woted for AoE+AoM
i like age of kings,pretty cool game,very proportional. thats a big + i like dawn of war(+ expansions) and of course warcraft and starcraft.

What part was boring?
The gameplay? Mabey it is not uber fast paced, but you are building whole civilizations, which takes time. It could be a lot slower.
The Campaign: The campagin was good, and like a real military campaign there were slow progressions into each area, not big, on scenario jumps. (In most cases) Plus, the dialogue was worth listening to, esspecially Amanra.

I'm too slow for RTSs, that's why TBS is the way to go for me. 
Anyways, Warcraft, since it's the one I've spent the most time with; I've also recently replayed Reign of Chaos, so I'm staffed with good impressions for now.

...easily the most fun to play ...no matter the civilization, the game was fun beyond words

I just thought the whole premise of Age of Mythology was done badly. I'm a fan of mythology so I thought it would be mad but it just let me down. I didn't think it was immersive at all... The god mode was good though (in Titans I think), but then for that you can play Black and White 
Just never got into it.
Is Black and White classed as an RTS? It kind of is. Has base building and controlling troops, just doesn't follow the mold of other RTS games. I guess. Black and White 2 was fun while it lasted, but there's not enough to do to keep me interested. There was a time when I was obsessed with it though
The best thing was creating your creature, which at the time was in the guiness book of records for having the most complex AI out of any computer game (made me get it) though the fighting is dodgy, there's only two types of units, archers and soldiers, which gets old.
Whereas Dawn of War... Squad based play gives rise to huge numbers of units without overcrowding (or overwhelming my small brain), and without sacrificing the graphics for horrible games like Rome: Total War (where the units have no legs). I like controlling loads of units, that's why I like Warhammer: Mark of Chaos.
I never played it before Winter Assault, so I dno, but I played Winter Assault for longer than any other online game (except maybe Guild Wars), and unlike ANY other online game, I was actually competitive lol. I could WIN MATCHES, something I'd never even dream of in H3 Me and a friend formed a clan and we would literally own, we had our own tactics and everything. Then the new expansion came out, with the new mad races and everything, but as everyone who experiences change to a game they were good at, the balances and patches rendered everything we knew about the game useless. When once I was deadly with Eldar they nerfed them to **** (at the risk of sounding like a disgruntled gamer that everyone hates).
When once if your teammate started the game playing as Orks, you would flame them to **** for being a noob and probably leave They then balanced it and then Orks owned.
All tactics went out the window and I couldn't keep up so I don't play so much anymore, competitively, though it's still fun.
Mark of Chaos was another game that I went through the phase of playing obsessively for 2-3 weeks and then crashing, burning and never playing again, just like Rise of Legends. Both awesome fun games but I exhausted them pretty quick, as I wasn't good enough to play online and RTS games aren't prized for their campaign.
It has a pretty fun setup though, don't have to bother with resources or basebuilding, more like a tabletop game, where you just focus on tactics and fighting. Of course I'm not too good at those things so I pretty much suck at that game. Graphics are best I've seen in an RTS.
Rise of Legends (pics a bit big) is another one of those games.
The units are original and just plain awesome. The three factions are a human industrial Da-Vinci based clockwork and steam faction, a desert based genie Sand/Fire/Glass magic faction, and a weird stone morphing ancient Mayan/Aztec type faction.
and yea I do like RTS games

MoC: rocked, then after closer inspection, sucks with some rocking bit in it

C&C all the way. And why would Tiberium Wars disappoint you? I love it And if you don't really like future stuff, play C&C Generals. The only future in there is the time(line) and the Particle Uplink Cannon (although there is a smaller versionof it...)

It doesn't really differentiate factions as it used to(mirror units, the nod has a heavy unit now, the gdi has a great defence turret now....and the units look less SF than in Tiberium Sun which is odd because it takes place after it), for exmaple generals zero hour which was released in 2003(4years earlier) I think it's better overall(except maybe for graphics)and has great faction diversity, Tiberium Wars in my opinion<<Tiberian Sun=Com&Con 1(Tiberium Dawn)=RA1=RA2=generals
to daystar - I think AoM +TT add-on were great, not quite like W3: Roc+TFT but great

Black and White needs to have a third sequel that takes the best of Black and White and Black and White 2. I agree that there needs to be more differentation between soldiers, but I think it would be good to have differentation in god powers. You have powers of water, fire, lightining, health, etc. I think a god should have to specialize in one area. (eg: Sea god= Water(*,**,***) Rain, Flood, Parch, Fish Multiply) (eg: Storm god= Lightning(*,**,***) Rain, Hail, Winds (*,**,***) Clouds) and things like that. the (*,**,***) is like a level thing.

That sounds awesome... the creators working on Fable 2 though.
There also needs something else to DO. You lay down a big city, start creating army, then what?
You wait.
And wait.
Until a battle where you either get annihilated or slaughter them...
I ended up just picking up boulders in my "region of power" and lobbing it into their city and seeing how much I could destroy

B&W and Total wars aren't RTSes atleast not fully.
Age of Generals<Ra2<Tiberium wars<Ra<Tiberian sun<Tiberian dawn
That's my opinion on C&C.Sole survivor and renegade aren't included since they aren't RTSes.
