Hmm... feel like I've stopped evolving somewhat.
From now on I'm gonna mirror my style... all moves that I do to the right side I will now use on the left...

Had a Japanese exchange student trying out Judo yesterday.
Was instructing when I laid my hand upon his shoulder and I immediately felt that the guy was either a martial artist or a dancer.
When you have a newcomer and you try to make them move with you you can usually really feel the resistance, there's no smoothness in their muscles and movements, no sense of the cooperation between Tori and Uke. But this time it was just right.
Turns out the guy was a black belt in Karate. Fun stuff.

You can just tell there is something different about some people. Same is true for aikido, all it takes is a little contact to see someone's balance and response

Had real fun today... tried to explain to the Japanese dude why we have a training excercise called "The Samurai", using nothing but body language.
Basically we had a fellow Judoka who tried to show off in front of his girlfriend with a sword and managed something as awesome as STABBING himself in the leg with it.
So now we honour his deed by adding a motion similar to stabbing yourself in the leg to a normal excercise, which we've named the Samurai.
Anyway got two new people training today... nice to see new adults. Most of the current older group of Judokas around here are people like me, who grew up with it.

Decorative piece I believe. Guess he thought he was out of harm's way since it likely wasn't sharpened... the point is still stabby though ^^
I have a decorative katana myself that I've sharpened a bit... needs a bit more work though. Doesn't feel authentic enough if it isn't sharp as ****.

It can be one lovely weapon to wield but a decorative one would be neat to. Meanwhile I tried the bo for the first time. It felt.. cumbersome Too used to the jo's swift and responsive movements. Not that the bo cannot be insanely fast in the right hands but man it is hard to use.

Did some sparring with the Karate black belt trying out Judo at our Dojo.
Karate and Judo are quite different it seems. He's got some throwing skills but nothing too impressive. Ground work is pretty much non-existant.
Also I haz great westerner strength and he is small asian man. I pick him up and turn him upside down.

Karate is showoff, and from my experience far inferior to other martial arts like boxing, wrestling, bbj and sambo

No idea what style he does. Forgot to ask.
He's fast as all hell and can be all over the place, but if you grab him and press him down he can't move so much ^^
