Just look at the top of any post...u see date and time when posted...and in the top left corner of this line, you see such a "personal" (post icon) smiley. Like in my post here, you see this icon: in the top left corner.

Well, I see the difference, my point was that I don't see any difference in what it signifies - they are so similar that a change (imo) would be rather pointless. If we were to change / introduce new smileys, I think it should be something significantly different from the old ones. Something like this for instance:
