Why do you prefer Heroes 5

I have a burning question in my mind - why so many players do switch to Heroes 5.

I personaly prefer Heroes 3 and always will, but i am sad to see so few players left and almost every forum and tournament died.

So the questions is: do you really prefer the 5 version over 3, or its just that its more populare, there are more players, talks, tournaments and generally all the fuss.

And do you use to play Heroes 3 or you just started with 5.

I myself still like heroes 3 but with heroes 5 comeing out it basically tied every thing I liked about ver3 and ver4 together.I like the story line to the campaigne and the 3-d world is also very nice.and I like the fact that the heroe's them selves get to take part in the battles and not just casting spells but hitting the creatures anywere on the battle field.so by combineing all the things I liked about ver3 and ver4 they made a game that can and probally take over as the new ver of how heroes should look and be played.and say that I do still play heroes 3 as well just not as often.

In fact, I like Heroes IV best.

Why should one change from playing Heroes III to V? Because some people already played Heroes III so much that they know everything the game has to offer that it is no longer enjoyable playing it over and over again.

Heroes V has a new setting for the stories (dragon gods), new style of gameplay (altough it looks similar to H3) and new maps (not that good in MP, but the editor is out ). And it looks nice as well.

Besides the fact that I can't find my HoMM3 cd?  Well, 3D is nice, the game is fresh, and the skill setup is much much better.  HoMM5 has more potential than even 3, though in its current state, 3 is certainly the better game.  IMHO, in the earlier HoMM titles, the high tier creatures made the others all but useless, which cut out alot of the strategy behind the game.  The reduction of tier 7 power level was Nival's best move.

Diablo said it... H5 is a good mix of the H3 and H4 favorable elements. But there's room for alot more improvement, such as game stability and balance.

Unlike what someone said before, there will always be balance issues, the balance now is still far from acceptable. You need near 100+ wood to complete the Syvan town, and 70+ to make it produce a decent army, which can be still easily slaughtered by the Dark Elves. To be honest, I think every tier building before Treants should cost 5-10 each, and another 5-10 for upgrades. The initial 5 for all was too easy. 10 for Hunter's Cabin, another 10 for Lodge will be good.

H5 can be bigger and better than H3, but it needs 389420627 expansion packs and patches. The idea is good tho. I completely don't understand the complaining about the graphics, it's one of the most beautiful strategy games that has ever appeared, and design of the units is great too (in case you don't like it, at least don't say h4 units looked better - most were ugly and their animation was just pathetic ~~). I don't get the whining about "childish" look too, what the f*ck did you expect - ascii graphics to make it look mature? ~~
The problem of h5 is that it's generally more repetitive than h4 (there are many cheesy strats that you simply _need_ to do - or to lose, h4 offered bigger variety of heroes and spells) and similiar to h3, which is actually bad - because after all those years spent on h3, another game with same mechanics.. well, deja vu.

I'm currently giving H5 another chance after one month ago I uninstalled it disgusted by the storyline of the campaigns which made me see the game a lot more worse then it is. It's quite annoying to play one campaign with the Griffin and Isabel and in the very next one to be asked to play against them with the Inferno. The concepts on which the units were made in H5 are quite bad,

but I am still patient.

I like... the music.
But the music was always great in Heroes. I like the new tech tree ideas so far... and as I said mostly curiosity is what makes me play h5 rather then wog. Of course when wog 3,59 will come out or any new type of town for it I'll go back to wog.

Did you finish the campaigns?

I didn't even hear of WoG, after finishing Heroes 5 I am now playing SoD, I guess that makes WoG next on the list ;-).

Agreed.

Brilliant heroes - Many possible startingheroes in all factions
Relatively balanced skills -
Kept the H3 feeling - and added a much more interesting skillsystem. Every skill has its use, unlike Mysticism, Eagle Eye and Scouting in H3..

And its just SO fun to multiplay it. One countertactic or more against (almost) everything.

Dear Liophy, Heroes 5 sucks, and I don't need a lot of words to justify this, just one: Crag Hack. And the Cyclope Kings.etc.
I do not play heroes 5
I do play sometimes heroes3.You know why.

@layla

How can you say heroes 5 suck if you never even played it?
Yes, Crag Hack isn't there and so is Sandro. That is because heroes 5 has absolutely no connection to the previous heroes.

In fact, Heroes 5 has more in common with the rest of the franchise than the name: its gameplay, its environment, its creatures, etc.. It has a few tweaks and new content but, above else, it has a totally different story setting. This is the reason not to see familiar faces among the heroes.

That's alright, everybody dies, but the spirit of the barbarians and of Crag Hack should not die.Somebody who relies on strength, determination and courage. These are real words, not fake things. There is little magic in the world, but lot of courage. In the real world. Our world. Not theirs.

Well, strength, determination and courage are usually associated with the dwarves as well the barbarians, and the dwarves should join the game in the next few months.

Heroes5 is a good mix of 'newer than heroes1-4', 'D&D ripoff', 'Warcraft3 lookalike' and marketing.

Tell you what, you are not the only one disappointed. But the game is fine now and the patching process(almost every month) will continue no matter what they've told you. We'll have at least one before the expansion which should be coming on November/December and the rebalancing will continue after that on the word of Fabrice the H5 producer.Ubi DOES care though they tend to take things a little slow.
