@virtual_bird:
I presume this is the edition you have.
I happen to have it too. The codes are on the back of the printed manual. There are 3 codes, one for HoMM V, one for Hammers of Fate and one for Tribes of the East.
EDIT: The codes in the Complete Edition are written on the back of the Instruction Booklet. I posted the pic as an example.

Well, I think the problem is with the connection. I also experienced laggs when playing online, but the problem simply ceased after a (not to very long) time.
Honestly, I really don't know what to say.

I had this problem with Elvin once - we had a horrible lag and even disconnected after some time.
I think it has something to do with the connection

That or restarting the pc, sometimes it helps. Or lowering graphics a bit. With me it happens at random times so it can work better if you try at a later time.

512 is enough.
So unless your connection sucks in another way it shouldn't be a problem.

I'll definitely try this out as soon as I get better! First, though I need to get into the game (I've been having some problems)
I wish I could play Heroes 3 online =( - very good game too!

Well, if you want to play Heroes III online, you can use Hamachi (the same way you would use Hamachi to play Heroes V; check this thread).
But for more info regarding Heroes III online, see this.

Need Help
I have recently tried to play multiplayer through hamachi with my friend, but it doesn't work. My friend was connected to a server that I hosted, but he didn't show up in the lan lobby. We have the same mods and we tried without the mods, but it still didn't work. My friend and I have both had problems hosting games in other games, for example Worms World Party, but we can join games that are hosted by other players. Is this problem caused by my firewall? And could I play if someone else hosted the Hamachi server? Thanks in advance...

It could be the Firewall... but it can also be some weirder stuff.
For example, when I played with Zamfir, he couldn't see any games I created, but when he created the game everything went ok. So try the other one to host the game and see if it works. Or disable the Firewall (temporarily!) to see if that's the problem, at least.

As a rule: if you can't play, change the host.
Also, different maps in the map folder might stop you from playing.

Thanks for the help! We have to try it so that my friend hosts the hamachi server and if that doesn't work I'll check the firewall eventough it's a bit risky.

As long as you do not view any dangerous internet page when you disable the Firewall nothing bad should happen.
Also, what I meant is that it matters which one hosts the game, not only the Hamachi server.

I saw something about hamachi in your original post, have you made sure that both have the same version or that it did not automatically update? Or if someone forgot to turn on hamachi? Occasionally happens with me

Could there be a problem with the maps, because we have different maps in the mapfolder and we have both different mods.

That would be a problem to JOIN the game. I don't think that keeps the game from appearing in the list though. Could be worth a try.
Always have the same Maps and Mods as your opponent. Otherwise most probably you won't be able to play.

Only lauching the program and getting to see the window doens't mean you turned Hamachi on.
You have to click on the big ON/OFF button.
But since you managed to play Heroes 3, it's hard to believe some of you had Hamachi off.
