe and tattered flag or fountain of youth and temple and idol and fountain of fortune. Then they fight. The two players have to make the same choices, they might end up with all the same artifacts and luck/moral bonuses or with completly different ones. They also have the same selection of spells.

ps: the player knows which artifact is through  which monolith

Sounds a bit monotonous, what is the point if you only fight your mirror? No option skills picked, always same artifacts available, always same hero. How about adding a script so that each town has x weeks of units to hire so that you can get different factions with same army strength? Asheera was kind enough to help me with that in the duel map. About the army itself I would suggest that the numbers be based on their respective growths. So assuming you want a week 4 battle in which you build tiers 1-4 during week 1, 5-7 plus castle during week 2 you have:

5 Archangels
10 Paladins
35 Imperial griffins
15 Priests
84 Marksmen
70 Squires

Basically the formula is 7 x basic growth for 1-4 and 5 x growth for 6-7. But that's just a general formula, you may want to add more of the lower tiers to have stacks of equal strength. 50% boost would possibly be just right.

It is not a "real" map. No towns at all eg. Is it monoton? but aren't duels monoton then? It is meant to be a duel, to find out who is better in H5, being able to beat "yourself". So if you beat your pal he can't whine: "But archangels are IMBA!!!!!!!!". And there is a high variety of artifact combinations. it is: 2^9=512. Sure some of them is not very good, but I hoped it would mean a good amount of variety. Was I building castles in Spain (what a stupid expression)? Do you think others would find it boring and unchallenginng to fight with the same armies so your only choice of customization would be artifacts? Because I did it this way on purpose.

Having played hundreds of games and duels I have learnt to appreciate game diversity, a map with only a specific mirror match would not hold my interest for more than a few games. Duels feature every faction, involve town/library/shrine spells so that possibilities like a summoning fortress are real if a bit rare, two artifact merchants for more strategies and ability to buy the stacks you wish so that you have more tactical options. And of course the hero build is customizeable with a sphinx that gives you lvl 21 and memory mentor to help. The reason I still play after all those games is that every duel is different but then that's just me.

About arties what you said earlier sounded like they were pretty limited, my bad.

AHA!

So it would hold your interest for a few games. I never wanted much more out of this map. It is just the "Hey do you think you are better then me? Let's have a duel." with a friend. I did something similar in H4 once to see if me or my friend was better -turned out it was him .

I think I'll re-arrange the armies (and then poke it a bit with WinRar, my lack of attention ended up in making a single scenario^^") ad then post it here. I hope there will be some voluteers to test...

I need testers

I have finished the map, it's name is Twinchess_test. I now need some voluntary testers to test it.

I've opened a thread for the map in the mapheaven guild. Please post there, so it would be in one place. Here is the map's thread.
