Thanx. This looks great. But hit a few bump in the road. Here's my plan:

The gnolls should have a 5% chance to do a critical damage (double just like dread knights) and the gnoll marauders Hate humans (and therefore hit with 50% more damage). These are the values basic - ace (call me boring)

Anyway this is my script for these changes:

Problem one: When right clicking the Gnolls the game totally freezes and I'm back to the desktop. Whats wrong???

Problem two: Even though I've erased box 2 on Gnoll marauders they still hate the centaur captains. Why?

"Problem" 3: Using "2" makes them hate archers and that's fine but do I have to copy that line to make them hate Pikemen, Halberdiers, Crusaders and so forth (of course change the "2")? In that case there are 10 units that includes humanity. Is it possible to have 10 "special abilities"?

Don't use 98 and 99 ID together, put them in two codes and two different events:


Gnolls:

ZVSE

Double Damage Death Blow 101
Stack Experience Standard Modifiers ($4 for EA:B Command)
+ Add 43
= Set 61
% Percent 37



Gnolls marauders

You have to give a new ability for every creature you want to have improved damage:
You can't just with one spot make them hate 14 creatures(all human). You can make them hate up to 8 creatures because you have only 8 options.

So, first clean all abilities panel:

Then, you start adding hatred damage, one line for every creature, up to 8.

and so on.

I would suggest using one spot for every upgraded castle creature, so in 7 lines of codes you can cover all Castle creatures (upgraded)

Use my map "Alexander the Great" HERE to study how I gave 80+ abilities to almost every creature in the game. Events are named: neutral creatures abilities and castle creatures abilities. You will find all you need there.

Great guide. Very simple to use indeed, so I guess that my next question involves a lot more work.

Been editing some factions and it was Dungeons turn to be edited. I wanted to change the fact that Troglodytes in fact could be blinded. This is of course programed to the original HoMM3. So I open "resedit" and looked at all the text files but was unable to find anything. How do I proceed if I want to change that?

Also, and I think this is the same problem as above, I've changed the Mighty gorgons to have petrifying instead of Death gaze, but still they use Death gaze. (I've copied the line from Greater basilisk and changed the creature number) ((editing the CREXPBON.txt file))

Both are hardcoded so you can't change that. Neither mighty gorgons or troglodyte.

Also it is impossible to give death stare, the code will be correct but the ability will not work, hardcoded also. I wonder how they did it for commander.

I think that in fact u can disable troglodyte blind immunity. Just give it through ERM, but set "disabled" for all ranks.

Haven't tried to change all hard-coded stuff yet. Try this weekend. Would be great if that was possible.

Anyway, hit yet another bump in the road (a very very bumpy one)
I was trying to give the unicorns (and upgraded now named Celestial charger) two new abilities.

First they shall be able to cast teleport. I could of course set them to flying, but A) that look really stupid and B) they can only cast 1 resp. 3 Teleport each battle. I can set them to cast a certain number of spells but can't find teleport.

And second, and most important, I want to make them (and others) immune to poison, but can't seem to find that option.

Some time ago I tested also teleport but could not work and caused crashes. Mainly because it is random and they could teleport into an unauthorized location, thus the crash; fly is an ability to make them pass the obstacles, like ghost behemots, and it is available from the emerald tower.

I do not know about poison, there is no such an option, maybe total immunity could work against.


While infinite things could be possible with WoG(theoretical), a limited things only were tested by the WoG team.

If I add an ability for enchanters to cast death ripple will it always deal same damage no matter what?
45 damage to living creatures when a stack of 3 enchanters attack as well as 45 damage to living creatures when a stack of 1555 enchanters attack?

Yes. It is not each creature which cast the spell, but the whole group. The spell will be launched at expert level. If the power of the spell was multiplied by the number of creatures you can imagine how unbalanced would be.

@Salamandre:Looking at SPTRAITS.txt I found that paralize may be 74, it's the fith creature ability(they come after the combat spells).
Can't be correct?

Yes but for which format list? because in SE1 ID=74 is cast advanced version of the spell before attack.

No, 74 is paralyze (according to Heroes 3 Complete/Data/Text Resources Copy/Stack Expirience Bonuses).
