The guard post is imo very broken, with huge number of shieldguards even in early weeks, perhaps that is why Ingvar's bonus does not apply.  Whichever it is, this needs to be changed.

Understand your frustration of super low growth rate for tier 2 (the best unit apart from shadow witches/matriachs/mistresses and the three dragons), but I hope you are not thinking of this:-

Scouts/Assassins/Stalkers: +3 for 300, 600, 1200 etc
Blood Maiden/Fury/Sisters: +2 for 300, 600, 1200 etc
All Minotaurs: +1 for 300, 600, 1200 etc
All Raiders: +1 for 450, 900, 1800 etc
All Hydras: +1 for 600, 1200, 2400 etc
Shadow Witch/Matriach/Mistress: +1 for 900, 1800, 3600 etc
All Dragons: +1 for 1200, 2400, 4800 etc

Improve one more tier, and there would be calls to improve ALL tiers (for completion's sake), and consider how imba the above sacrificing chart gets when using Kythra with diplomacy...

Tier 4 to 7 units still have normal growth rate, and the poison ability of assassins and stalkers mean that their growth rate should be lower else it becomes "assassin/stalker rush"

All great suggestions yeah. 25% Fine Rune is a hell of alot better.

As for Ritual Pit affecting tier-1 as well, I think that they should apply the same rule as when they altered the growth/power ratio of horned demons in ver 2.1 (i.e higher growth, less HP). So in effect you get slightly weaker assassins but with alittle sacrifice you can make that up in numbers.

Ingvar has got to be the best creep snow in HOMM5, in week 2 my friend PWNs all the mines in his block with nothing but Shield Guards, its soooooooooooooo gay, I h8 it.

I still reckon this new change to make every base get there final ability at the same level was dumb. the UBER-final abilities (Dwarf, Sylvan, Academy) should still take longer than less-than-uber abilties like Haven's and Dungeons...

Also in terms of game balance, ALOT needs to be changed in how most of the hero's abilities work to actually make all of them viable choices as main heros (Like making the Dark Ritual Hero only use 75% of her movement to use Dark Ritual , makes Dungeon base assualts alot easier)

AND WHO DA HELL DECIDED THAT FORTRESS COULD GET TELEPORT ASSUALT?!?!?!?!?

n00b or not, you got to agree with me that they could use alittle more imagination for some of the heros in the game...

Like for example the only thing that realy put me off from playing with the Haven was how boring and HOMM3-ish there heros are...

I'll certainly agree that some heroes are terrible starters but that's not just with haven. Regardless this is not the right thread to discuss this.

I thought you can always start a thread...but I feel that all your concerns are discussed in other relevant threads.  Use the content page thread (it is always in the first page since it is a "sticky" thread) to help you find the posts you can relevantly reply to and add on.  I second Doomforge's encouragement, with v3.1 we may see more balanced game (or more imba factions)

Ok, back to topic on the patch...
Apart from Vesuvius' information, I can also report on some new aspects of RMG maps:

(1) If "random towns only" is disabled, you can set the faction for each colour.  Not so relevant for me but I believe some players will welcome this feature for some games, such as 8 player hot-seat multiplayer with each player having a different faction.

(2) There are many more mixed neutral armies, with the map editor only showing the strongest creature.  Unless pre-set, such troops will NOT join the hero (which makes the already-not-often diplomatic joins even rarer, so is diplomacy even useful???).  Of course, with some thinking, there may be ways to overcome this...

(3) Relic artifacts can also be obtained after defeating their neutral guarding monsters.  In the past, they are only available from artifact merchants and dragon utopias (so far I have not played new XL maps, but I recalled seeing shackles of the last man and robe of Sar-issus on the map)

Yes, redwood observatories and den of thieves are on the maps now.  It becomes harder to hide...

Actually, you can't post a new thread as a new user, it says you must reply to some other threads first.  This appears to be the best and most active HOMM5 board on the net, but that limitation is the reason I chose to go elsewhere.  I know you are trying to hamper the spammers, but people like me who have actual legitamate questions also can't get anywhere on this forum.

Ok, I think I have to clarify:-

Those who know about me know that I am a haven player playing, almost exclusively, on XL size RMG maps (previosuly with Classic AI mod, but now since that mod does not work with v3.1...)

In TotE v3.0, after generating a few XL maps, I noticed something about artifacts.  They can be gained from the following:-
(1) your starting bonus if you get it (minor artifact)
(2) defeating enemy heroes and getting their artifacts (in my games AI never flees)
(3) defeating neutral guards to get artifacts (AFAIK, I mean, recall, even the tier 6 guards like rakshasas and treants only guarded major artifacts at best, I really do not recall seeing relics being placed like this, unless my memory fails me)
(4) battle sites (only dragon utopia gives relic artifacts)
(5) artifact merchants (map, academy towns, dungeon towns) that ALWAYS offer 3 minor, 2 major, 1 relic artifact at the beginning of every month

So, relics can only be gained from dragon utopias, artifact merchants or defeating enemy heroes who happen to have them.

In my new RMG maps in v3.1, I now noticed relics guarded by neutrals (of course, strong neutrals, typically tier 6).  When I see the v3.1 patch installing the mapeditor portion, I see a lot of filename progress movement, thos MIGHT be relic artifacts that now can be placed on adventure maps like that.

I could be wrong, but that is what I have observed.

By chance, do you have any pictures or something showing the "mask of equity giving double bonuses" bug?  I hardly use this item in my games so I don't know how the bug works out.
