I found it useful when I needed some extra wood FAST. Other than that, it's fun but a waste of resources. Perhaps it plays a more important role later in the game. TNT, have you built any of those fancy units, such as Steam Giant? Are they worth it...?

My new island has a bunch of losers They only have a level 4 wood mine and a level 1 marble mine.
One thing I'm not sure about is if I need to start research from scratch. Like do I need to research well digging again to get the growth bonus.
I built the acadamy first thing. But I might not need it. I can also build all my other buildings including palace. I will probably get a tavern going as soon as the acadamy is done.

No, I don't think you have to start all over. It wouldn't make sense. But I've read that some features stack up, such as upkeep (not sure though).Quote:

See if workers in two academies make for shorter research time.

The academy is done and the reseachers stack. So to increase the number of researchers it will be much cheaper to upgrade the new one....assuming I have enough workers, which I don't yet.
It probably would be better to go straight for the tavern, unless it's a dangerous area, then a warehouse might be better.
Also, I will need a dock so I can send supplies between the two towns.

To start a colony you need five ships to carry all the stuff. The ships will be tied up for a while, so plan ahead. They need to get there first. But they are also tied up another couple hours (????) until the town is actually built.
You also have the option to send extra supplies with the ships, so plan ahead on that also.

New Eta server. I just signed up. I'm only 20 points behind the leader. But that still makes me 4819 out of 6000. Almost 1200 new players in maybe 5 minutes????

Huh I got raped by one other guy like 3 times but i have loads of stuff anyway... 17k gold, 50 of each precious and so on. Guess its not bad at all.
How do I change my town name btw?

EDIT: Did you get my message in the game mamga? I could trade some wine for wood. I made this beautiful mistake of creating slingers instead of upg my Town hall >< and I cant quit the building of slingers..

Well the game started quite fast but now it had slowed down immensly due to the slow research thingy, it takes days to think of new stuff to build and I'm really running low on wood eventhough I have 2 towns now and each one gets 115 wood an hour

Yeah... Some of the highest techs takes even a week or two to accomplish

im going for a nice little colony as well, it will be ready soon.
Im low on resources now though. i managed to raid someone and got something like 100 gold 200 wood and 15 of each luxury resource which is cool but costs more then its worth.
Its a very nice game. But needs Waaay more content, especially filler content like extra research and faster upgrading times with more reasonable costs later on. no fun playing it when it takes a whole year to get utopia and it doesnt do anything

Thanks, that was a great piece of advice. 
The game is becoming too slow. It's going to take me days to research some achievements; while some don't seem worth it, others are simply boring.
Are you guys in an alliance or something...? How big are your armies and fleets? I have 10 cargo ships, 10 war vessels and 10 level 3 units + a cook.

No alliance yet. But I'm "forcing" the deadbeats to donate wood.
Their usual responce is "wtf, why are you attacking me?".
I explain that someone who has a level 7 town and 115 workers at the mill and hasn't donated anything needs a friendly reminder.
So far all of them have started donating and become friendly and even asked for alliances. It's quite effective.

I have virtually no army though. And i sell stuff for cheaper then the economy sells back other stuff to me.

I think this game is really fun, i got 2 towns but im rather broke
PsI: im in epsilon 69:56 and 67:59 Osparta and Oscaropolis
PsII: Cant some1 (like tntaddict) write a list about HCs that play ikariam (world, towns lokations etc)

Guys. Watch out for a player (long name Masahma..something...) with a town named AAA, hes a real jerk, he forced me to contribute with wood to the vineyard and the sawmill, even that I did it anyway and before the forcement. And meant I didnt contribute it at all! So he attacks me every time no matter what. And I asked a negbhouring town to help me out, he shut that arsehole up but then I got message from the AAA guy and stated that I were dirty to ask his friends for protection. And I didnt know that the guy with town Necropolis were a friend with such a meneho. So i decided to just end this game and delete my account 
When it aint possible to reason with jerks, theres no much point for me to continiue.
So stick together out there against the greedy "wannabe emperor" jerks...
