Lexxan's Creeping Expiriences.

Hi,

As Some of you already know, I am currently training myself in Creeping. Now, I've decided to post my Impressions (amd Maybe replays?) here and give marks to all Heroes I tried. I still have a lot to do, but at least, it's fun. I played with each of them for a month, except with Vayshan, who I enjoyed playing a lot.

Have Creeped Yet:

HAVEN

Lazslo: Lazslo's start isn't what you would call Swift and Majestic, but he easily can gather a large army of Footmen, which can act as sturdy meat shield towards everyone that dare to approach. Defence and Vitality are Good for Creeping as well. I got Irina in the Tavern, so I got a small army of Bowmen and Peasants as well (I used the latter as retaliation takers). Results: I creeped him and Sinitar at the same time, and he was definately the slower of the two, but he lost only a few units due to Vitality. Conclusion: A good Creeping Hero, but not Ideal, He's a bit too slow IMO. I Give him 8.3/10

DUNGEON

Kythra: She starts with the rare Warlock Skill Leadership, and with Estates, giving a small contribution to the Warlock's Treasuer.  9 Minos to start with is, just like with Lazslo, a Tanky start, but the Minotaurs are a bit worse to creep with. They are as slow as Footmen, but lack Defence, something their gargantuan Hit Points can't seem to cover. Results: I got Yrbeth in the Tavern, so I started with 14 Scouts, 3 Maidens and 9 Minotaurs. I got into troubel in my next battle, I barely managed to defeat 53 Vermin, and Kythra, who only had Icebolt in her Spellbook, only had 5 Mana. I almost lost my entire army, only Three Scouts left (I still had to look for a creeping strategy). Conclusion: Minos are nice, but won't save you in a creeping battle. She isn't bad though: 6.1/10

Vayshan: An extremely Good Creeper. If you can get Enlightement or Knowledge Arties early, this Hero can be a real Pain in  the neck (same with Sinitar btw). Fire Trap is one of the best creeping spells, not to mention the 27 Scouts you get at day one and the Luck Skill. Results: I got Sorgal in the Tavern so an additional 7 Scouts joined my army. I upgraded them at day two and Started to  Stalker-abuse them. With that Army I defeated every stack in the neighbourhood, including a stack of Furies on day 6. All I had was 10 Mana and Fire Trap. Destructive didn't pop-up with him, so I took Summoning Instead, which really helped with Creeping. I also gave him War Machines with Ballista, another great Help. Conclusion: A Great Creeper 8.9/10

Sinitar: Sinitar is slightly better than Vayshan, due to Eldritch Arrow and Destructive Magic. His starting army is standard, and agiant tiny, but that wasn't a problem at all. Results: I got lucky with this one. I got Vayshan in the Tavern, and Got and instant + 26 Scouts. This allowed Sinitar to tackle a pack of Bears on day one and Lots of Master hunters on day six. The Game was really was. He got Expert Destructive and Sorcery with Erratic Mana Soon, and Managed to get Advanced Luck as well. I conquered half the map with merely 30 Stalkers, Sinitar even Owned Vayshan at this. I went to well that I could afford the Dragon Building on day 22. Conclusion: The best Hero untill now: 9.5/10

Lethos: Lethos' Speciality effectiveness Increases over his level-upping, making him not an outstanding creepin in the beginnin. However, there is always a chance that his speciality will trigger, and he's priceless when it does. Results: I got Sinitar in the Tavern. Lethos got himself a modest army of six maidens and 24 Scouts, and he easilty defeated two nearby stacks of Imps nearby. Once the School of the Black Heartwas built, the Stalker abuse began. Lethos may need Level-ups to become very powerfull, it's mainly the Stalkers that made him very powerfull. I could defeat almost every stack in the neighbourhood (including 17 Djinns) with merely 24 of them. Lethos was lucky with his skills. He got Destructive, Luck, and even Leadership at the end. Conclusion Powerfull devastated, his specialty is a liability, but when it triggers, it's very usefull: 8.7/10

Eruina (busy)

ACADEMY

Razzak Like Kythra and Lazslo, Razzak is too slow to successfully creep with. The initiative of Golem is a crawling 7, same as the Gremlin's. Creeping with Razzak is tough, really, really tough, and I won't recommend it. Result: I got Nur in the Tavern , but that Small amout of Gremlins/Gargoyls was barely enough to win from the Familiars and Sprites in the Neighbourhood. Good hero as a Main, but pathertic to creep with, even Considereing Vitality and Haste. Conclusion: bad choice 3.5/10

Havez On the other hand, Havez is a Great Hero to creep with. War Machines is a good Skill, and so are the approximately 80 Gremlins he brings along with him. Results: I got Nur in the Tavern (again). I easily manage to kill the first stacks with my Saboteurs, and had a fairly easy Game. When I got Tripple Ballista, I was nearly undefeatable. Conclusion:  Strong Hero, but not as fast as Sinitar or Vayshan. I waited one turn untill my Gremlins were upgrades (note: I played him on Heroic) Still has the Third Place atm.  8.6/10

Galib: Galib's Special is useless versus Neutrals and Creeping, Luck however is not and helped him to defeat a Pack of Black Bears in week one. Results: I got Lucky, since I found Havez in the Tavern, giving Galib about 120 Gremlins in the Beginning. Galib's levelling got speeded up by Advanced Enlightement, and he picked up Sorcery. Just before the Last Fight be learned Wizard's Reward, Basic Light Magic and Counterspell.

SYLVAN

Gilraen The Around 15 Blade Dancers you get at the beginning were a great help to Gilraen. Defence was good as well, Protection Kinda sucked. Results: I was Lucky: I got Ossir in the Tavern. So I easlty managed to blow away near stacks, withonly minimal losses. Gilraen got Enlightement and Attack Soon, making him a powerfull, fast levelling, might Hero. Conclusion: Not bad, but if Ossir wans't in the Tavern, he wouldn't have been that great. 7.3/10

INFERNO

Nebiros (busy)

More are Underway, and i'll maybe post replays? (on request only)

Nice

Tomorrow I have a game of H5 arranged with PhoenixReborn, I'll save all the neutral replays to post them here (even if something will go completely wrong)

Maybe we can exchange some tactics

Looking for QP ?

Fortress

Karli Starting with Basic Luck and Soldier's Luck, Karli's spearwielders are considerably powerful in early creeping. Their Crippling Wounds can drastically lower enemies speed, making fast creatures such as sprites cannot reach your troops in the first few turns. Results: I got Ebba in the tavern and combine their troops, then successfully cleared most of the neutrals without losses (only a pack of familiars manage to kill a few defenders ). Conclusion: Karli can be a good creeper, and one of the best among the dwarves. 7/10

Laszlo is good and all but some units you just can't touch early.

About Kythra you had inside maiders and scouts? Don't do that again! Always upgrade at least scouts and war machines suck badly.
You need no sorcery early, I skip it if I am offered. Dragons can be built week 2 if you start with fort and get a little lucky with resources.

Razzak is far from pathetic, did you use master gremlins to repair your fallen golems?

The attacked my Gremlins first, so there was no one to repair. War Machines Helped with Vayshan though (though it's much better with Brabarians and Knights). With Sinitar I was Lucky with all Rescources expcept Gold (only with the Week, Week three turned out to be the Week of Gold, so I could afford Dragons at day 1 on week 3 (day 22).

Anyway, expect an update soon, I'm now half-way the Lethos/Galib testing.

My point is that the earlygame investment in some skills is not worth the trouble. A bit faster creeping at the cost of a better final battle hero is not the way to go.

Not better than a knight's minus the flaming arrows. Have they saved you in a week 4-5 final fight? I'm pretty sure there are better options out there, it's not as if you need them early.

What are you facing? If they are walkers, maybe you can use three golem stacks to shield your gremlins.

As a matter of fact Razak is a very good hero for creeping, if you use master gremlins to resurect golems he's great vs any kind of walker flyer. Mages/Ranged still pose a problem but hopefully you can deal with them with gargoyles only and decent magic.

Golem Tactics:
Golems should be used offensively  by moving them so that enemy units engages them on their turn, they should NOT BE SPLIT and should NOT DEFEND. Razaak's Golems are sturdy and can easily take a blow and retaliate with good damage. If master gremlins are split in 2 stacks they can repair them twice per battle, so DO split master gremlins if you can 20 gremlins will heal around 5-6 golems.

Ideally Golems should engage 1 or 2 stacks while the gremlins and magic/hero atack should take care of the rest of the stacks. Gargoyles should be used to defend gremlins and lure other stacks to fight golems instead of the gargoyles defending the gremlins.

MV----------            MMV---------

I'd post some nice replays with golem/gremlin creeping but I don't have a file share server account and am too lazy to make one

I just had an interesting game with PhoenixReborn, and I saved a lot of replays (including the last fight of course). Note that there were much more neutrals than the number of replays I have, because I used Autocombat and when there were no losses, I didn't saved a replay.

Download Replays (it's a self-extracting executable, just "install" it in your replays folder)

Notice how I managed to defeat the Stalkers that were guarding my Sawmill without any Destructive spell, and they triggered a Morale point once!

Also, for those that don't know, if you place your Furies in the fourth tile from the left (and you have +1 Speed), you can hit the enemy in the first attack, regardless of how many stacks they have.

And check the final fight as well, it's an interesting battle

It was Week 5.

And Week 2 was a Week of Fire and Ice, that's why my Ice Bolt does so much damage in that week

As for my Heroes, I had Yrwanna as main, Vayshan was at the tavern and next week I hired Yrbeth.

And there was a big mistake for me, when I attacked some Nightmares, I forgot to look at their number and then I was surprised to see there were 65 Nightmares... I lost around 40-50 Stalkers there
