New way to change the music theme in H5 - Guide

Some months ago somewhere here was a post, with a question for "How to change the game music without to remove the original music theme?" (I don't remember where), however some day ago I have searching for the way, and finally I know how!

This guide is for people who want change the music theme in the game without to remove (replace) the original music theme, so they can always take back the old, original music.

Heroes 5 use music files in the format ".ogg", the problem is that files in this format are not very popular, so you need create your oun ".ogg" file first, how?

You need just a .ogg converter, like this stuff, it convert ".mp3" files to ".ogg".

Try to convert this mp3 file to ".ogg".

Now go to your Heroes 5 directory, and open the "music" folder, and create new folder in it with costom name (your choice about name).

Open the new folder and copy your new ".ogg" music file.

Lets use the name "Robot" for our new dir, after this our new music, will be in:

"*Your mine Heroes 5 directory*/music/Robot/The_Robot_Army.ogg"

Now do in yout data folder (data, or dataa1), and go in:

/Sounds/_(Music)/

if you want to change music of the Campaigns, heroes, terrain, AI themes (the loadings black screens), battle themes, the creadits, dwellings, grail, lose or winn battle and capaign, main menu, and towns

(all files for that are in are in different folders, but you can easy see the names right? )

Lets change the music in the Maine Menu in HOF, open the "dataa1.pak" file, go to sounds "/Sounds/_(Music)/MainMenu/" and open the "a1-MainMenu.xdb" file, you'll see this:

The most important for our work here is "Line 3", we need just to replace the link to the original "heroes 5 main menu theme" directory with our own new folder link:

/music/Robot/The_Robot_Army.ogg"

after the editing the file will look like:

Now save the changes and everything is OK

Sweet

EDIT:
You can also use music files in mp3 format: just keep the filename as The_Robot_Army.mp3, and use this name in the .xdb file.

I know an easier way: replace the music with your music by overwriting.

".avi" and ".wmv" are video formats man

Well basicly you can use ".mp3" too but it's better to use ".ogg", because all other files are in ".ogg"

Ah yes, as a modding maniac, I modified the Haven2.xdb to point to the Haven.ogg file (instead of Haven2.ogg... why is it the same as Neutral battle?) even when only patch 1.1 was out

I know there is a tool that could open (and convert) sound files of any type.

It is called Audacity, and the program could be downloaded from here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Well i have a question. I want to modifiy the ingame battle music (because i'm tired of listening hundreds of times to the same Battle-Neutral.ogg on duels whatever faction i pick).

I know how to make a mod to change the music file, but i would like to make the game play a random song at the beginning from a collection, and others when the first one ends - just like a cd music with random play order and repeat all songs - not just the same file every time i play.

If that isnt possible whats the most similar thing i can do?

Thank u all guys.

easily, isn't possible.

the trick would be creating a tool which automatically modifies the xdb file containing song infos before starting game.

What annoys me about the music is that when you enter a town, the song always starts from the being, whereas on the adventure map it picks up where it left off. Does anyone have any idea how to change this?

I'm wondering if the FadeIn/FadeOut or MinPausedTime/MaxPausedTime numbers might make a change with the town music...
