Religion and politics are two number one reasons why war is carried out. So excuse or not if it was not organized religion with conditions (even though we should love unconditionally) or politics with your left and right, then the reason for war would become less. Sure we would still have war and yes we find excuses for all violence. But we are animals at heart and this is just part of our makeup.

Look at abortion clinic protests. "God wants you to keep your baby" "God will punish you and you will burn in hell" (what a kind, loving God we have).  The sea of posters that will parade a women while she chooses to have an abortion are mostly all religion based. It is murder in the eyes of whom? The eyes of the "Lord". It is like they can't even speak for themselves but have to convey their own thoughts on behalf of "GOD" and religion.

Religion may have helped several people find peace in their lives and even change who they are, this I agree with. On the other side it is my thought that it has tore apart more families, free will, and corrupted the minds of the young and old as much as it has helped. So I guess for me why sink yourself into something that may destroy your core and cause you to fear the unknown?

Yes Mytical people are the reasons.
You can not control what the heart thinks.
The heart has it's own emotions without right & wrong & people really believe that thier religion is true.
It is like your own children.
Someone does something or says something to your child, you will get offended.
Someone laid a hand on your child then you will do more then that.
Thats how sensetive Religion is.
It does lead to wars & the such because of your feelings & love.

Who said you have to fear of the unknown?
I'm not afraid of it. I don't think that anybody tells you to afraid of God or to afraid the unknown. It's the person's choise. Personally, I don't think that god is following me and judges me for every action that I do. I think that the god judges me generally, for who I in the long term. One bad action won't send to me hell (I don't believe in the hells existence). Everyone can change at any point of their lives. I'm not talking about becoming religious - I'm taking about becoming better persons in their own view. When someone needs to change, s/he knows it better than anyone else. Late is better than never.

What I'm trying to say is that being religious doesn't make you automatically someone who lives in fear, who's afraid to live the life... These are all prejudices.

But many Christians like to describe themselves as "God-fearing". And while fear of the unknown is a natural human fear that goes beyond religion, religion creates more "unknown" to be feared.

IMO, the problem is that religion and politics are very much the same in some senses nowadays. They shouldn't be mixed up.

People tend to get too caught up in sooo many things.  Some get caught up in how their 'race' is "The best/most awesome, and should be the rulers of everything/everyone." Some get caught up in the search for wealth, others caught up in "There must be a logical reason for everything." they take it too far.

Religion is another thing that people can get too caught up in, I agree.  It's the people who get caught up though, that causes the issues, not the religion itself.  I've went on a spiritual journey for quite some time.

Trying to figure out exactly what I believe, and why.  I've studied more then a few religions, and even the posibility that there is nothing else (ie atheism).  With the exception of maybe Satanism and similar, I have never come accross any religion that actually condones killing those who have a different religion.

Now there are sects within those religions that believe it does, but the actual religions do not.  Take christianity and the crusades.
A person 'in power' convinced people that a few passages meant that all non-believers should be wiped out.  It wasn't the case, but they made people believe it was.  That was not the religions fault, but a person's (or group's) fault.

Religion does not have to be a bad word, nor do people have to let a few bad apples ruin everything.  Like anything in life, there are the good ones and the bad ones.  Reconizing the difference is the key.

*yawns*

which God thread is it anyway? Why don't you guys just listen to Aculias and stop discussing it in every possible place

the only thing that bothers me is that the hypocrisy. I mean, if I made fun of gay people & bash them, I'd get a -QP and get flamed by the whole forum. If I made fun of left-handers, I'd get penalized and criticized for my lack of taste. But if I made fun of christians or Jesus, I would not be penalized and what's more I'd actually seem funny and so-modern for the part of the forum. Enlightened and all that stuff.

Wtf?

If you make fun of other people's habits, customs and beliefs, why do you really restrict yourself, or pathetically try to defend some groups? Laugh at everything. You won't be a hypocrite, at least. Laugh at gay people's desperate attempts to make male butt-screwing a philosophy and a way to live. Laugh at emo guys and their dramatic way of thinking. Laugh at metallica fans and their cult of old, hairy grandpas growling around. Laugh at christians and their irrational "Jesus". Laugh at everything. Be cool!

-_-

Actually Gallow, I'm well aware of how to do my job.

I gave a warning to all that I would not tolerate anymore of your personal fights, name calling and nonsense. Your post following that warning began with

Quote:
HAHA this is so funny man,you know i dealed with bastards like you before,so you only dont talk bull**** also you talk lies

Now if you still are unable to understand why I gave a penalty, let me remind you of the CoC

Quote:
1) NO insults, abuse, racism or sexism.
Insult is a remark that undermines another person.

I would qualify calling someone a bastard, who talks lies as being an insult as well as undermining another person.

Quote:
2) NO bad language, profanity, vulgarity or swearing.
Censored vulgar words may be implied, but only for non-insulting purposes.

Saying someone talks bull**** as you did would qualify as as using the censored bad word as an insult.

Quote:
6) NO provocation or aggravaion.
Provocation is unfriendly behavior that causes anger or resentment from others. Aggravation is causing, continuing or increasing irritation or trouble. This includes being a detriment to the peacekeeping of the forums.

You're guilty of this as well. Even after I gave a warning, you responded with the intent of continuing to argue and further disrupt the thread.

I really don't think I can be more clear than that.

If any of this comes as a surprise to you, I would suggest that you familiarize yourself with the boards code of conduct.

Edit: Recieved this HCM from Gallow

Learn how to do your job pandora, clearly you didnt used names to who was the warning, and remove the penalty right now because that was unfair i was debating with BIXIE and not the other guy,ok read was with BIXIE so remove the penalty right now or i will talk with the admin.

I'll reply to this right here.

No, I will not remove the penalty. The warning was to everyone, why you would think that I would warn some people, but leave you or anyone else exempt is beyond me.

You are more than welcome to speak with Valeriy if you so choose - but if you continue to send me HCM's with silly threats - and continue to accuse me of not knowing how to do my job, I will have no choice but to see that as further insult and provocation.

VF: [packing her bags and cracking her knuckles] "Let me take care of your light work Panda, I enjoy turning little boys lives upside down"!

Pandora:[grinning with a cup of java] "You do that, I will get back on HC and continue doing my job, thanks'!
