A philosophy forum.
Otherside takes care of a lot of stuff but I think the philosophic community would have much more flexability than having 2 or 3 chain threads like Is god real, ect.
Am I wrong, Ive been before, but I cant tell now. Who's with me?
The chicken was already an egg before it was a chicken. The egg came first, unless some greater creator made them all at once.

Out of curiosity who prevents the 'philosophic community' from making such threads right here? What kind of flexibility do you see hindered?

But why do we need it?
If the philosophy from the RL life, put the thread in the OSM.
If the philosophy is about Heroes 5, put the thread in the Temple/Altar.
If the philosophy about HC management, put the thread in the Tribunal.
etc.

Separate OSM and philosphy ?
I think it amy be a good idea to separate the philosphical ideas from RL-talk, what OSM really should be (Talking about the present, not the Arcane, the Future or the whatever)
One of these threads that certainly belong in this separate thread is "I gave up believing in God", which definately is situated in a wrong thread. "Dream Talk", "Abortion", and stuff like this (thing that involve any kind of moralty nedds such a forum.

And I was serious too, most threads that have good points and such end up to SPAMfests, some such as the "I gave up on believing in god" thread are almost free of it, but most are spammed.
Sorry, I don't think that is true. Have you even bothered to actually read most of the posts in the God thread? There may have been a few posts that were SPAM, but the majority of the thread was people making good posts.

Philosophy might be better called debate. as there are many things that lively and (hopefully) constructive debates could take place on. prehaps a dual forum

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. I cant fully explain it. Please just try it out and see the brilliant threads and posts people come up with. It could be a theology/philosophy forum. Where branches and branches of ideas/threads would just be filled with powerful things.
And I guess, in my meek opinion, that debates relating to philosophy and theology could be directed twoards this forum, but, not all debates. Like USA president, whats the best foods, ect... Not that kind of debates.

I get your point. Still I believe that it's the individual effort in creating such topics that is lacking, if people posted about them more would follow. If the forum was philosophical only maybe it would create more topics of this nature but are people really willing to have such conversations? Cause I don't see them.

The thing is that it is not that the effort to start threads is lacking, but the concentration to stay on-topic. I mean, somebody says something in the discussion, somebody else responds to that with some statement bordering between two different subjects, and then the subject changes. That's why there are really any Other Side thread created today will (if it does not die) end up being about one or some combination of 3 topics: the existence of God, economics, or Israel-Palestine. It seems that they are the only things we discuss these days.

Elvin I cant think of very many new philosophical threads at this present moment but I cant think of new ones for many of the forums like there is a vast abundance of them either. Like, 5% of the communities threads may be philosophical/god related. I think that would bump up to like 10% if there was a forum designated for trippy thinking, philosophy, and God(s)/Godess(es).

Which way is actualy up in the universe?
Did you know that east and west spiral? So depending on where you are related to the earth west could be left, or right.

Those ideas are from mere "I" in like 2 minutes. I would think I didnt cover all of them lol. Someone else is gonna say, ah', thats a place for a thread like this.
Anyways.
Then there are SERIOUS but spam like threads like this one asking rediculous questions that blow the mind and should be retained in this community.
Heres a question I want awnsers too, even though I have a vauge idea what the best awnser is. _Why, why dont humans just freaking use the same size things, the same color floors with the best material for the ecology, so everything would be simple, and everything would fit like lego's. Why. Marble, wood, paint, cement, geeze, just pick one and set a universal size. Would make everything, say, uniformitized and put together like 1 and 1.
Heres a question my Ethics teacher asked me like 4 years ago.. (me and the class, you know) He asked all of us to say ONE good reason why its OK to kill and eat animals. I'f I'm not mistaken he mentioned something about survival being the only one, however our bodies -according to my doctor and others- do not depend on any kind of meat. They say we need a source of protien, well there's peanuts, protien bars, shakes, ect.. I just ate like 48% of my daily protien in 3 minutes. In a candy bar like thing... Vanilla....
Anyways. thats all I got for now. I am gonna be more active from now on either way this goes, but I hope Val tests this forum out.

Theres a ton of movies for people like me that I dont even know about. We could talk about those "wierd movies" like (The one, matrix, dark city, you all can help me on this one.) And games.... Wierd games. We could discuss why Order vs Chaos are not as distinguished as Chaos vs (what was it called again??? good???) Good.
I mean order and chaos are like heads and tails, yet order has a devil like thing.

I'd be interested in some of the aforementioned, you could start the discussion even if Val does create a new forum. Or you could try it anyway as an experiment to see if that will spark a new life to the other side. Besides if a new forum is created these threads will have to be moved.

I like the basic idea, philosophy forum will be more then intriguing (at least for me, a philosopher  ). Subjects for philosophy threads... I have endless idea about them. But forum like this one has some disadvantages, especially as part of this community.
<Philosophy forum> (if you want insert a name here) may be too special for HC, not all members are competent, anyway this isnt the main problem, sice everyone can just discuss the threads and/or read them.
If we look at the other side of this problem, HC is not this type of community (I dont mean the members I mean the idea of this place) its Heroes of Might and Magic (the basic idea) and then some additional discussions about the RL, Spam and Other games
I can say that we can keep this <Philosophy forum> alive (someone mentioned the oppositional view). And I'm one of volunteer helpers here
However we can find more disadvantages and advantages. We already have the Monitor and the Tavern, but are they mess enough for this split? Is it needed?
