It's more complicated than that. Yes, we're all just chemical reactions, but we have the illusion of free will. And if we pretend to make a choice, it's just like if we had free will. Our choices are predetermined, but if we just give up and say whatever will happen will happen, that's predetermined. But if we say, let's live normally and pretend we have free will, that's predetermined too. But we have a working illusion of choice. It seems to us that we choose, though we really don't. But it makes no difference.

So everybody this thread has been a great idea and if this would be handled probably it will turn out informative and interesting so please refrain from any futher off-topic discussion.

I don't think penalties can be given since what I've considered to be "penalty worthy" is just ignorance and stupidity... but ok I don't know what you had in mind.

There would not be any god if there was no religion.
People believing the Sun & the mood we're gods back in the days.
Egyptians thinking Ka was a form of a man.
It goes on & on but basically Religion is a personal & easily effective to certain members.

Well you're not wrong but I don't see how that is an argument for not representing religions. How is what GL did done anywhere else on this board? Ok I said "religion isn't being discussed"... to be more exact: The religions themselves haven't yet been represented in a inpartial way without comparing themselves to any other faith. The idea of this thread was to learn about other religions not to discuss them.

Throw out -QP every time someone has something to say on a hot topic and then no one will reply. Some are taking humor on here as being disrespectful. However if we were talking UFC and I said BJ Penn kicks *** and Joe Blow states no he likes the Iceman, and then it would be fun bantering back and forth.
But throw Jesus (a man just like anyone else, like the pope or ACU) under the bus or make a comment on religion and watch out. Jesus was supposedly a man and God, well a image that we want to believe in. They hold no real value in our lives unless you worship them. Which is fine, but we are allowed to think what we want about you worshipping them?
If you wish to live according to the Bible that is wonderful, there are some great ideas in there, but don't freak out when someone in humor or otherwise makes a comment. We are certainly not going to start giving -QP for difference of opinions on what some call, stupidity.

How does the fact that Jesus was a man like anyone else change the fact that you can show respect for people beliveing in him ? It is completly irrelevant who the person is aslong as people belive in him/it/her/whatsoever everybody can atleast show respect. Of course you are entiteled to your opinion that's not the point! This is about how you show your opinion. People can do that in a intelligent and respectful way or they can do it in an disrespectful way which only shows their inability to accept other opinions/to express themselfs probably/ignorance. Oh AZ you are right about one thing this is tirersum: If you read the thread above the one you find offesive to Christians you will see that my Scum comment was taken from Omega: who stated that is what the preacher would say to them. I find THAT offensive, and was making light about what it would be like to have a serman in that particular church.
But because this site is so diverse and there are so many laungage barriors I will have to break everything down more. **thumbs through book to get exact way to recact to something with humour and then does so according to AZ or anyone else that is up my *** about it****.
Putting down all Christians??? I'am sorry I have reread my post and see no where that states I'm putting down Christains at all just stating how I feel about religion in general. So wow get off the crack pipe dude and chill...

All I can see is this thread got destroyed by some people and there is little hope for getting it fixed.
Besides, why people who know that they will destroy others' civilized conversation even post here? If this was in RL, you'd undergo serious repercusions, for instance you'd get thrown out of local, or even worse, but it can't be done here - author can't throw people out of his thread. Also mods seem to be very :ahem: tolerant regarding such behaviour, and that is not easily acceptable.

No, people start wars. Yes they use religion as an excuse, but they use race, land, and just about any other excuse also. Does it make it right? No. Religion is not to blame, people are. As long as there are idiots, there will be wars. The actual religion has nothing to do with it.

Well said. Without religion, atheists could possibly become agressive towards remaining spiritual people, or even agnostics . Or even among themselves, because "we are the only true atheists!".

If you're lacking the maturity to post in a civilized manner, please refrain from posting at all in this or any thread dealing with sensitive topics.
This is beyond ridiculous now - making childish threats and resorting to name calling... its pathetic.
If handing out penalties is the only way to make you people understand that belittling each other and making not-so -well diguised attacks on each others' beliefs is not accepted here - then expect that the penalties will soon follow.
I'd rather not have to resort to that though, and would much prefer that those of you who have nothing to add but hate and prejusdice just simply stop posting here.
