We once said that about you some time ago...
I guess the reason we do it has something to do with mental psychology. I post what I've just witnessed, others see and comment / feel my grief. I feel better. The end.

Perhaps there should be a thing where for the first thread a person starts on the forum, they have to type in the numbers and letters in the box (do you know what I mean?)

Yeah, I had mentioned that in this thread already and also to Val.
You mean something like this:
This is used by Ticketmaster.com to stop pesky automated programs from causing trouble.

lol I don't believe this is a private insult or a hacker. I was on a forum a few days ago and they had a similar problem. It seems like that part of the year where the spam bots go crazy. I have seen it happen before.
It is just spam bots wanting people to look at their stuff, and if anyone is silly enough to click on the links then they are only harming themselves because it might be a virus or just something really disgusting.
But as long as we do not respond to the threads, and we just leave them for the moderators to delete or lock, then the problem will go away soon enough.

Honestly, I think the Mods should talk to Val about the ability to delete threads in other areas beside there own, as long as they have a screen shot or something to show why. If something like the Lesbian thing comes along again and the Mod doesn't check in for a couple weeks, it would be there for that whole time. Not a good thing.

Yes, but I think not everyone moderator goes and looks at threads in other forums, if that makes sense.
I guess some moderators prefer just searching stuff in the forums that they moderate, and not where other people moderate.
I hope that makes some sense.
But yes, it may be good if some moderators who post actively in many forums would be granted the ability to delete threads in other forums.
But then what would happen if the spam bots go away? They usually do and I haven't seen something like this since very early last year.

Then they would not have to delete would they? Oh and if I see something and see a mod I notify them (even if not a mod in that thread, at least somebody knows about it). If others did the same, at least somebody would know.

I notice that the viagra one is the most abundant and returns quite often. Also that it loves making Namus like polls.

Actually, every forum that I participate on is having these discussions at this moment in time due to the high volume of this stuff.
There was one theory that homeless people have been hired to sit in internet cafe's and spam. Authentication boxes don't help against the homeless. Feel free to quote that line lol.
It's one of the perils of the internet the same way viruses and hackers are.

@Phoenix - apparently companies do hire people to spam the forums, it seems some will do quite a lot if there's money to be had... and unfortunately, captchas and so forth don't stop these people, nothing does really except maybe very clever spam detection algorithms which automatically delete posts that look suspicious (maybe we should quiz new members on heroes before they can join ).

Elvin, these could be harmful especially for the younger people that are on here. Especially the pornography that has been made here. That can be harmful in a way.

Cleaned. Sorry for the delay, the add button has now been disabled so we shouldn't see any more spam. I shall leave the rest of it as it is, and whilst I'm here I'll ask, does anyone think a version for HoMM6 would be good? (With the best spam protection tools I can come up with of course...)

1) especially for the younger people that are on here So, how are you doing now ?
2) Especially the pornography Oh, did someone forget to mention that this "phenomenon" actually exsists ?
3) Especially the pornography that has been made here. That can be harmful in a way. Not unless you ( and this must be new to you, I guess ( see 2)* ) you dont use protection...or hit ESC.
4) Get of your high ( what is it ?... 16 ? ) lets make it 17, for the fun of it, year old teen horse. There are other ways of getting the the foot inside the mod squad, will !

Maybe if people simply had to post some symbolic 5 posts before getting the ability to create threads? It would also make one-question users ask their questions in the appropriate threads, not create other threads just to ask one thing (and to get redirected by Alc, Elvin or someone ).
