OOC: I don't have a lot of time so I might post more a bit later...

BIC: Kaļ looked around. He still couldn't believe it: he finally made it to the Tchaida hideout. He didn't waste too much gazing at the fort, though. He took Del and the remaining troops to the keep, where the administration and the leader of the Tchaida would be hiding.

OOC: I'm not sure yet, but I think this is gonna be a long post, it will include a theory I got about how the undead society works(somehow). I told you this to explain what you're gonna read.

IC: Naxxarus walked out out the fortress and looked after the escaping elfs and human, soon Marlak came out as well and said "What are you standing here for? Aren't you gonna shoot them down, or something?!" Naxxarus looked at Marlak, then he looked back at the elfs raised, his hands, and casted the spell which made Lightning strike down. The Lightning would have hitted the elven ranger, if he didn't hold the artifact which deflected the lightning and made it kill several of the dark elfs around him. "See?" Naxxarus said "There's no point in trying to stopp them Marlak, let's face it, we lost this round...and the artifact." Naxxarus couldn't help laughing and Marlak looked at him like he had gone mad, Naxxarus said "This war just became alot more intresting." before he telepatical told his liches and commanders "Capture the remaining elfs and humans. After that, gather the corpses of anyone who died and raise them as undeads, we're regrouping." Marlak turned against Naxxarus and said "Aren't you gonna give the order to follow the elfs?! We must get back the artifact!" Naxxarus answered "We cannot win a battle as long they got the artifact, but don't worry, I got a plan..." Naxxarus used magic to teleport the dark elf corpses that had been struck down by the lightning to his own tent before continuing "Marlak, what do you know about Ressurection?"

Evening, one of Naxxarus liches had found some many eyed beast under the fortress and one of the titans had stopped it to death, now it was a part of Naxxarus army. Naxxarus stood right outside his tent and looked up in the air while planning his next move. Marlak came walking to Naxxarus and was about to start talking, then the voice "DWARFS! There is an army of dwarfs over there!" was heard. Naxxarus couldn't believe his own ears "What?! Where?!" He asked his commanders "They're marching right pass us, but a company of bear riders and thanes are coming this way.

Soon after the dwarfs was before Naxxaurs tent and Naxxarus said "What is the meaning of this?! Why are you dwarfs hear, so long from home?" One of the bear riders rode fourth and said "It seems Maarn have lost faith in you, he asked us dwarfs to track down an artifact, that you lost...and we aren't that long from home, there is an dwarven city just a daymarch away from here." Naxxarus looked at the dwarf and heard the chuckling from Marlak behind him, the vampire was obiously enjoying the conversation "So Maarn sent you dwarfs to assist us? How very nice of him." Naxxarus said trying to sound like the dwarfs was just common reinforcements "No, we are not here to assist you, we are here to get the artifact, the only reason we actually came in to this camp was to drop of these guys." The dwarfs pointed at a group of wrights who was there "They're your problem now, goodbye." Then the dwarfs left.

Naxxarus turned to the wrights but before he got to say anything a white cloaked wright came fourth and said "Your not gonna be able to talk you out of this one Naxxarus." The man was like the other wrights, a spirit, but this was a lich, vampire or necromancer spirit he talked to "I'm taking over the command here, Maarn can no longer entrust this mission to Vampires and Liches like the two of you. Naxxarus heard the chuckling from Marlak stopp "What!?" Marlak said "You can't do this to us, we are trusted by Maarn, he would never take the command over this army away from us! You don't even got a name, how can you order us to give away our command?" The wright looked at Marlak and said "Ohh, how rude of me, I forgot to present myself, I am Wrylkar, I'm sure you have heard of me." both Naxxarus and Marlak dropped "Well, I guess that settles it then" Naxxarus said "It was nice to be a commander over this army, but it seems we are gonna become a head shorter now Marlak." The Wrylkar interupted "Ohh no, we are not here to behead you, it's just that your time as supreme commanders over this army is over. I am taking charge here, and you are getting demoted." Naxxarus looked at the wright "Well, then I guess I'm second in..." Wrylkar said "I already got a right hand mand and second in command, your getting demoted to what's under that again." Naxxarus sighed "Okay, I'll need time to let this sink in, if you need me I'm in my tent...S-sir." the last word had to be spitten out before Naxxarus could retire to his tent, Marlak seemed to have the same problem and followed Naxxarus in.

Some time later Marlak looked at Naxxarus and said "About what we talked about earlier..." Naxxarus asked "About ressurection you mean?"  Marlak answered "Yes, it's a spell which heals the body of the target and forces their soul back into their body so they come back to life, right?" Naxxaurs looked at Marlak "Right." Marlak then asked "What about it?" Naxxarus waited a short movement before he looked at the coffins he had in the room "Those coffins are magicaly enchanted, they will slowly heals the body of whatever placed inside of them. Right now the dark elf corpses are inside those coffins." Marlak looked at Naxxarus and said "What kind of plan have your genius mind hatched now, huh?" Naxxarus picked up some bottles "These bottles are also magicaly enchanted, they are able to catch souls and make them easy to manipulate. The dark elf souls are inside these and I manipulated them so the dark elfs will follow any order I give them. But exept for that they will act normaly." Marlak looked at Naxxarus curious to find out what he have planned "As you know we need that artifact, but we cannot get it if we go openly out in combat against the humans. So I'm gonna use these dark elfs as infiltrators, or "moles" to get both information about the humans and the artifact." Naxxarus used magic to open the three coffins, revaling the dark elf corpses, then he casted an invisbility spell on them "There is no point in doing this if they can't even get out of this camp." Naxxarus then opened the bottles and casted the spell which leaded the souls back to their original bodies "Stand up!" Naxxarus ordered, and heard the noice from the dark elf who standed up "I am Naxxarus, but you probaly already know that, you all must follow whatever order I give you, but you already know that, right? I have a mission for you, and you are all gonna do it, or die trying." Naxxarus waited a movement before he contiuned "The mission is simple, your old allies managed to get the artifact before I did and you are gonna go back to them, infiltrate them, give me information and when I order it, steal it back. Whenever you want to call me, just think my name in your head, it's N-a-x-x-a-r-u-s, remember that, now go!" Naxxarus the heard some noice as the dark elf walked out of the tent, but that noice was very little "Seems they remember how to sneak around" Marlak said "They remember everything from their past life my friend" Naxxarus said.

OOC: Yes, that psot was long and confusing. I really need to learn how to write in a not so confusing matter. Anyway, I sent three dark elf infiltrators to winterfate and/or/mabye the guy who controls Kaļ who has such a hard name to remember.

Kai:

As you go toward the keep, the hiding place of the Tchaida's leader, three of Vayrath's - now yours - Dark Elf assassins reach you. "Sir! We were trapped behind falling rubble during the battle, but we escaped afterwards. We tracked you down to this place. We're happy to have found you. At your service," says one of them.

Naxxarus:

The wight commander calls for you and Marlak to come out of the tent so he can demote you.

Kaļ looked surprised at the three dark elves. Where did they come from? How did they get so close to the Tchaida camp? I understood that I could use every man who wants to join, but just hiring ppl from a generally hostile race is plain idiocy. I decided that it was about time that I used my new lieutenant. "Very well, report to Siladroth. He'll decide whether you guys are okay. Tom, Yves and Duncan will escort you towards him." He said diplomatically. The elves followed the three veteran knights who normally escort Del. Del raised an eyebrow. Kaļ responded: "You can never be sure...", "Yea, so why sending my men with them?" Del asked. Kaļ raised his shoulders and stepped onward to the keep. The guard let them in without question. (the paladin outfits probably made sure of that)

Inside the keep, there were a lot of people. Three were very remarkable. A heavy-armored, big, strong orc leader was the most outstanding. He seemed to have a high rank in here. The other was a Djinn. Kaļ enjoyed seeing the spirit-like being. It was so long ago since he had seen a friendly mage or spirit. The third was a dwarf wielding a big hammer. He stood out 'cuz he was small

Every great faction of Ashan that wasn't purely bent on destruction was here... There weren't so many people here actually, but, still, if they would follow the inquisition, Kaļ's army would've at least tripled in size. Kaļ and Del went to the big, square table in the center of the romm and introduced himself: "Hello, my name is Kaļ. I'm here to provide an iron hand with which to rise up against Maarn." The entire room went quiet. The dwarf covered a smirk on his face. The orc raised an eyebrow. The djinn didn't reveal any emotion.

OOC: back to you enamelity OR meet up with me, winter. In two days either I or ename will post the reply...

The weakened party of dark elf and human soldiers retreated to relative safety to Kai's last known position. Once there, the Squire Kemdil had spoken to before (the one that did the shield bash to one of his comrades) addressed the rest of the group:

"The Ranger is unconscious, and with him goes the last of our magic capabilities...unless one of you dark elves..."

The dark elf soldiers nod negatively to the question about to be asked, as the Squire then says:

"Well, we need to get to the Tchaida base as soon as possible. I'm sure that the Undead are swarming around in this area, especially since we have the artifact in our possession."

One of the dark elf soldiers replies:

"That won't be a problem..."

The dark elf soldier chants something and turns invisible. He then grabs the artifact and heads to the Tchaida base, taking the most direct route. The Squire then says:

"Well, that's done. But, how about us?"

The Squire looks around and then spies a route through a forest that seems to be infrequently traveled and says:

"How about through there?"

One of the dark elves replies:

"Whatever. Let's just get out of this Undead infested area."

The group travels for several hours through the forest, evading Undead patrols throughout the trajectory. It is nighttime by the time the group reaches the end of the forest. They arrive at an area not far removed from the Tchaida base. The Squire remarks:

"We're getting closer! Let's move on!"

The group, morale bolstered by their proximity to the base, march quicker than they had before. They reach the base one hour or so later.

The guard stops them at the gate, and glares at the dark elves in the party...

OOC: I'll leave it here for now.
(Oh, and Kemdil is still unconscious. )

Naxxarus looked down at the elfs and humans who had reached the Tchaida base, he really dind't like the idea that Wrylkar had ordered him to posses one of the three bone dragons the Wight had brought with him, "It's a waste of value soldiers to send them on a simpel scout mission." Naxxarus though, also, Naxxarus didn't like that the wight had brought with him three land walking lizard looking bone dragons "Why so many" he though. "Return to the base, they don't have the artifact and it's to risky to try and attack them right out side the Tchaida base, but atleast we know where they are now." Naxxarus said to the bone dragons, that turned around and returned. Naxxarus could see the army of dwarfs around 1 mil away from the Tchaida base, mabye he could talk to them.

When the bone dragons landed in the dwarven army and one of them wanted to talk with the leader of the army, the dwarfs got surprised. When Naxxarus met Ordom, the dwarven general he told them about the base and the artifact, the dwarven general looked eager to start the siege.

Sometime later the bone dragons came to the marching undead army, there Naxxarus returned to his own body and gave the report, the dragons kept flying above the army. "We'll reach it pretty soon, better to let the dark elf spies get some trust before ordering the stealing of the artifact. I think I'll give the order when the battle starts." Naxxarus though.

OOC: enameilty, I'll leave it to you whether the undead spies are allowed in by Siladroth.

BIC: The dwarf stepped forward: "Nice to meet you, Kaļ. We be hopin' ya be joinin' us. Ya see, humans don't tend ta last long, but I'm kinda sure tha you'll last." Kaļ was kinda surprised when heard this light threat in the words of the dwarf. "Don't worry 'bout it, paladin, Ghettan always tend to exaggerate things. I'm Khul-Thizr. I'm the heavy infantry commander and that little witch over there is Helven. She hates my guts or at least considers me much lesser since she never dignified me with an answer.

Kaļ repeated the names a few times in his head so he wouldn't forget them. "Nice to meet you all. What actually happened to the other leader?" Kaļ asked. "The brave fool... Grimnox tried to recapture the nearby dwarven fortress. He failed, off course, and killed 70% of our own army along with him. We have like a thousand men left at most." the dwarf said with a disappointed look in his face. Kaļ would've been glad with this army, but now he realised that wasn't enough to beat Naxxarus's army that still was twice as large.

The djinn looked at Kaļ and spoke. She had a very disturbing, yet soothing voice: "The forces of the dead can never hope to equal those of the living. Don't worry, old knight, your quest will not end here, yet." Kaļ looked surprised. Kul-Thzir reacted heavily: "Helven! We fought together for two years and never spoke to me, but just some random guy immediately has your undivided attention? It's because I'm black, isn't it?"

Kaļ just went outside with Ghetta, the dwarven warrior. Together they inspected the troops. "You know, I actually like Kul-Thzir.", Ghetta said when they inspected the heavy-armored troops. They were orc and human... Mixed races fighting as one... Kaļ respected Kul-thzir that he was able to do that...

Kemdil:

The guard growls gruffly, "What is your business here?"

Naxxarus:

The wight commander calls you to his tent. "Give your troops the order to attack tomorrow at sunrise. The sun is behind us; our enemy will be blinded." You know that if you attack now, your spies will have no chance of stealing the artifact.

Kai:

As you and Ghetta inspect the troops, Kul-Thzir arrives. "Come. I have a new, experimental regiment of soldiers I would like to show you," he says. He leads you and Ghettan to a full regiment of half-orcs glistening with magical energy. "The magic of my ancestors' blood created these warriors, orcs infused with humanity bolstered my magical energy. They have the strength and cunning of orcs, and the speed and adaptability of humans," he proclaims proudly.

As Kemdil is still unconscious, the Squire speaks on behalf of the party:

"My name is Galai, and I am from Kai's group. I assume he's already here?"

The guard nods and asks, in the same gruff voice:

"What happened to him?"

He points at Kemdil. Galai answers:

"Long story short, he used the powers of the Artifact and..."

The guard flinches as he hears about the Artifact. He moves aside and lets the group inside without any further questioning.

Meanwhile,

Siladroth is checking out the 3 new recruits. He says:

"There's something about you 3 that doesn't just feel right..."

One of them asks:

"What do you mean, sir?"

Siladroth shakes his head and replies:

"Never mind. Must be my imagination..."

As he sends off the three new recruits to their appointed duties, he then says, seemingly to no one:

"You know...you could turn visible. I can sense where you are."

The carrier of the Artifact turns visible and begs pardon for his stealth. He hands over the artifact to Siladroth, who then asks:

"Where's the rest of the group?"

In response to the question, Siladroth sees an unconscious Kemdil and the remaining dark elf and human soldiers enter the base proper.

Siladroth heads over to see what's wrong with Kemdil.

Kaļ looks at the half-orc. He is a little disappointed at Kul-Thzir. This isn't what Elrath wanted, but, just as well. They're not a part of Elrath. The wizards created them, first. If they wanna fight back at their best, then who was he to stop them? He looked at Kul-Thzir and said: "I can't say I approve of this, but as long as everything happened voluntarily, I will not oppose you for it."

Del walked in, covering his disgust. "Sir, the dark elves have arrived.", he said. "Very well, then let's meet up with them.", Kaļ responded and went to see the elves along with some of the knights.

Wrylkar read it before he said "Well, that was unfortunate, Naxxarus, how long will it be before the dwarf reaches the fortress?" Naxxarus said "About five hours, i guess how about it?" Wrylkar then said "Well, seems they will have to manage for some time without us, we'll have to go and rescue some undead companions and get our war machines, seems like they have been attack by some undead named Kirandar..."

Kaļ walked to the party of Dark elves. Siladroth was there. he pointed to the tent and said that Kemdil was resting. Kaļ nodded. He looked around and saw all the commanders here. There was the grim, cynical warlock, Siladroth, a cheery dwarf, Ghetta, his trusted old friend and swashbuckler, Del, and the grumpy, aggressive orc, Kul-Thzir. Kaļ turned to Siladroth. "Do you have it?", Kaļ asked quite bluntly. Siladroth nodded and from underneath his cloak he grabbed the old, dented shield and the artifact... He hesitated a bit... And then finally handed the artifact to Kaļ.

Kaļ tied it to his belt. He then made an anouncement: "Gentlemen, I say we take the dwarven stronghold at Stormbress." By hearing this, everyone acted surprised and shocked. Helven, the djinn, appeared out of nowhere with her mages. "You got to be kidding!", she shouted. kul-Thzir reacted with a lot of enthusiasm. Del and Siladroth reacted quite neutral. Ghetta shaked his head and Helven immediately gave notice of what she thought. Kaļ looked around. He turned to Helven and said: "Well, what do you suggest we do, genie?" She regained her calm in a split second and suggested: "We could take a foothold, here and kill that bastard naxxarus." kaļ had no idea of whom she talked about, but he understood what she meant.

He then said: "vote?" Me, Kul-Thzir and Siladroth voted yes. Helven and Ghetta voted no, along with Del (later, he told me that defense made more sense against those undead legions). It was a tie...

We agreed that Kemdil would get the final vote...

So we send some more priests to his tent... If that insane undead commander would besiege us in here, we would take a defeat like no other... At least, if we didn't have some plans or defensive strategies...

OOC: i would appreciate it, if B-E-T-A went after Kirandar, first... And winter is allowed to give shape to what we do, now... Either is fine with me

Kemdil woke up with a start. He found himself surrounded by priests, but didn't care at the moment. He had just had the wildest dream...

He dreamed that a beautiful elf maiden had come to him. She told him about the scattered Sylvan forces around the land. They needed a leader. The Artifact had chosen him as their new leader. He just had to find them.

"Are you well?", asked one of the priests.

Kemdil snapped out of his daze and nodded to the priest, answering:

"Yes, thank you. Where am I?"

The priest declares, with a hint of pride:

"You are at the base of the Tchaida!"

Kemdil grins and says to himself:

"We made it..."

Kemdil walks out of the tent a few minutes later to see everyone together, trying to decide on the best course of action. He is quickly debriefed by Siladroth, who then asks:

"What do we do, then? It's your call."

Kemdil then tells everyone about his dream. He then answers:

"If we attack that Dwarven fortress, we risk losing this base. We need to hold the line here before we press on."

OOC: So...I vote that we stay and fight!

As Kemdil remembers more of his dream, he feels confused. What did the maiden mean by the homeland? She couldn't have meant his birthplace of Erathia, since that place was since lost to the abyss. Perhaps Axeoth? Or maybe she meant the Sylvan homeland of Irollan...

Kemdil remained in thought for a long while before Siladroth snapped him out of it:

"What are you thinking about?", he asked.

Kemdil nodded off the question with a simple "Nothing".
Afterwards, he was to find out that Vayrath had stayed behind to hold off the undead masses. Kemdil snapped and quickly ran up to one of the dark elf soldiers that had carried him to the base, saying:

"Why did you leave him there?!"

The soldier replied:

"He ordered us to..."

Far from being appeased by this answer, Kemdil grows more enraged and yells out, with no regard to those around him:

"YOU SHOULD'VE DISOBEYED HIS ORDER!"

The soldier slaps Kemdil forcefully, knocking him back (he was still rather weak from his ordeal) and said:

"Silence yourself! You know nothing of our ways. Honor and loyalty above all else."

Kemdil fumed, but knew better to get into an argument with someone who had such firmly rooted beliefs. He then fetched some bread and water and started eating.

Kaļ saw that Siladroth took the lead very well. Though, Kaļ damn well regretted the fact that the honourable vayrath had perished. After he saw Kemdil go and get some bread and water, he ordered the soldiers around. Yes, kaļ was in his own element, commanding around troops, devising strategies.

He put up the positions. The terrain was quite dubious. The walled hideout was standing on a hill and stood near a forest.

The hill would benefit the elven archers and slow down the enemy. At the same time was the forest area a nuisance. They would give Del's troops a hard time(cavalry) and would become a disadvantage for ranged troops.

The set-up was quite easy. Del and Ghetta took the northern gateway and Kul-Thzir's hybrids defended the southern gateway.

Helven would defend the northern wall section with her mages and gremlins so she would be away from Kul-Thzir's bloody soldiers. Siladroth would take the southern gate section with some elven archers.

I posted the two spellcasters at the walls so they would have a view on the lines and could light the forests on fire if the enemy would play the hit and run tactics.

I seated in the central area with four knights (and even better, the artifact) to aid any side that would be in serious trouble.

Afterwards, I approached Kemdil. I offered him a special task that would make the lives of Maarn's officers a bit harder. I asked him if he would take the company of dark elven assasins who served under Vayrath to hide in the forests, so that he could make a flanking manoeuvre.

Kemdil seemed to be a bit off, though...

OOC: Will Kemdil accept this? Will he ask the artifact with him? Find out later on the next episode of "reign of chaos".

IC: Naxxarus and Marlak had been sent with a large group of fast undeads to take care of Kirandar and get back the siege machines, Naxxarus thought about the time and figured the dwarfs should be attacking by now. As his group marched forward he then came over a hilltop and saw the battlefield, the troop who was going to supply with siege machines was there, surronded by Kirandar's troops. The leader of the undeads who had the siege machines was Moltana, a vampire countess and a great respected vampire.

"Well, Marlak, this is a small battle you'll take care of it, just order the troops around, and I'll take care of Kirandar." after saying that, Naxxarus rasied his hand and cast a spell which made all deads in the area get back alive again, fighting for him. After that, Marlak started giving orders and the battle was ongoing. Naxxarus was just sitting there on his elephant and casted spells and tried to find out where Kirandar was. "hmm...now this is interessting, when we arrived the siege machine was surronded by Kirandars undead troops, but now they surrond the siege machines and we surrond them, ha! Battle is a funny thing"

Kemdil looks at Kai and tells him about the other part of his dream (which now makes him the only other person that knows about the dream in its entirety). Afterwards, he listens to Kai's proposition and answers:

"If it'll help us gain the advantage, them I'm all for it."

Kemdil finishes his bread and water quietly and then makes to leave the base, with the assassins in tow. Before heading out he warns Kai not to let the Artifact out of his sight. Kemdil himself refused to keep the Artifact since now Naxxaran knew that he had been chosen by it.

OOC: That answers your questions!

OOC: alright, thanks, it will leave you some more room to act during the great battle and naxxarus might be put in hazard when he's attacked when he least suspects it. The dark elves should be able to infiltrate naxxarus as some are still part of his army

IC: Kaļ thought about Kemdil's dreams. He never heard of Axeoth. To him it sounded like some trick from Maarn to cause chaos and dissent among the enemy's ranks.

He did trust Kemdil, though. So he left the thought for what it was and went to the blacksmith.

"Sir, is the special order ready?", Kaļ asked. "Why yes, sir, here it is.", the blacksmith replied and pulled out an empire steel shield. Elven design, though... It would become a symbol of Kaļ's army. It was his old shield reforged. And, instead of scratched letters, there was a phrase forged on it: "for the inquisition"

But something better than that. Inside the shield there was a small socket. A littler bit bigger than the size of a fist. Inside it, he could place the artifact.

Kaļ was pretty excited about it. If the enemy thought he would hide it, they surely wouldn't check the surface of his most favorite symbol.Kaļ did keep a fake gem on his belt to fool ppl who've never seen the artifact.

Agter this, he went to check the troops. Del's knights were training frontal manoeuvres along with Ghetta's dwarven troops. Ghetta's troops would become the shield and Del's troops would become the sword. Helven's troops weren't so powerful as to have a great impact, but Helven would surely be a great sorceres.

Kul-Thzir's forces were elites. They were strong, agile and highly adaptive at the same time. siladroth was also very powerful. Yes, the southern section would become impenetrable.

Kaļ just hoped that there wouldn't become a prolonged siege. Sure, they had enough supplies, but they would lose valuable forces and time...

Maarn has to die. That's what Kaļ knew. If it wasn't him that would do it, Del, Kemdil, Siladroth or someone else would do it.

Kaļ went of to his sleeping quarters, thinking about Kemdil's dreams... Would there be allies in these lands?

Meanwhile, on the distant continent of Axeoth:

Mernaraith, Master Wizard of the Elven Empire, Chief Prophet of the High King Erevalas, meditates silently in his quarters. He meditates on the past, the very distant past, when a certain tribe of elves - the Irolla - were exiled from Axeoth for reasons long forgotten. They reached Ashan, and blended with an Ashanian race created by a gods. They named their chosen land - Irollan - after themselves.

Mernaraith senses the chaos that has engulfed Ashan since that distant era. He senses that the elves there fight for a lost cause, rebelling against the undead incarnation of magic and infinite power. He senses only one purely Axeothian elf, a hero, who must return to his homeland.

Back in Ashan:

Maarn's mind searches and scours the world. He sees the chaos stirred up by the rebellion, the chaos that threatens his perfect Empire of perfect order. And he senses another mind that searches this continent, the mind of a meditating elven wizard on another continent. He sees this other mind, and he crushes it completely and discards it.

Axeoth:

A vast, nearly infinite force overwhelms and engulfs that of Mernaraith. His continued existence is nonexistant. He is worse than dead. The soul of Mernaraith, Master Wizard of the Elven Empire, Chief Prophet of the High King Erevalas, is annihilated completely, and thrown away like an insignificant child's toy.
