Have "hard" match with Willge on HG. He pick for both us races and its Sylvan+Ossir vs Inferno/Nebiros. After he smack me we can do it. Sure will be fun

Here's the1.9 version of the map.

Twilight World (ver. 1.9)

Planned some more substantial changes for this version initially, but don't have (and unfortunately won't have in nearest future as well) nuff time to do lots of serious mapmaking/testing.

List of main changes:
fixed 1.8 version bug that elves got only 4% chance to get light magic (now its back to 8% as it should be)
removed one more hunter/arcane per week for sylvan
replaced lvl 5 dwell in the minezone with lvl 5 + lvl 4 dwell to increase relative amount of lvl 4 creatures
replaced archmages and bunch of lvl 1 shrines in the center with something more tempting and challenging ()
enabled ring of unrepentant
lots of garnizon tweaking (biggest changes - greatly increased strength of island garnizon and schacles garnizon to add some chances for rezistance instead of always-easy-pass there)

One small access bug managed to squize through in previously posted versions (tnx to Fred for pointing it out). Fixed that one, here are correct last versions of the map:

EDIT: Some more little mess-up took place - link to hero-styled version led to standart version and vice versa. Fixed that one+fixed available tavern bug on red side for herostyled version (tnx again to Fred for pointing it out).

Sorry for all this and hopefully it didn't create any problems.

Also here is the latest version of the help pdf file.

I think there is a bug in 1.9, red's Titans + Wolves are not blocking the way completely and you can go by them without fighting.

Since I've been enjoying myself alot lately around the map, and Zilo became unavailable for a long I have decided to ask him for permission to update the map from time to time.

And finding myself in a creative status, I actually made a pretty major update to the map, though my initial intention was to tweak around a little :

Twilight World 2.0 beta

I, fixed the bug I discovered of course, but I also added a whole new area ! As you might remember, before going through Moria, our heroes tried to cross over the mountain, but they were stopped by powerful storms unleashed by Saruman ! So that is where the story ends and the game begins.

This new area is located above ground, and you reach it from the tent island, by climbing the stairs. That is where the Storms of Saruman await you(a whole new garrison, in alternative to the Mines Garrison, but somewhat tougher):

3 Titans , 120 Saboteur Gremlins, 12 Druid Elders. 60 Elemental Gargoyles and 30 Magnetic Golems !

I consider it a late week 2 for the strong, early week 3 for the weak garrison, or even early week 2 for the most brave ones , late week 3 for the very weak and chicken!  

The prize for crossing this garrison, is pretty many resources and gold, guarded of course, 1 gold mine + 2 dwarven warrens and 1 mini mega dwelling(lvl 4,5,6) + other dwellings. The advantafe of this one over the Mines, is the relatively low distance you have to walk in order to finish it(perfect for non-logistic heroes) and the nice instant resources & gold.

The disadvantage is the higher difficulty of course, as well, as the lower , more random long term bonuses! It can also become a nice fighting ground for some powerful secondaries.

The guards of the mini mega dwelling are fast and ferocious, beware of the emeralds dragons & their haven companions !

Since I am a novice in this, I hope the Twilight regulars will give me a hand with testing and suggestions !

Mapmaking help required !!!

The problem : simultaneous turns break too early!

When I attacked the tent defenders, sims just went down... and even though we tried to reload and fix, it happened again!

The areas I am talking about aren't connected at all, so we need someone(an expert preferably) to take a look there and fix the problem, or at least give some suggestions.

I don't know map format but I do know that borderguards do not affect sim turns, it's like there is no obstacle. Especially if there are portal shortcuts that lead through border it's easy to break sims early. Some guardian inbetween should fix the issue, also possible that you left a 'testing hero' close?

Isn't the case here ... There are plenty of guards and also no access between the two players(isolated islands surrounded by trees& mountains from all sides). Also I am talking about the key from the tent, not the opening...

New bug discovered :

my noobity strikes again : i put a pile of 400k gold in new area , instead of 4k gold . for all ingoing games(if any) that find this troublesome the solution is simple: just both agree to keep 396k gold, and possibly send print screen with it @ the end of the game

Along with fixing the bugs, I am thinking of adding a Wand of Vampirism artifact in front of the dragon guards for the mega-dwelling, in order to give some chances to unlucky Infernals, dark Haven builds, Academy and of course other unsual Dark users, which don't want to take Light on top of Dark. The question is , would that be too much, I don't know how wands really work? I heard something about advanced lvl spell always @ a fixed spell power in forum, which would be okei actually.

Also I'll probably add 1 more warren, and 1 wood camp in that place, so it becomes a real (but very risky) alternative to the tunnels, so the reward must be worthy.
First impression is that, this one is gonna be a killer

LE: Seems the wand of Vampirism, actually does what I want it to do, so it's most likely in, unless someone has a better idea or a powerful argument.

And since Summoning magic is a little overlooked on this map(except Necro), I am thinking about adding something for them as well.

Maybe you could create an edited testmap with 2 heroes with sufficient army directly in front of the tent, so we can easily check out if defeating tent guards does indeed break sims.

That sounds like an interesting idea, only problem is that I didnt manage to add a hero on map. Still, waiting for some experienced map maker's opinion ( Fiur, insatiable, Jinxer ). so far only Elvin helped

In the mean time, ideas are growing in my mind, so new version will be really ground breaking, a real 2.0

There will be only one super mega dwelling, the balrog one. The others will be a little tweaked:

The Mountain(snow) mega dwelling, stays as it is(lvl 6 + lvl 5 + lvl4)
The Fire mega dwelling, losses lvl 7 becoming similar to Mountain
The Tunnels mega dwelling, losses lvl 6 becoming(lvl7 + lvl 5+ lvl 4), especially because it is the longest path
Balrog remains un-altered, being the hardest of them all
Added double garrisons around shackles + emerald boots + ressurection wand, in order to prevent stealing arties by enemy without a fight
Will add Vampirism wand, as previously mentioned
Will place one of Fire Traps, Raise Dead or Arcane Crystal near Ice Bolt Shrine, replacing one of the random spells

Finally figured out what the problem was, with the help of Zilo, who already had this kind of experiences it seems . Unfortunatelly Magnetic Golems which I was hoping to act as a little protection to Destructive, had to go, and have been replaced with 20 Earth Elementals, which are Zilo's protection against Sim Turns break .

So here's the fixed version of the map:

Seems I've been working on two versions maps, and on the last one I forgot to modify 400k gold stack, and when I gave the map one last check, it popped in my face, so fixed that one also now.

I have changed some things of Towers latest version of tw. Since im neither authorized by Tower nor Zilo to make "official" changes i dont want this map to be posted on the toh maps page. See it as a spicy version to try out .

I edited the map because of various reasosns.

Experienced players almost never go through the tunnels anymore if they dont play necro. Last time my opponent did this was in balrog tournament final vs zilo and thats some 20 games ago. Why should a big part of the map lie around unused ?
Entrance to Towers new zone is behind inferno garrison instead of the position near the tent. New zone motivated players even more to bypass the tunnels thats why i changed the access position to new zone.
If you want to know what Towers new zone contains check out his post on this page of the thread. Some people didnt know that Megadwelling is guarded by 2 stacks of ~23 upgraded haven lvl5, 2 stacks of ~ 33 royal griffins, 2 stacks of ~7 upgraded sylvan dragons and contains no well. Only thing i changed in new zone, i deleted towers garrison because it wasnt needed any more since inferno dudes guard it now.
So if you shy away from strong necro garrison you can take that zone and port home.
I've spend too much time for nothing when my opponent or me faced pit lords/fiends in front of their level 6 dwelling and had to restart game.
1st lvl6 is guarded by 7-9 wraiths.
Taking lvl 7 units away from island megadwelling is harsh for twilight world weak races like stronghold and academy.
Island megadwelling contains lvl 4,5,6,7 again
Sandros cloak is disabled because its for wussies (I used it too )

I've tested it 20 mins in hot seat, no early sim breaks did occur and everything seemed in order.

Well this is just my opinion, but you should NEVER edit anyone elses work, regardless if you ask for it to not be posted or not. Speaking from experience, map makers work hard and poor there heart and soul and countless hours into a map. And just cause you dont like some aspects of map, doesnt give you the right to start editing there work.

Either play the original verison or if you dont like it, then dont play it.. Keep in mind, when the Map maker made the map they had an idea or concept or how they wanted the map to play out etc.. and for you to circulate a totally different verision just isnt right. Not trying to make enemies here, just posting my opinion.

You have a point but it's not exactly a trademark. Mapmakers release their work for the players' enjoyment after all, if he wants to try it out with a couple of friends it's not a big deal.

I recall fiur had edited dragon's cape and it was cool, enjoyed many games on that one.

Well I disagree.. I would infact claim a Trademark. Nike Shoes releases there shoes to the public to use and wear and enjoy, but Nike still owns the design.. And how far do you think it would go if someone changed the design and slapped the Nike name on.

If he and his 1 buddy who play hot seat every night want to secretly add some edits for there own enjoyment then fine.. go for it.. But to make a Major alteration to a map then PUBLICALLY announce it and spread it around the internet is disrespectful to the map maker.

**** Now if Zilo pops on here and says, he doesnt give a rats @$$ if everyone makes there own verisons of the map, then permission has been given... have at it.

well I loved that map as well so what I did  was...
I added an underground ++  to that map....
and well I've helped  a "few" guys  with their maps and also changed a few maps...with premission from the owner  if possible...

I hope  I dont  get some sort of punishment )
