I was introduced to this style of playing by zilo and strider who took part in the heroes league
, now i'm addicted
Map can be downloaded above, basically, configure hero of level 15 with arties, or 19 without arties, and fight it out in day 3
Better than duels, shorter than a full map game.

Yeah it's good fun. I had made a similar map myself and could not find an elegant solution with placing units for sylvan's avenger, the mine garrisson solves that problem. The tier 7 units beside the mines are unreacheable, I suppose it was intended?
One suggestion:
Since it doesn't really matter who reaches the arena first you could place the monolith instead of the gate to the underground near the towns. Saves some time.

Also what's with the seer's hut? It seems to give you the reward when you have almost exactly 70k and sometimes the second one refuses to give me the reward until the next day. When I have more than enough, say 36k.

U need to accept the 2 quests first before taking the pile of gold, then go to hut to complete quests,. For sylvan, they can't have level 7 as f.enemy.
And fortress is tamed down on magmas etc .. Msn me to play if u see me

Sure though it may take a week or two, exams aren't over I took a look at fortress and I guess it's ok for 4 magmas but 10 warlords too? (Though I have not used runes in a while with that bug and they may be just fine )

Haven seems to have the option to train as well so I'll check to see how much it costs and if it's worth the xp sacrifice.

As long as people dont try to report those game for Official TOH games.  That would totally ruin the integrity of the ranking system.

Kinda like if the government started printing paper money with no gold to back it.... the value of the dollar would mean nothing. Same will be for TOH ranking system if people start reporting games from a 3 day duel.

Well ofcourse ranking for normal games and for duels is stupid but i see no harm in a tourny of duel based on this map with its own reporting and ranking system  , Only question is how many others think its a good idea and will ves be up for it..

Well would have to have a pretty unique way of reporting... Cause as of now when reporting for all subtournies you report thru normal TOH reporting... And that is not good...to get TOH win/loss and points for such a duel style game?

Only way would be to report via e-mail to ves or someone who is running tourny... And then at end of tourny who ever the winner was, could say be awarded 50 TOH points etc... That would be cool.

There is a need for that maze in order NOT to trigger turnbase mode.

Yes, no favourite lvl 7 for sylvan.

All races have their specials enabled. For instance, necro can choose 2 packs of units that could be possibly raised during period of 4 (if i remember correctly) weeks.

As for reporting system... In www.heroesleague.ru they use this kind of reporting and tournament table:

Games are reported through special thread in forum where one player states what was done and second affirms. Later on admin enters the data into table.

As you can see, this kind of tournament requires fixed number of participants.

Tournamnet rules in short:

Opponents play 2 games with each starting one. Both players in order ban 3 factions. Then the starting competitor chooses faction that has not been banned. His rival does the same BUT cannot take a mirror faction (if not banned already).

After that the 1st guy pick hero followed by opponent's choice.

Example report in forum:

Strider HL bans: necro, dungeon, fortress

Sq79 haven Klaus wins Strider HL academy Jhora

Strider Hl bans: haven, sylvan, necro

If Sq79 reported this in forum then I just quote this and add AFFIRMATIVE.

As for map specifics furthermore:

Quest huts need to be taken before gold pile (if not then quest cannot be completed unless end turn). Necro must take also two sextants and exchange them for raised by necromancy troops in quest huts.

Players CANNOT must leave town and head toward center arena in day 1. Only Sylvan and Necro are granted additional day in order to collect their specials.

Sylvan is forbiden to acquire lvl 20 through clearing all mines - just take the one needed for favourite enemy.

First haven slot (red) is for renegade troops. Second haven slot (blue) is the real haven.

Conclusions:

This tournament is EXTREMELY popular in russian site and its quickness is a very good way to attract new people that can be taken to real online games later.

Also, TOH really needs SOME boost in activity and making this SUBTOURNAMENT is a very good way of achieving this uneasy mission.

Of course, Vesuvius needs to think likewise

Example is correct. Players ban races for oppoenents. Sq79 banned haven for Strider HL but still could play haven himself as Strider HL did not ban it.

Ahh well you shoulda said that the first time.  That SQ banned it from Strider.  Instead of just saying each players BAN 3 towns. That makes it sound like those towns are no longer available lol.

Nice to see that the infection with this one is spreading out! As for now, tourney on this map takes 100% of my HOMM time...

Just an addition to all comments above - it is not only fast&fun, but it is balanced very well, too (which is no easy task to do for such a duel-type map). Dudes who made the map even developed special calculator for troop quantities and did a lot of play-testing, so the outcome of the game is quite unpredictable almost always.

Not sure whether ToH can run such a tourney as goes on right now on Heroes League (where 17 players are playing everyone with everyone). But if there would be a ToH tourney on this map, i'm in for sure. Even more, I could make an English version of the map, if the ToH tourney would be on the agenda.

P.S.Thumbs up for the idea of Jinxer "winner of the subtourney gets 50 rankings points" or something like that.

Changes:

1.The arena is "Tribes of East-ready" - all creatures are NOT upgraded now. Accordingly amount of money is increased.

2.There is no underground labyrinth now - telereport leads directly from your castle to arena.

3.Arena has several terrain types available now (instead of grass only in older versions).

4.The rest of the chances concerns balance-polishing: Necro has been cut down fairly much; some reducements in the camps of Fortress and Academy (very minor) as well.

I know this isn't anyone here's fault, but out of curiousity, why can't the a.i. play on these maps?  I mean these are normal game functions...even if it can't do the seer quests, it should still come through the portal and fight me.

It's irrelevant because I can play them with other people, but it would still be fun to try out builds against a.i.

Guess, you are too scary for poor A.I. and he prefers to sit in his castle Basically, you can play against comp here only when the combat starts (by pressing autocombat button on one side)
