So we played our games with Tann, Thanks Tann they were tough

Arcax vs Tann
2 - 0

1st round Stronghold - Dungeon

I was prepared for destruction but faced a summoning Warlock. Luck played a big role here.

Replay1

2nd round Sylvan - Haven

Destructive + Empathy etc. Its funny how empathy messed my plan and forced Anwen to act before Druids...

Round2

Tell me about it, same thing happened to me in my last game with Tann against Inferno.

Empathy is not that great for Sylvan sometimes.

Nice and clean. A few things on the dungeon match:
RM on furies was too risky, confusion on centaurs can pay off more. The minefield would probably be better around the dungeon units, it was unlikely that orcs would move through there in the immediate turns. Never never attack warmongers with phoenix, you depend on it. The original barrier could be further from the corner so that the second could trap the centaurs. Then again I'm not so sure what kind of damage it would do if they tried to break through, 14 spellpower is lowish.. That double resistance from the swarms hurt.

Haven vs sylvan was nice, normally sylvan would lose such a fight but the ranger's initial spellpower was pretty high even without the druids. A rain of chain lightning is one of my favourite moves Maybe not the most efficient but the fun factor is high. That haven was pretty tough and brutal, if they had resistance it would be hard to keep up.

Nice battles, just watched it.
Arcax played well in both battles

Terrain saved sylvan there.
The treants did have "some" use this time

Notice haven seems to have retribution, I think divine guidance + empathy will win this game for them though

Thanks sq, as you saw Treants saved my day so trust them more often

That Retribution+Luck+20 attack combo was quite deadly but it showed that Destro-Sylvan is sometimes far better than Light one. I dont think that Resurrection,Haste or RM would had saved me from that massive damage output of Haven units so a Destructive was a fine choice.

Hmmm hard to say, because your hero had no englightment i figured ? And with skills needed for a destructive sylvan , could give you expert defence and of course englightment to boost defence up to 22 or so.
The problem haven was able to deal so much damage was because sylvan lacked the defensive abilities here. But of course, maybe you choose destructive because of spells and artifacts as well.

Why would a Destructive Sylvan need more skills than a Light one? Except from Rain of Arrows which is only one skill.

Destructive is pretty good against high defense factions like Haven, Necro or Fortress because it ignores defense. Also the spells could have been even better for Sylvan, Firewall wasn't that useful for example, and a Meteor Shower would have probably been a lot better than Chain Lightning at the start.

I had Expert Enlightment for some extra defense boost and of course Intelligence was needed due to knowledge lower even than spellpower...

I decided for Destruction when I saw in market Phoenix Cape, Trident and none might artifacts(Sandros Cloak, Tunic of Carved Flesh).

And about Firewall and Chain Lightning. I use Firewall to reduce the defense of Champions killing at the same time Crossbowmans and Squires but as I noticed imbued spells+Rain of Arrows seems to fail with the "Master" effects - if thats common knowledge, well mea culpa...

The same things went with Chain Lightning stun-effect-it failed with imbue+Rain but not with single shot and again mea culpa if its a common teaching of Imbue destruction.

If u had those arties, probably better to go with destruction.
2,15 is abit hard to fight haven in terms of might, too little really

hi can anyone verify what arcax is saying? that the masters in destructive don't work when rain of arrows is used?

i was just playing sylvan again and would have tested this out, but as usual once i saw dirael...
i went for a summoning/dark ranger and once again got the archer set and book of dark magic - another win in the bag

the rain of arrows definitely works for the wasp swarm paralysis effect, and i'm pretty sure for deep freeze as well, but if master of fire/storm/ice doesn't work it would be good to know!

Interesting game, Destructive Sylvan vs. full Might Haven, but there were some weak moves from haven, which might have decided the battle. First of all the champion hit dragons, from the wrong square, blocking their future charges, and on top of that enabling dragons retaliation on zealots(lucky one even), which made a precious righteous might disappear, and all that for only 10% damage ...
Also the initial placement of troops, for Haven was odd, to say the least, no mass endurance was pretty strange, and Divine Guidance on Griffins even stranger. In the end killing druids with angels, right before griffins died, was also a mistake... but all in all, Sylvan player made some mistakes also, and still won, so I guess Destructive was a good idea, but the decisive factor in this duel in my opinion, was the fact that haven is a weakling in current version of the map.

You must be joking here, army increasement actually made might factions stronger than before, and Haven was no weakling even in the previous version either.

I'm not joking, almost all their strong points are defeated by this version :

1. Special skill training = weakest from all towns since it is capped
2. Low level troops in small quantity, means Haven will suffer since Crossbowmen are one of their greatest assets
3. Only 16 lvl 6 compared to 18 of most towns

Did Haven have Fire Resistance maybe? And the stun maybe wasn't strong enough to affect the ATB bar.

You are missing things again Towerlord. Most racials here have a limitation - dwarves have less army and therefore less powerful runes, academy can't make lvl 3 minies, sylvan doesn't have all favoured units like arena, necro has less necromancy units than in a real game and so on. Consider that sylvan can only have peasants, archers, footmen and priests favoured here, actually I'm not sure if the priests are in the current or the updated version.

And don't give me that small quantity of low tiers, that can go for other factions too.. The higher they are the more broken frenzy and vitality is, no wonder you and sq pick it on sight. That is a sign that something is wrong. As for 16 cavaliers it's irrelevant since the training is capped.

Edit: Don't worry Lepastur, it's a part of the season just like all tournaments

I invite you to beat me or Sq, 2 out of 5 with Haven against the powerhouse Dwarfs, which have too many troops actually, not too few, if you manage that, you can say there is some balanced.

PS: Keep in mind that Tann's Haven had Enlightment, which is a very rare and very powerful skill for Haven, and still didn't win the game. That truly shows something
