I'm finally done! It was a bit confusing at first but this town is a beauty once you get to understand its principles! A merging of classic ideas with a good part of innovation and while there are some parts about the history that are not so credible everything else makes sense. It would easily fit in the world of Ashan as both the necromancers and the dark elves came to be in much the same way. In gameplay they are quite interesting too due to an amazingly well designed hero and the new upgrade system. I have checked it and it is not unbalanced or hard to use, you just choose whether you wish some specific elementals in tier 2, 4 or 6(with scaled unit strength of course).
[In week 1 you can build the 4 dwellings, mage guild, town hall and the elemental guild so in week 2 you can go creeping with 2 lvl 2 units. Easily incorporated in town screen and creative though the resource costs make it hard to use. It will be hard to build all tier 5 and as a result tier 6(through the guild) so one might go for the phoenixes...The units lost through merging and the growth seem quite balanced.]
The hero and its subclasses have some fresh and easy to use ideas that provide with many tactical possibilities. Unfortunately H5 does not currently support subclasses which is a liability. The ultimate is easier to get with no 2% skills(for planeswalker and elementalist) and some of the new abilities sound familiar.
Final grade 81%
Maybe it was worth the dizziness reading the conflux gave me, good one guys! Something easier next time!
Edit: I forgot, the heroes and upgrade system receive bonuses.

There are some of us who need to use it in order to actually grasp it. If I could get hands on with it, I could probably understand it better.

I still think it is a bit more complex than necessary. Sure, it bring lots new element into game play, but it feel its more a new game itself, and divert it from the rest of factions. (like trying to put some Yugioh cards into a Magic deck)
But beside that, rest seem good, afterall, its work from Alc and Daystar, so "perfection" is a normal adjective to use in describing.
However, still feel 2 thing missing. One, the main dominating race feel is under-represented. Afterall, it seem they only show up as hero, and never a unit.
2ndly, lack of "satisfying" pictures for the units.
Two pictures I would recomand are those (thanks Guildwars Wiki)

Well, there were some choices we had to make. In order to have a coherent line-up, I personally felt it was necesary to have only elemental creatures. Then we could either go for elemental heroes, or for heroes of another race. I personally found the alliance of the races to be the most satisfactory solution - that was a similar approach as in heroes 3, and it went well with the history.
As for the creature images, yes, as always real life creeps up on you, and Daystar had misunderstood the deadline for the contest - so unfortunately, some projects were left unfinished. Considering, however, that layouts for Air, Water, Fire and Earth elementals are in the game, Sand Manifestation, Sand Elemental and Sand Spirit as well as Storm Manifestation, Storm Elemental and Storm Spirit are shown (also giving an impression of what to expect for the 4 basic Manifestations and Spirits) and Phoenix and Firebird are portrayed, I think actually the units are fairly well represented.

Sorry to be a dog picking at old bones, but as this is a Alc concept, I feel more comfortable in bashing it...
There is something that is just nagging at me as I was re-thinking about this faction. Unless I miss read something (which is very likely), the creature line up allow you to choose which element, in term, what type of unit they will be? Good concept of course, but I think its been in disscussion befoe(with you actually) that Homm tend to place a overpowering advantage to the Range attacking units.
I think you could guess what I am going to.... with the suggested system of creature creation, don't that mean you could have a whole army line up of all Range attacking units? (the Fire and Steam varity) This might be a bit overpowering with out some balance.
Well.. just to bring it up this issue. I am sure you already consider it and add a breaker in your concept, and that I just didn't read it.
oh, and I like Daystar's model.

Yes, that part is taken care of as well. [And yes, I don't blame you for not getting it all >< ]
The idea is that you can only have each kind of creature once. The type of Elemental Guild will determine which combination of elements you will make, and you will have to build a different type of guild on each of the three levels. This will ensure that all of the creatures are of different kind.

Just to check: am I misunderstanding, or is it possible to (without upgrading anything) have 13 different unit types? 4 manifestations, 4 elementals, 4 spirits, and the firebird...
And indeed 20 units overall, if some are upgraded and some aren't? (The above plus the phoenix and 1 advanced creature of each advanced element.)

Yes, that is true. Until you upgrade them, the total unit count will be 4 + 4 + 4 + 1, or 13. Or, counting both un-upgraded and upgraded, the total unit number will be 20 vs. the normal 14 for other cities. On full upgrade, however, the total number of units will be 7 like in other cities.

A really unique take on a faction, that made it a little hard to mark. The only faction to create three racial skills (bonus)!
Final mark: 71%, Very Good, joint 5th place
Favourite creature: Magma Spirit
`Personal` mark: Fair / Good, 6th place
Disclaimer: the final mark may change!
