Usually a combination of what you can find, more than a few good ways. Phoenix/dark/warmachines/pure destructive or a combination are all good.

but do you break asap at all costs or would you rather take your time and clear the key locations of your area?

yeah... pretty much what I try.
BUT: it does not add up.
My main takes this tour on week 1: Ore mine, Sulphur Mine, Mercury Mine, 2nd town, Gem Mine, Cristal Mine, Dwelling, Gold Mine. (If all goes well and there aren't any strong defenders.)
And from here, I go through the portal, try and clean up the level up tree and the artifact and then I have two choices: either the Arena and artifact bottom or the two artifacts top with the Artifact merchant.
From there is back to town, learn spells n stuff, try and take the relic near the main town, and then straight to the devils.
The problem is, even in a good case scenario this takes about 3 weeks to complete. So I'll be breaking week 4 day something...
Any other routes in mind?

true.
but a game on a map well known by both players can be finished much quicker.
Plus, I doubt a map made with RMG would ever be balanced.

nice fight indeed
the Deleb Vinrael fight was entertaining. I was impressed as to how much damamge inferno would cause with those new pitlords and imps.
Honestly though, those Arcane Archers are so deadly if not neutralized ASAP...they won it for Sylvan.
NIce fight guys.

Stronghold troops generally die fast when they are stripped of rage
One thing that game taught me is that when fighting against orcs, you need to focus all your forces on 1 stack, because rage absorbs A LOT of damage. If you attack a lot of different units, you'll just take some rage away from each of them not doing any damage to units themselves.
Btw, why is this thread dead? Come on people Share your battles

Yeah you can't keep the rage down for all of them
Had a game on rat race with Gmmari recently, Galib vs Rutger. Thought I'd try a destructive build but I was unlucky and never got warlock's luck. While I was lucky with artifacts(dragon teeth necklace, tome of enlightenment, phoenix cape, slippers) and spells(fireball, meteor, deep freeze, armageddon) my overall game was slow and far from ideal. Heck, I allowed haven to break first but then again academy rarely gets logistics so I was bound to be one step behind. Could not get the resources in the underground either(week 1) so building was a bit tight and mini artifacts few.
Eventually we had battle on week 5 and I barely won because of armageddon and my trusty obsidians Thankfully he had split his paladins but still surprising how good destructive can be with academy. With my maxed luck warlock's luck would be overkill even against all this army.
Btw he had ring of celerity, speed and staff.

Nicely done. When I first opened the replay i thought "wtf, he can't possibly win that".
However, I do believe that with correct play Haven should be able to win that. I was surprised he didn't attack your gargoyles ASAP after seeing armaggeddon, although I don't blame him, because at that point of the game it looked like he was winning no matter what

I was really surprised of your choise elvin but it's true that after first armageddon i should have to attack your gargs insted of lvl6.
It's truth what betruger say i was too sure to win and played the second part of the game not accurately.
Also moving my peasant in the middle was a mistake not letting my palas free to run
The choise of splitting palas i thing was correct because you could have taken dark magic(with puppet..so one stack can cure the other)
or cure your ignite like in the game and i can't imagine before the battle an armageddon so powerful
Congrats again elvin see you in the rematch

On the other hand if you did not attack them my magnetics would remain and they get healed by armageddon. Generally I favour splitting and you had more than enough to keep me occupied.
Btw that was the rematch, you had defeated me last time

Can't blame gmmari, the way the game is going, it looks like a sure win for haven.. but that's the beauty of tote, games that look like a sure loss can be turned around
