Yeah. I figured I'd at least try it. What did I have to lose? Was a good way to spend new years as well (4:20 am now ).
Well, no particular style as of yet. It was more sparring so that he knew what my levels are like. Apparently I'm a very unorthodox fighter and if I can master my defence and all, then I will be very hard to beat as he said that in the way that I fight, the defence I can train in is very powerful. Apparently I have a very good, fast kick as well. I just need to learn how to utilise it properly. It'll all come to me with further training which I am very much looking forward to. The style he was mentioning a lot, and one he likes, is something called Wing Chun. He knows pretty much everything though (obviously as a teacher ). Another one he likes is Muay Thai. I don't know what exactly I will be taught in but whatever he thinks I can do best then I'm fine with it.

Personally I also love Muay Thai. Great that you've taken up Martial arts, Will! You get to learn a $hitload of great stuff, and the best is if he can work on what you do and simply improve it .. as everyone actually has their own natural style, that feels good to them.

But remember that knees and elbows are used also mostly in very close quarters, as for example the Muay Thai clinch.

Just figured I could post my strenght workout routine here Today I worked out freaking 135 minutes, 130 pure strenght. I love working my stomach 'til I can taste my breakfast, that's when you get results!!
Anyway, here we go! Take in mind this is the first time I try to actually write it in english so that other people than me understands.
Keep in mind this is not beginner workout, if you've never used weights before you should not use this as you will most likely hurt yourself.
Also, if there is something you don't understand you can google it or youtube it.
First 5 minutes jog, 10km/h.
30 second rest between each set.
Pullups 3 set, 8 reps (palms facing away from you, wide grip)
chinups 3 set, 10 reps (palms facing you, close grip)
60 second rest between each set.
Bicep curl 3 set, 6 reps
Concentration curl 3 set, 4 reps
Preacher curl 3 set, 4 reps
That's it on the bicep (you also got to warmup your back during the pullups and chinups)!
2 set, 2 minutes rest between and no rest during each set. Have the equipment ready!
30 crunches
30 V-situp using a medicine ball
20 legraises (for lower abs, those are also important)
Bicycle motion situp-thingy (you know what I mean) using a rather heavy medicine ball, as long as you're possibly able to. Feel the freakin burn!
ThisUntil you really feel it in your lower back, be careful not to use too heavy weights when you're not used to working out lower back.
The same as above, just sideways. Build up your sides to be able to absorb blows to for example your liver easier.
25 deadlifts
That's stomach and lower back, you should really taste your breakfast by now.
1 minute rest between sets.
Lateral raise 3 set, 5 reps
High rows 3 set, 5 reps
That's shoulders, nice and easy.
1 minute rest between sets.
Tricep pulldown 4 set, 4 reps
Skullcrusher 4 set, 4 reps
That's tricep, you'll get more tricep during chest workout.
90second rest between sets.
Flat dumbbell press 3 set, 3 reps
flat dumbbell flys 3 set, 5 reps
30degree incline dumbbell press 3 set, 3 reps
30 degree incline dumbbell fly 3 set, 5 reps
Benchpress 3 set, 4 reps
No pause-->Pushups max
That's a pretty killer chest-workout! At least that's what I think
Shrugs 3 set, 20 reps
That's it for neck, 1 minute pause between sets.
Squats 3 set, 20 reps
Toeraise (for lower legs) 3 set, 20 reps
Legpress machine 3 set, 12 reps
Leg-curl 3 set, 12 reps
Leg-extention 3 set, 12 reps
That's your legs! 90 second pause between sets.
Lat pulldown 3 set, 12 reps
Seated cable row 4 set, 12 reps
Smith machine bent-over rows 2 set, 12 reps
That's it for back. Push yourself here to gain max effect! 90 second pause between sets.
And another set of the stomach workout at the end, just for the hell of it!
STRETCH! You're finished!
I do not want you to workout your forearm/wrist, as it is used during most exercises and will VERY VERY easily get hurt. I hurt mine when starting, as I started up working out including forearm exercises.
Now for a few tips for the workout!
- Drink loads and loads of water. I often drink 3 liters of water while working out + a protein shake afterward.
- Eat both fast carbohydrates and slow ones before workout, so that you have energy during the entire session! A motor cannot run without gas.
- Eat a small meal afterward, containing proteins and carbohydrates. Then again a couple of hours later, eat a large meal consisting of lots of vegetables and meat, and if you're not allergic, nuts.
- Talk to an educated instructor or personal trainer to make sure you're doing it everything right and not risking injury.
Good luck!

Shoulders workout before chest?
You should always start with bigger muscle parts and end with smaller!
The correct order:
Legs
Back
Chest
Shoulders
Triceps/Bicep
Forearms
This is because :
- training big part first is more stimulating for the body, it will net a better strength/mass growth overall for all parts
- when working out bigger "parts", the smaller also work, and they guarantee a proper movement (like triceps and bicep both working in bench press!)
i.e. when bench pressing with tired tricep, your movement might be shakey, improper, and it's easy to hurt yourself

You're nuts! In a good way ofc
It just occured to me I never posted a pic of my dojo. My sensei is the one in the corner.

Recent impressions: Miss a week and you get rusty Thankfully next exams are 30 days away, plenty of time to pick up the pace.
Edit:
Systema can be real useful

Smooth demonstration, particularly like the kneeling and staff techniques. Not easy to control someone who is holding your staff.
In other news I've gotten the 4th kyu. It's only going to get harder now

Just came back from two days of Judo training...
Was gonna evolve into 1st Kyu Adrius but the black belt that was supposed to evaluate me had to go to a marriage. Guy needs to set his fricking priorities straight man!
Gonna try on wednesday instead. Hopefully gonna be a brown belt by then
You have a beautiful Dojo btw Elvin.
EDIT:
Last night I taught a fellow Judoka a counter that I saw on the internet. Left Ko-Uchi-Gari gets countered by Right Uchi-Mata, that probably doesn't say that much for you guys but IT IS EVIL.
Didn't think it would becomes so deadly when I taught it to her. My legs split in two directions and then her leg sends me flying like ****. Feels like I'm a fricking windmill and I almost over-rotate into a faceplant as well.
Scary stuff.
Hmm... 1 hour to level-up. Should do some last minute studies.

Almost Me I'm just happy I can do breakfalls. Amusingly it comes naturally from my left side but not so much from my right, then again I'm not very natural rolling on my right hand from a high stance ukemi either.
Oh and speaking of ranks, tomorrow there are dan exams in our dojo. Our sensei will receive his 5th dan
Btw I want visual aid to understand what you said above, the counter you mentioned sounds interesting

Uh yeah, noticed that I mentioned a completely wrong throw in the post. It's Ko-Soto-Gake not Ko-Uchi-Gari.
Uke (poor me in this case) does a pretty lame Ko-Soto-Gake, as he reaches out to do the leg-hook (Pause at 0:28 in the video for the exact moment), Tori spins around and does Uchi-Mata against the leg of Uke that is farthest away (as Uke reaches out with the Gake-leg, Uke must focus his weight on the back leg for balance)
As you can imagine, since my right leg is stretched out into Gake and she throws my other leg the other way with Uchi-Mata, the ownage is simply severe.
