Behemoths
Who here likes the new behemoths? at first glance i thuoght it was a giant ape or a werewolf (i know they are not in HOMM4). they are strange i liked them better in HOMM3

I agree, they look a bit like giant rodents. You know what the problem is; they don't look so bad in the rendering, but the screenshots of the battles make them look like shaved monkey-rat mutations, a sort of giant teddybears, not an awe inspiring sight as I think it should be.

In heroes 4 there a re a lot of creatures that really look bad because of the new graphics style. Behemoths is one them.

No its not because of the graphics stile, its because the people at NWC aren't working as hard as they did in 1 2 and 3! And I don't like that, evan thogh some picks are impoving and are already cool.

...how can you say NWC isn't working as hard as they have previously? ...to me it seems pretty obvious that they're working much harder, and even if they weren't, at least in general, everything certaintly looks cooler (more realistic at the very least)

This is a matter of opinions but I would be happier if they used the same engine has heroes 3. They could do the same gameplay changes and the creatures would really look better.

...the new engine is part of whats making HoMM4 so great...and yes, most of the creatures were meant to be ugly...there are just some that look ugly in the wrong way, or I just feel are ugly, and they probably don't...

There are two types of uglyness, cool and uncool, and behemoths, zombies and a lot of other creatures of heroes 4 are really ugly but uncool.

yes these new creatures really are hideouse, yet they have more of the realism that HOMM needed, but i still think they are ugly as ****!

i think the behemoths look ugly the cool way. i have also listed them on the #3 in my top three creatures when there was the poll, although they more or less share the place with many other nice monsters. imho they just suit the medieval style so well with their imperfections. there could be other less monkey-like appearances that would also look cool, but that might make them look less unique. on the other hand, if the style of homm4 is not renaissance but eclectics, the reason why i like the behemoths would not hold.
also, i would like the orcs with boar heads if they were bit smaller than humans.

...I think nearly all the ugly monsters that are intended to be be ugly are a "cool ugly"...however, there are some obvious ones that were not intended to be that way...the elves for example...

They have used the same outdated engine for heroes 1-3, this is what I was really hoping they would change in heroes 3 but it was not to be. Why on earth would U want them to use the same engine for heroes 4
