Heaven: If we think of europe before france and england was any good we have Bohemia, Poland, Tautonia and Hungary that based their elite forces on Armoured riding knights, (exept for tautonia that had walking elite knights, that fit Squires well..) But if we mix in abit french, and abit english, we get Heaven.

Sylvian: Well... The forests in HOMM, are they really jungles? Nope, their more like oakforests, like the humongous forests in europe. But.. They have druids, the fire arrows, they use warpaint, they like green stuff... I'm thinking ancient celtic <=> middle age whales! The ancient celts (and Plikts too (not sure if its spelled that way.. but they are ancient natives from the british isles)) cause of the druids and warpaint, and the welsh for their longbowmen. And I'm sure they have some nice forests in Ireland, whom are known to be green.

Dungedon: Well.. Since very few people tend to live below the grownd nowerdays its hard to compare them with anyone. Really, its hard. The lizard stuff.. not very defining.. the hydra? thats greek.. Cant really say anything, but since they rival the Sylvians, and have less area, then lets say its northern ireland.. No offence..

Inferno.. Well.. Tough one.. Its way too.. Undefining.. I mean, they're all deamons..

Necropolis: Pretty much the same as infe.. but conserning the vamps then lets say balkan..

Acadamy: People tend to mix the Ottoman empire, and the Persian empire.. The Ottoman empire was mainly Turkey, but at certain points it streched into europe (the crusades was mainly attacking and counterattacking the Ottoman empire due to their desire to conquer europe). It did not strech VERY far east, allthough somewhat east, like iraq.
The Persian empire however was large, very large. India, pakistan, Iran, and land north of this. The persians used elephs, the persians was good astrono-someting (cant spell it right now..), they formed the basics of math and chemestry together with arabia and earlier India.. they .. dont have gramz, golems, gargz, or titans.. HOWEVER, I beleve Acadamy to be persians.

Fortress: Hmm... Do you know what the word "berserk" derive from? From the word "Bearserk" (meaning a dress/coat/cloac/cape/stuff made of the skin of (prefferly) a whole bear), and to "go berserk" derives from "The Bearserker March". The Bearserkers was usually hyped on mushroms btw, there by the "Went Bearserk" as we say......
And yes, back to the point. The only "race" that are as small as dwarfs are pygmeys (or whatever they are called) and they are VERY far from the standard dwarf. I feel that they are mostly Siberian-ish, but somewhat tells me that they have stole alot from Norway and Schottland. Rather undefining really..

Stronghold: I'd say mongols? They wern't really slaves, but they sure was not organised. And then all the sudden a wise man thinks that they can form an army and take over the world.. Well, the story fits, "Tribes of the East" fits, the tents fits.. BUT, the people SURE dont fit at all! Mongols being swift cavalry archers...?

And by the way, the one who said "Fortress=Atlantis".. err.. Dont agree. Atlantis is rumoured to have been either within the mediteranian sea, or just outside the gap of gibraltar. They are rumoured to have had a higly dominating greek/roman culture and architecture, they were tall, slim, fast, smart, beautiful, they were HIGH ELVES!!! NOT DWARFS!!!... gaaah.......!



Now.. Lets comepare it to LOTR!!

Heaven = Gondor/Rohan. Gondors architecture, gondors armour, gondors archers, gondors priests, rohans horses, rohans peasants..

Sylvian = Lothloriel and Rivendel.

Dungedon = I'd say The elves of Mirkwood, they're not exactly evil (I mean, Legolas is their prince, and he is quite nice.. and handsome.. erhhm! I mean.. Dangerous..!!!), but they DO live inside a mountain

Inferno = Tough one.. I want to say Mordor.. And its QUITE true, althogh I'd aim more towards the good old chap Melgor (or Morgoth). I think he was more "Demonical" then Sauron.. Altough, Sauron is just a little puppy anyway ^^
But if you MIX stronghold and inferno, then you've got half the "Dark Alliance" meaning Mordor, Khand, and Rhun.. I'm not taking Harad, nor the black kossars, since they are not anything like the other 3..

Acadamy: Hmm... Isengard? : P No really, the whole wizard thing in LOTR are quite limited since there are VERY few that can actually preform any real sort of magic. There are the Ainurs (Sauron, Saruman, Gandalf), there are the Witchking of Agmar (zhe big boss of the wraiths.. although.. magic? well.. ok then..) and we may also take the highest of the elfs, like Galadriel, Celebord, Elrond, Arwen, and so fourth.. Some might say the Balrogs, but they are Ainurs that Morgoth twisted into the infernal Balrogs. Rather "magical" in presence, but has little magical abilities.. So no acadamy for LOTR.

Necromancers: Well.. The oathbreakers are undead.. but it was the power of Old Numenor that made them that way when they broak their oath... And thus, Minas Morgoul looks rather much like the necro town : ) and they are wraiths.. Some wicked mix here aswell..

Fortress: Dwarfs.. Woah.. Grand suprise! Khazâd 4ever!

heaven = empire, sylvian woodelfs, dungedon darkelfs, necro tombking and vampirecounts, stronghold orcs, fortress dwarfs, infe chaos, acaramy nope, no match.
