The artwork made for each game has to go through a special process. First it's hand drawn, then scanned, it get's altered a bit and printed out. The artist again work on the image withouth the computer's help. When it's done, it's get scanned again and get's some minor modifications. When it get's printed out again it's almost ready. The artist does some minor changes scans the image again and adds the colors using the PC.
So the cycle is:
Draw - scan - print - scan - print - scan - finished. At least that's how they did most of the art for HoMMV.

no theyre taller than regular swords.some thin scimitars i would say,throwing knife is size of small army knife.EDIT:actually they look like Katanas.
